Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

Because I know all her secrets. And unlike Rose, I'm all about honesty.

[ As seen by how she shifts into her true form without warning. She smiles wide with a mouthful of fangs. There's something unsettling about the happy-go-lucky attitude tinged with a hint of maliciousness.

This double is the monster Rose refused to be. But she could. That's what makes this fun. ]

Rosie-dear here has a selective diet. Did she happen to mention that to you? How she killed people?

[ Though it's probably not hard to connect the dates with that information, honestly... ]

Ha! Another thing I'm better without.

[ Shame is for losers. ]

Rose eats people, see. Says she doesn't want to. Is being all altruistic and good by not eating. But I'm not so inclined to starve.

[ Rose will always try to be something she's not, thinks the double. So she'll never be truly happy. ]

Not yet. But she will. She thinks she can starve herself forever.

[ It is, actually. It wasn't always but it is now. Or, at least, Rose has convinced herself that it's all she can consume.

Which is honestly a scarier thought than the magic that caused her to be like this the root of her troubles. ]

Oh, is that a challenge? It's been a while since I've had a proper opponent.

[ The woman takes a more defensive poise. This might be exciting after all. ]

[ Rose wasn't hiding her abilities when she'd fought Shadow, necessarily. But she'd been too surprised to really fully display her skill.

Her double has the advantage of being prepared this time. Striking first. And she definitely isn't going to pull any punches. His attempt fails as she's able to keep up almost entirely with him.

She's a snow flurry, a blur of white that's fast and biting with fangs and claws. Where she can't match his speed, she knows to go on the defensive. It's exhilarating, honestly, and she laughs all the while that they speed around each other. ]

Did you think I'd make it easy? Rose is the pacifist, not me!

[ But she's getting bored now, honestly. This is time wasted now that she could be hunting other prey. So she'll make the move to escape when it's presented. ]
