Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.
At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.
So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?► This log covers January 16th-January 25th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your evil clone happens to take you out, please let us know here, and remember that you will not revive until the event is over.

The rest looked at them and decided it was justified, wanting a child to die.
So no, it doesn't matter if she's intimidated. She runs her mouth like everyone else does, because isn't that what adults do? Overwhelm a child with words, because there's no, real way they can possibly fight back.
"I have someone to kill. You're in my way."
So MOVE.

"Looks like you've been busy already," she says with a nod to the splatters on their clothes. Maybe it wasn't a kitchen mishap after all. "Need any help? In case they're taller than you or something." She may still be amused, but if this kid is actually about to stab someone, she'd hate to miss it. Look, she'll even oblige and step to the side.

"You're not there." They say, as if that explains everything. She won't be. When the final blow is taken, she won't be.
It's never happened before. It won't happen this time.

"Pretty sure I'd have noticed if I'd gone invisible in the last ten minutes. I'm saying I'd like to come along, see you take someone's eyes out with that thing. Deserve it, do they?" She smirks encouragingly; justified bloodshed always tastes so much better, though she has nothing against the odd violent rage either. Not that they seem like the emotional outburst type.

Maybe she's another of Sans' friends.
"No. You're not there when I kill them." A statement, not the slightest bit of hesitation in their delivery. Not much of anything in their delivery; but they know. She won't be there.
As for her question...
...
"Maybe not. Doesn't matter." They look down at their blade, shifting it between their fingers. Watching the light play of it's already grimy surface. "They want to die anyway."

But for now they're still talking to her. She follows their gaze to the knife, conscious of the fact that they could try to lash out at the drop of a hat. "How'd you know?" she asks, genuinely curious.

She likely won't make them late at all.
"Done this before. All of it." Every iteration that could be different; there's always abstract aspects to the playing field. Could go like this, or that. No one's stuck on the same script, anymore. They aren't stuck on a script.
Hilarious, how this isn't the way things usually work.
"You're never there."
