What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!

Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!

Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words
Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.
At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.
So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?► This log covers January 16th-January 25th.

Well, uhm, with all the d-doubles running around... they're supposed to, uh, basically be us, right? And, uhm, I know I've seemed like I'm not, uh, d-dangerous or anything, but... I've done a lot of bad things in my life.
[God, all this stuttering around is killing her, but if she makes the reveal too early, Ahsoka won't take it to heart. She has to keep it up, at least for a little while longer.]
And I mean, my d-double might target you, and everything, so you should probably know what you're in f-for.

[ there's a lot of metaphorical blood on her hands, between command decisions and intelligence calls and all the times she's been caught in non-negotiable corners. and she still thinks she's not a bad person, overall. but still- ]

[She turns a bit away from her, pretending to act ashamed.]
Back in the Underground, I c-claimed to have built a robot with a SOUL to get hired. But I lied. And when the King wanted me to study SOUL power, so we could all escape... I made a discovery.
[Suddenly, she's standing up a little straighter. A glint on her glasses that wasn't there before.]
See, humans have this thing in their SOULs called Determination. It's what gives their SOUL the p-power to live after death. I thought it would have the power to let monster SOULs do the same. Except...
[Now, she looks more serious, with just a small smile creeping onto her face.]
The bodies of the Fallen Down monsters awoke, but only for a day. Then... well, Monsters just d-don't have the physicality to handle Determination! They needed to find m-more. And they did. In each other. Their bodies melted together. They lost all consciousness of themselves. And, golly, I just didn't know what to d-do with them!
So I lied.
[Now she's facing Ahsoka entirely, smiling the whole while.]
I did not tell their families. I d-did not tell the King. I locked them up, and left them to die in agony.
[It's... probably pretty evident by now that this isn't the Alphys that Ahsoka might have been looking for.]
