Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

[She laughs, almost carefree. Alright, now we're getting into the fun stuff.]

Now, now, if I revealed everything, you'd have no need to question him. He a-always tells the story best.

[But the binder, well, she can talk about that.]

But I suppose you're referring to the n-notes inside, more than the container. They used to belong to a researcher that Sans and I w-worked with. A brilliant and powerful man, he made a fatal mistake... and erased himself f-from all of time and space.

[She pauses, to let it sink in, before adding a bit more.]

Most who once knew him c-cannot remember anything about him. Much of his footprint on the world has been utterly obliterated. Those notes are his. One of the f-few remaining scraps to prove he existed at all.

[He's entranced. Perfect. She's bought her way out of this conflict yet.]

I could tell you his name, b-but you'll forget it quickly. Fine details are oft hard to remember. Let's call him G.

[Much harder to forget a letter than it is a name. And even that will throw Sans plenty.]

Now. Are you satisfied?

[Please, she will always try to get away with as little as she can. But he speaks again and she outright laughs.]

What isn't he hiding? Please, you'll have to be more specific. The man is an infuriating enigma wrapped in avoidance and bathed in awful hot dog water.

[Like. Please. There's so much to unpack there.]

[This main is a trainwreck, Shadow. They both know this.]

He's incredibly perceptive. If you do something, anything in the public eye, he'll k-know. Note that everyone knows him, but v-v-very few know anything about him. He does this intentionally. His dopey personality is a ruse so you feel comfortable. If he finds f-fault with you, he will bring down justice. And by then you will not know how to counter him.

[She smiles. And that, is the kicker.]

He's incredibly p-physically weak. One hit should be more than enough. Simply corner him, and he's all taken care of.

[She shrugs. It's really just that simple.]

Ask him more yourself if you're s-so curious. I'm sure he'd hate to explain.

Now. Is that quite enough for your insatiable c-curiosity?

[She rolls her eyes, rather dramatically.]

Oh, fantastic. I'm so glad. Am I going to have to climb out the window, or are you g-going to let me use the door?

[She purses her lips and rolls her eyes rather dramatically, just to let him know how much he's inconveniencing her.]

Fine, if you insist on your a-asinine habits.

[She turns, being sure to aim her tail to smack him as she turns, and in a surprisingly graceful motion, swings her leg up outside the window and rolls through. Yeah, she'll be breathing kind of heavily once she's out, but she's not going to give him the satisfaction, damnit.]
