Intro Log: None Hadriel With Left Shark

Warnings: Shark week
What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: February 10th-16th
Warnings: Shark week
Once more, new arrivals will wake up on the ground level of the ruined colosseum. There isn't anything particularly comforting about it, either- everything is a bit cold and impersonal and there is, of course, the fact that nobody remembers just how they managed to wind up here in the first place. That can all be explained in time, though- until then, you've got quite a bit on your plate already.
And why is that? Well, that may be because you're also surrounded by sharks.
Yes, on land.
It doesn't mean that they're totally incapacitated though- you still have your two headed sharks, your giant sharks, and your sharktopus that are more than capable of flopping in your general direction before taking you into a death roll. And don't forget the (far more dangerous) sand sharks, capable of swimming through the ground as if it were water itself. You might want to start to finda life rafthigh ground soon.
But hey, if you manage to get away from the sharks, feel free to help yourself to one of the odd food shaped blankets. These cozy comforters are perfect for your new bed, but they tend to carry a faint scent of the food they represent, so be sure not to sleep on an empty stomach!
Listen to the Jaws theme, grab a harpoon, and get cozy! On your way to safety, make sure to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
man I'm jealous
[ Gladio scoffs, bumping Prompto's shoulder with his. He's well aware that Prompto can hold his own, he just needs a little prodding, right? ]
The Empire? [ That certainly gets his attention. Not enough to distract him from the sharks, but enough to give Gladio a reason to give Prompto another look. He definitely doesn't look so good... But that doesn't make any sense. ] When the hell did they take you?
yah cash me ousside
When we were on the train, heading to Altissia, and-- and Noct and I, we were at the back...
[did that even happen? why is gladiolus looking at him all weird]
Don't you remember? Didn't Noct say anything? Did Iggy?
living the sharknado dream
The train?
[ That's news to him. Which is, yeah, that's weird. ]
Last I knew, we were at Caem. We were leaving for Altissia in the morning.
Re: living the sharknado dream
[this is all sorts of messed up and it shows from how confused and dazed prompto proceeds to look; not his usual, and he's not entirely sure he can keep this up while in the middle of fighting sharks off]
[he shakes his head, and tries lifting the shield again]
Y'think we can get outta here? Sorry, I can't really, fight them off...
no subject
Plus Gladio can tell Prompto isn't messing around. This isn't his usual "help me Gladio I'm lazy and want you to do everything" whine. This is for real. Gladio dissipates his shield and steps closer to let Prompto lean on him. ]
Yeah, we'll figure out what's up later.
[ And he'll go ahead and throw his sword at that approaching shark because that's the kind of badass thing Gladiolus does. ]
Can you walk? I'll carry you.
[ For real, little man. He will. ]
no subject
[he musters the most convincing tone he can. he doesn't want to be a burden, and despite his condition, he'll do his best to show that he's also strong and capable]
[--takes a moment to wow at gladio, eyes wide and filled with wonder, as always--]
[before turning his gaze back to him, a resolute look in his eyes]
I'll follow.
whoops that's not what the enter key is supposed to do
[ He says as if he isn't gonna keep his eye on Prompto half the time, but ya know, gotta give Prompto a bit of room to actually pick himself up. Gladio may not know how way out of here but round buildings only have one way out, generally. An exit shouldn't be too hard to find. Fighting his way out shouldn't be a problem either. Unlike Prompto, Gladio had a good night's sleep. ]
You seen Noct yet?
que escandalo
[climbing up staircases and ducking, or getting out of the way, when gladiolus sees it fit to clear their way--prompto is so grateful to have found him.]
Uh, no. I haven't... seen him in a while... [wait, he already said that] Do you really think he'll be here?
phone tags will do that
[ There's another question there as Gladio shoots Prompto a look. Don't yours?
He keeps them going, eventually fighting off enough sharks that they find... the weird food blankets. Well, that's weird. But useful? ]
Get a load of this. Think it's some kind of trap?
no subject
Oh.
[he keeps the gun on his hand, the familiar weight making him feel a bit more confident about their chances and feeling like he's in more familiar grounds.]
[that is, until they reach the blankets]
...this is the worst kind of treasure you could find at the end of a dungeon. [sorry, he's going to hate your noodle monstrosity]
no subject
...I think we'd better just look for Noct.
no subject
Gladio watches Prompto's hesitation and keeps it in mind. Something is definitely up, but talk can wait.
Also yes, one of them smells and looks like noodles so he is totally gonna pick it up even if it might be a trap. Which it isn't. Yay? ]
You really think it's some kind of reward?
[ Can he keep it? Pretty please? Actually now that he mentions Noct and keeping things, Gladio searches his pockets for his phone. What he finds isn't exactly the one he had in Eos, but it's a phone nonetheless. ]
Let's see if there's anyone out there. I'll send a message, keep it vague enough in case Noct is in trouble.
no subject
[(that reminds him, he's also pretty hungry)]
Would he have time to check his phone at all if he were?
[surprisingly serious as far as prompto is concerned, but the younger of the two huffs a sigh and walks around gladiolus to sit down beside the blankets, also retrieving the phone he apparently has on his person.]
Might as well try to spam him...
[gun on his lap, like he refuses to put it away, and his hands grabbing the phone, he starts typing out... a less than subtle name bomb for noctis]
no subject
We can hope. If he showed up like we did, we'll catch him on his way out. Otherwise... we'll see the ransom note sooner or later.
[ Just being honest. Gladio shrugs even though there's an obvious edge to his voice. He starts getting replies to his texts, but they're not the ones he wants. Instead he turns towards Prompto. ]
So, talk. What's with you?
no subject
[at least, that's what he thinks.]
[leaving the phone be for a moment, prompto bites his bottom lip before coming up with an answer (the simplest one)]
The Empire messed me up. I was being held by them until, minutes ago? I don't really understand what's going on...
no subject
That sucks.
[ Here... u go, buddy. Gladio steps over beside Prompto and tries to put the noodle blanket on his shoulders. Never a man for words, our Gladiolus. ]
We'll find Noct.
[ That's totally code for "You're gonna be okay" okay?? ]
no subject
Yeah. I just...
[the usual prompto dynamic when things are Too Much: rapid blinking, shaking of his head, the uncertain lip biting... the last person he wants to look weak in front of, aside from the marshall (let's be real, who does?), is gladiolus.]
I just hope he's happy to see me again.
[this last bit he says quietly, with an ounce of hope and not quite wanting to be heard.]
no subject
[ Ok, Prompto, you're getting a hand on the shoulder now. Gladio is visibly concerned. This isn't like Prompto at all. But just because Gladio is normally thwr for Noct doesn't mean he can't be there for Prompto. ]
Did you and His Highness get into a fight? C'mon, you know he always apologizes when he's an ass.
no subject
[which is why prompto feels encouraged enough to push down his insecurities for a moment and not let them twist into a torrent of sadness. this much he can do.]
It's not that. Noct wasn't...
[deep breaths, turning slightly damp but confused eyes up at him.]
You really don't remember us travelling to Tenebrae, on the train? Don't you remember, about Ignis...?
no subject
Last I knew, we were at Caem. [ He trails off, squeezing Prompto's shoulder. ] But hey, maybe I hit my head or something.
[ He'd know if he had a head injury, but also Regis is alive? So what even makes sense anymore. ]
What's that about Ignis?
no subject
[he says mostly to himself, shaking his head as if having to relive the memory and retell it is painful. the fact that gladiolus doesn't seem to remember and prompto gets the goddamn honour to tell him is extremely terrifying.]
[but he has to, because now that the other knows something up, he won't desist.]
Caem was a while ago... We didn't know what to expect. Not really. [he's too serious to be making this up] Iggy... He... He got hurt... His eyes, and, he's [this much he spills out with heavy emotion; ignis being hurt to the point of disrepair was too painful] blind. He... He's still pretty good at fighting, but it's not the same. I'm sorry.
no subject
Tch. Dammit Iggy... [ He grits out, his grip on Prompto getting maybe a little too tight. Gladio can easily picture that stoic asshole, probably said "Twas nothing serious" or something when he found out he couldn't see. It sets his teeth on edge, but that's hardly Prompto's fault... ]
Sorry. [ Gladio releases Prompto's shoulder, taking a step back. ] What else happened?
no subject
[he rubs at his shoulder]
[and this is even quieter. it makes him incredibly sad.]
...Lunafreya, she didn't make it.
no subject
[ Wasn't she their only chance at waking the Astrals? Does that mean Noct never got to see her? Gladio may have never had any personal attachment to Lunafreya, but even on Noct's behalf, he's pissed. Everything was supposed to be easy once they got to Altissia. Things were supposed to be simple.
But they never were, were they? Gladio clenches his jaw and spits out a curse. ]
Shit. [ He almost wants to laugh. None of this is funny at all, but it almost sounds like everything that could go wrong, did. ] Everything went to shit, didn't it?
no subject
[he drops his hand, now pulling the blanket closer to himself despite the hilarious food smell]
You got pretty angry. ...at Noct, specially.
[he stops, and then looks up at gladiolus]
I don't know why you don't remember, but I can stop if... if you don't want to hear about something you don't recall.
