Intro Log: None Hadriel With Left Shark

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: February 10th-16th
Warnings: Shark week

Once more, new arrivals will wake up on the ground level of the ruined colosseum. There isn't anything particularly comforting about it, either- everything is a bit cold and impersonal and there is, of course, the fact that nobody remembers just how they managed to wind up here in the first place. That can all be explained in time, though- until then, you've got quite a bit on your plate already.

And why is that? Well, that may be because you're also surrounded by sharks.

Yes, on land.

It doesn't mean that they're totally incapacitated though- you still have your two headed sharks, your giant sharks, and your sharktopus that are more than capable of flopping in your general direction before taking you into a death roll. And don't forget the (far more dangerous) sand sharks, capable of swimming through the ground as if it were water itself. You might want to start to find a life raft high ground soon.

But hey, if you manage to get away from the sharks, feel free to help yourself to one of the odd food shaped blankets. These cozy comforters are perfect for your new bed, but they tend to carry a faint scent of the food they represent, so be sure not to sleep on an empty stomach!

Listen to the Jaws theme, grab a harpoon, and get cozy! On your way to safety, make sure to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Re: text; Such a good man that Gladio was! Too bad he became a red stain upon thy ground

[His right eye twitches yet again in aggravation but this time it's followed by an inhumane growl. He's grateful that no one can hear him. Regis is quite annoyed right now.]

You are truly Clarus Amicitia's eldest born. That much I can tell from your undying loyalty to the Caelum name. It's because of this truth that I cannot fault you into believing me to be some mere shade.

However, believe what I confess to you now: I am Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII, King of Light, Sovereign of Lucis and Guardian of the Crystal. These titles I have passed to my heir, my dear son Noctis Lucis Caelum the Chosen King.

[ Well, he'd better hope this is some joke that someone's trying to pull because if this even remotely real, Gladio has committed the kind of royal faux pas that could very easily cost him his position as Noct's shield.

Either way, Gladiolus should probably not engage any further because this won't end well for either of them. Better to cut this guy off (and ask Noct what the hell is going on,) than continue talking to a troll. Or a specter.

Or he could keep going because this pit he's dug himself is already deep enough. Why not.
]

Bullshit. Regis Lucis Caelum is dead. Along with the rest of em.

[ Don't make him talk about Clarus....... except please do. ]

[While the other cannot see his expression just yet, he might be able to feel the rage ebbing from this reply.]

You flirt upon the edge of a very sharp glaive, Gladiolus Amicitia.

[There's a temporary black screen until the video feed cuts on.]

[When the video abruptly pops on, Gladiolus will find himself being glared at by a pair of livid green eyes.]

The rest of them includes your own father, Gladiolus! Have you forgotten his name!?

[Uh oh. Unless this imposter is absurdly good at his games or that just might be the "real" Regis Lucis Caelum glaring into the screen with teeth gnashed and brow furrowed together in anger. Hopefully it's a fake. It just has to be fake! How in the hell can this be real---]

I take no pleasure in any of this! Many perished upon that dreadful day, all names by which I've committed to memory and mourn for daily. You shan't make light of any of their sacrifices, especially not your father's!

I can't believe Gladiolus Amicitia is fucking dead (1/2)

[ Gladio stares down at his phone, even listening to Regis' voice would be enough to break him out of his stubbornness, but seeing and hearing his dead king talk about his father is definitely more than he can bear. Gladio shuts the phone and puts it down, shaking as he does so. ]

[ Gladiolus doesn't ever want to think about Clarus Amicitia, but he can't even visualize Regis without Clarus by his side. He only wants to think of him regal and strong, always standing stoically by the king's side. How many times had Gladio looked up to him, literally looked up at both of them-- sneaking into the throne room even before he'd officially started guarding Noct?

Thinking about his dad means thinking about the news about Insomnia. Knowing the king's shield, his father, hadn't been enough to save Regis, hadn't been able to stop whatever bastards used a fake peace treaty to slaughter every Crownsguard and Kingsglaive in the Crown City... it wasn't a thought Gladio ever wanted to have. Taking care of Noct had made it easy to push down. Even making sure Iris was okay... it's what his dad would have wanted.

Gladiolus takes a deep breath, stilling his body's reaction. He has to sit down, really read over Regis' messages before he can formulate some kind of response. He's not going to cry, dammit.

Regis is your friggin' king, Gladio. You fucked up.

video; gladio has so many regrets (3/3)

[personal profile] manspreading 2017-02-12 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ Finally, (yes about an hour later,) Gladio responds with a video of his own. It's hard enough to look straight at the camera, but like hell he's gonna back down from the hole he's dug for himself. ]

Your Majesty, I... owe you my deepest apologies.

Re: video; oh gladio! regis shall hug the pain away

[personal profile] kingslight 2017-02-12 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
[When the video feed goes black, Regis realizes they've been disconnected. Whether or not Gladiolus meant to do so on purpose matters not since Regis knows his words struck home. Gladiolus is almost exactly like his father. Clarus had a habit of masking emotions with silence, while his son masks it with indifference. The two are so alike in that regard, that Regis almost feels as if he's speaking to Clarus' ghost.

Even the youth's pained expression reminds him so much of Clarus. That boy took after his loyal father too much unlike little Iris. A smile graces Regis now that his anger has cooled. He remembers when Gladiolus barely reached his knee. He was tall for age but didn't grow any bigger until a little after six or so. Gladiolus was such a sprightly and adorable little boy. He had his father's legendary glower at age ten. Regis remembers it well. His smile fades a little once he's jolted out of his thoughts.

'Gladiolus must be hurting right now...'

Regis brow knits with worry as he sits by the phone staring at it intently in hopes the man calls back. He eventually stops staring at the phone long enough to make a pot of tea. The king needs something hot since the chills of the day have seized him. When he sits back down at the desk, that's when Gladiolus returns at last upon the screen.

A gentle smile lingers upon his lips as he greets him.
]

There's no need for apologies, Sir Amicitia. I merely hope you're safe.

[personal profile] manspreading 2017-02-12 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I, uh, no—Sir. I'm fine. I'm good.

[ Who'd have thought the mighty Gladiolus Amicitia could be reduced to a tiny puddle by his own bull-headedness. He still feels like shit about being rude to the king that's for sure. (Gods, he really misses his dad right about now. What would Clarus think of him? He'd be grounded for life.)

Gladio looks up again, working his composure back slowly.
]

Your Majesty said Noct was on the way, right? I'll keep an eye out for him.

Re: video; crying is perfectly fine! Regis doesnt judge

[personal profile] kingslight 2017-02-12 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[If Clarus was here, the man would've definitely grounded his son but Regis would suggest to lessen the sentence. He's not angry with Gladiolus anymore and his expression is almost serene now. There's worry within his eyes, deep worry. Gladiolus doesn't look particularly well and Regis knows he's at fault here. That's why he's so concern. His words truly did hurt the poor man.]

Be sure to arm yourself well here. The fiends are particularly violent.

[There's an unspoken plea there. Regis doesn't want Gladiolus to follow his noble father into the grave. The urge to protected this behemoth of a man is strong. If Regis was more able, he would fetch Gladiolus himself.]

video; just as long as no one else sees....

[personal profile] manspreading 2017-02-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ Now, Regis, don't you worry. It's not your fault Gladiolus is rude and obstinate, and definitely not your fault that Gladio refuses to address his father's death. Talk of fiends is actually a relief. ]

Monsters I can handle. Your son is in good hands, Sir.

[ There's nothing more important to Gladio than his duty to Noctis, ultimately. Being the king's shield-- like his father before him. ]
