What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: February 10th-16th
Warnings: Shark week
Once more, new arrivals will wake up on the ground level of the ruined colosseum. There isn't anything particularly comforting about it, either- everything is a bit cold and impersonal and there is, of course, the fact that nobody remembers just how they managed to wind up here in the first place. That can all be explained in time, though- until then, you've got quite a bit on your plate already.
And why is that? Well, that may be because you're also surrounded by sharks.
Yes, on land.
It doesn't mean that they're totally incapacitated though- you still have your two headed sharks, your giant sharks, and your sharktopus that are more than capable of flopping in your general direction before taking you into a death roll. And don't forget the (far more dangerous) sand sharks, capable of swimming through the ground as if it were water itself. You might want to start to finda life rafthigh ground soon.
But hey, if you manage to get away from the sharks, feel free to help yourself to one of the odd food shaped blankets. These cozy comforters are perfect for your new bed, but they tend to carry a faint scent of the food they represent, so be sure not to sleep on an empty stomach!
Listen to the Jaws theme, grab a harpoon, and get cozy! On your way to safety, make sure to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[Henry stops, placing his hands on his hips. His tone drips with incredulity. The look he gives Gilbert suggests that he thinks him a braggart.]
You might start by being earnest. You cannot be older than your twenties.
no subject
I'm as earnest as they come. It's because I'm Prussia, you see. The glorious kingdom of Prussia! It all started when I was very young, as the Order of Teutonic Knights, and grew and grew from there. It was pretty much one war after another for my entire existence, one success after another.
[He stops there, hoping Henry already has heard of his awesome self, and that history will fill in the rest. At least he can tell that if Henry was from Earth, he definitely doesn't come from his own time, and might not know that his nation doesn't really exist anymore.]
no subject
[It would be an honour to have one in the Guard. Strange things and folk are a feature in Hadriel — overall Henry is less skeptical than he was a year ago. Yet he can't seem to decide what to make of Gilbert. Prussia, in human form?]
But one claiming to be a kingdom? That is wholly new.
[He never met Muscovy.]
no subject
[And it seems as though Henry is from far enough in the past that Prussia doesn't have to talk about he was eventually dissolved. No one needs to know that if they don't already know.]
And I was at the biggest in size, and had the most wars, when I was a kingdom. You said you're from England, huh. He and I go way back. And he's a better cook than people give him credit for, you know.
no subject
Are you suggesting that all nations possess an actual person...?
[Look, given him a moment.]
Let us just get you inducted.
no subject
At Henry's suggestion, Prussia cracks his knuckles and nods in agreement.]
Right! So what is it I have to do?
no subject
Henry takes a seat at his desk.]
Guardsmen are required to patrol the city daily. Once a month we head into the colosseum to assist the newly arrived, whether it be in battle against the monsters that come with them or to merely direct them to safety. We work with the clinic by escorting the injured to them and defending their staff if they must treat the wounded in dangerous situations. At times of crisis myself and Maketh Tua will call all guardsmen to arms so that we may deal with the incident as best serves the populace. We have an app you will be required to download onto your phone. We only activate it during emergencies. It will periodically prompt you to report in so that we may keep track of the casualties we suffer.
[Henry taps a hand on his desk.]
We shall give you a desk of your own. You will be expected to fill out a report on every patrol and after every incident for our records. We have a coffee maker in the corner and a training area over at the opposite end of the building.
[He reaches down and opens a drawer, pulling out a blue sash which he then holds out for Gilbert to take.]
When you are on duty you must wear this so that you are known for a guardsman. Aid anyone who needs it. Kill beasts when you find them. Be sure to take their corpses to Rage's temple and trade them for ammunition for guns. We have a few members who wield them, even if you do not.
[Henry cocks his head.]
Have you any questions?
no subject
Oh, so you can get guns around here? Or just the ammo? If that's all I have to do, then it should be easy enough to get stocked up. I did manage to get to the armory and got myself a sword. Felt good to be swinging one of those around again!
[He'll take a sash after looking it over for a moment.]
So when does training happen? I wouldn't mind whipping around people here into shape.
no subject
[Henry is content to stick to the weapons he knows. As for the latter question:]
Whenever all parties who wish to involve themselves agree upon it. Organise training as you please.
no subject
Great! People around here need to stop moping and get movin'. Maybe if they get some exercise and learn how to defend themselves, they won't all be so jumpy.
[He's a lot of talk, though. When motivated, Prussia's a perfect worker. Getting him to that point first is a little trickier. Just wait til you find him asleep at his desk.]
no subject
Henry scoffs.]
Do not count on that. Still, it will not hurt to make the attempt.
[He then adds:]
I would like to put your skill at arms to the test sometime.
no subject
[There was one other thing he's been grilling people about, while he's at it.]
Hey, by the way, have you heard anyone making any attempts to get out of here? Like, reversing the door, or tunneling out or something?
no subject
[At this point, Henry is biding his time until after the last of the gods is revived — everything is bound to change then. New opportunities are bound to arise.
Henry writes down some quick notes.]
Have you a preferred weapon?
no subject
Oh, I can use all kinds of weapons. From swords and daggers to bazookas and tanks. What sort of weapons do you even have around here?
no subject
A wide range of weapons which one may find in my time, but none more advanced than that. The armoury is just opposite us should you wish to look for yourself.
