Intro Log: None Hadriel With Left Shark

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: February 10th-16th
Warnings: Shark week

Once more, new arrivals will wake up on the ground level of the ruined colosseum. There isn't anything particularly comforting about it, either- everything is a bit cold and impersonal and there is, of course, the fact that nobody remembers just how they managed to wind up here in the first place. That can all be explained in time, though- until then, you've got quite a bit on your plate already.

And why is that? Well, that may be because you're also surrounded by sharks.

Yes, on land.

It doesn't mean that they're totally incapacitated though- you still have your two headed sharks, your giant sharks, and your sharktopus that are more than capable of flopping in your general direction before taking you into a death roll. And don't forget the (far more dangerous) sand sharks, capable of swimming through the ground as if it were water itself. You might want to start to find a life raft high ground soon.

But hey, if you manage to get away from the sharks, feel free to help yourself to one of the odd food shaped blankets. These cozy comforters are perfect for your new bed, but they tend to carry a faint scent of the food they represent, so be sure not to sleep on an empty stomach!

Listen to the Jaws theme, grab a harpoon, and get cozy! On your way to safety, make sure to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[ Ragnar is embroiled in battle with the shark, futilely attempting to yank his axe free from the oversized fish's teeth. It undoubtedly helps, then, when someone slams the shark across the side with a weapon and stuns it. The beast's jaws slacken and release, and Ragnar quickly wrenches his axe away.

He doesn't immediately land the final blow on the shark, however. Instead, the Viking has been caught off guard with where the aid had came from -- a woman dressed in opulence, with an air to her that reminded him of the royalty he'd seen in England and Frankia.

His eyebrows arch with the surprise. ]
Yes, I am. [ Pause. ] But I think our friend here might still be alive. [ The shark is still twitching. ]

[ The branch was heavy in her hands, her arms shaking with effort but she still gave a smile before turning to look at the shark, her eyes wide. She couldn't believe she had actually managed to stun it for a moment.]

I think it is too, we shouldn't let it regain consciousness. [The man seemed like a capable warrior despite his strange appearance but if Anne could do anything to help with the shark, she wouldn't sit around and be helpless.]

[ He nods, then steps over the shark. Without much more fuss than that, Ragnar swings his axe and strikes a couple strong blows to its head. The beast thrashes at first, tail whipping back and forth, then quickly becomes motionless.

Ragnar wipes his cheek with the palm of his hand, then looks from the shark up to the woman. ]
Thank you, for your help. [ Then he tilts his head, indicating. ] It might be safer to leave this place.

[ What with sand sharks popping out everywhere. ]

[Anne winced at the sight of blood, turning away. She dropped the branch, she wasn't going to be able to run with it in her hands.]

This way looks clear! [She gestured, looking back to see that the shark was dead. It was a gruesome sight but there was no time to get upset about it. Instead, she made sure he was following as she tried to pick the best path away from where the sand sharks were appearing. She nearly tripped but picked up her skirts firmly to keep them out of the way.]

[ The cumbersome skirt receives a brief, faintly amused glance; he's seen a few shield-maidens fight in dresses in the past, but that was usually when they'd been caught unaware in them. He can't imagine running in one is very easy.

Ragnar keeps the axe in his hand in the meanwhile, just in case it was needed. He keeps pace with her and lifts the weapon to point towards an opening. ]
I see an exit over there.

[Anne looked toward where he pointed, nodding as she led them that way. She was winded and by the time they were out she had to stop once they seemed to be out of danger.]

I believe we weren't followed.

[Hopefully. Those sand sharks were awful.]

[ He slows to a stop with her, sliding the axe into its place on his belt. The adrenaline from fighting and running is still making his heart thrum in his chest, but things out here appeared calmer. ]

You are right, I think. [ He's still vigilant, slowly scanning their surroundings, but appears to relax some. Then, after a few beats, his eyes land back on her. ] You were a great help, thank you again. I think that shark had a mind to eat my axe.

My name is Ragnar. What is yours?

There is no need to thank me, it was the least I could do to help.

[Still, the praise made her light up and she gave a laugh now that they seemed to be somewhere out of danger, able to relax more.]

A pleasure to meet you, Ragnar. I am Anne.
