Intro Log: None Hadriel With Left Shark

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: February 10th-16th
Warnings: Shark week

Once more, new arrivals will wake up on the ground level of the ruined colosseum. There isn't anything particularly comforting about it, either- everything is a bit cold and impersonal and there is, of course, the fact that nobody remembers just how they managed to wind up here in the first place. That can all be explained in time, though- until then, you've got quite a bit on your plate already.

And why is that? Well, that may be because you're also surrounded by sharks.

Yes, on land.

It doesn't mean that they're totally incapacitated though- you still have your two headed sharks, your giant sharks, and your sharktopus that are more than capable of flopping in your general direction before taking you into a death roll. And don't forget the (far more dangerous) sand sharks, capable of swimming through the ground as if it were water itself. You might want to start to find a life raft high ground soon.

But hey, if you manage to get away from the sharks, feel free to help yourself to one of the odd food shaped blankets. These cozy comforters are perfect for your new bed, but they tend to carry a faint scent of the food they represent, so be sure not to sleep on an empty stomach!

Listen to the Jaws theme, grab a harpoon, and get cozy! On your way to safety, make sure to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers February 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

He's been filled in with the basic details already, thankfully, but Ragnar is still internally reeling from all the new information. Legends with gods and monsters had always existed in his world and in his life; seeing the physical manifestation of those things, coming face-to-face with it, that was an entirely different realm to deal with.

A smirk edges into his expression. "Ridiculous is a very good word for it." Fascinating, at the very least. "I think I speak for most when I say that I would prefer they stay in the water." It did, however, make for an easy kill. (So he had that going for him, which is nice.)

"What has Hope done to 'suck at it'?" He doesn't know the slang, but it's fairly easy to understand in context.

Weirdly enough, coming from a time period before modern science swept through the world gives him an advantage. Maybe. The gods here aren't really gods, according to them, so who knows.

"Yeah, no, they should not be able to come after us on land." That's like, basic decency. You're safe from ocean creatures on land. Come on, Door.

As for Hope--

"Well, a few months ago, he and Delight tried to send us home, but instead they wound up bringing in four enormous fucking dragons. That was a disaster. And once he tried to show us all the thing we most hope for, which is stupid because most of us'll never get something like that."

Her and Jess, friends again, living their dreams. Emily married -- to a mystery man who looks more and more like Matt in her mind. She can have parts of that, but not all of it. "It was depressing. He's not bad, honestly, he's just like, really out of touch."

It definitely helped him to adjust to the absolute weirdness of this place. While Ragnar wasn't the type to stifle his curiosity about the world around him, being able to accept that some things were preternatural in nature made the transition easier.

"Dragons." Yep, that's what Ragnar zeroes in on. He's stunned, judging by the expression on his face and his tone. "What were their names?" There were a few dragons in the legends that his people passed down through the generations. He assumes, then, that these ones would be of the same kind.

That's what he's focused on? Not Hope's attempts to be helpful, not the cruel tease of the mirrors with their dreams in them, but whether the dragons had names, like they're pets or something.

"I don't know. Killer, Spitfire, icehole, and Steve?" She gives him a stare that says what the fuck. "They're all dead now anyway."
