Intro Log: None Hadriel With Left Shark

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: February 10th-16th
Warnings: Shark week

Once more, new arrivals will wake up on the ground level of the ruined colosseum. There isn't anything particularly comforting about it, either- everything is a bit cold and impersonal and there is, of course, the fact that nobody remembers just how they managed to wind up here in the first place. That can all be explained in time, though- until then, you've got quite a bit on your plate already.

And why is that? Well, that may be because you're also surrounded by sharks.

Yes, on land.

It doesn't mean that they're totally incapacitated though- you still have your two headed sharks, your giant sharks, and your sharktopus that are more than capable of flopping in your general direction before taking you into a death roll. And don't forget the (far more dangerous) sand sharks, capable of swimming through the ground as if it were water itself. You might want to start to find a life raft high ground soon.

But hey, if you manage to get away from the sharks, feel free to help yourself to one of the odd food shaped blankets. These cozy comforters are perfect for your new bed, but they tend to carry a faint scent of the food they represent, so be sure not to sleep on an empty stomach!

Listen to the Jaws theme, grab a harpoon, and get cozy! On your way to safety, make sure to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

I'm-- I'm fine, I didn't-- y-you're here.

[He's... he's here. Again, technically, maybe sort of. He was here when those ton of others were, but this feels more permanent. He came in the 'right' way. At the 'right' time.

And while she's happy to see him, it feels selfish to want. Because he doesn't deserve to be here.]

I mean, of c-course you are, that probably sounds, uhm, completely ridiculous, I just, uhm... didn't expect it. Kind of. Uh.

... H-Has anyone explained to you where you are?

Yes. Several humans.

[He looks a little somber about that, but certainly seems to bear them no ill-will for it.]

And I met Sans on my way out of the arena. He told me you were here as well - though I am sorry to hear it.

Oh! Uhm, y-yes, we've been uh, staying together for a few months.

[Okay, so he's caught up to speed. That's good.]

There are, uh, a l-lot of humans, but uhm... none of them have been, uhm, mean or anything. I mean, uh, they don't... s-seem to know about monsters like us. At all.

That is for the best.

[It's hard to say what humans on the Surface think of monsters now. But certainly it would be easier for everyone if that bitter history were wiped away.]

You will let me know if any of them do become hostile, though, will you not? I should not like relationships between us to become sour again...

[It's so easy, she thinks, to just fall back into old habits. Reporting what she's seen, and heard, and him letting her know to keep an eye out.

Just easy and familiar. Muscle memory for her subconscious. But... that's just memory, now isn't it?]

Oh, uhm, o-of course. I mean, I think, uhm... t-they're not actually from the world we are. I don't think most of them have ever met a monster before, because we didn't, uh, actually... exist there.

[She honestly has no clue how much he might understand about multiple universes or the existence of timelines, but, well, somebody's gotta explain it somehow.]

[He smiles slightly, though it isn't really a happy expression.]

I imagine those from our world have largely forgotten us as well.

It is good that these humans have no...unpleasant memories associated with us. But we were friends with our own humans too once, long ago. We may not wish to let these ones know very much about...well, souls.

[Just not the fact that a monster could take them. That was what bothered the ones so long ago, after all - that all it took was a single monster, killing a single human, to cause a great disaster.]

[She nods in a way she hopes is reassuring, but probably just looks semi-frantic.]

R-Right, uhm, of course. I've met, uhm, a c-couple that have been nice to me, so far, but uh... I understand your caution, and uhm, everything.

... Are you, uhm. A-Are you okay?

[He... he seems so worn down. Was he like this, near the end? When she stopped talking to him, and he stopped calling?]

Why - yes.

[He smiles softly. Poor dear Alphys has always seemed very anxious; Sans says it's just the way she always is, but Asgore still wonders if it isn't just worse around him, perhaps. Some monsters do get flustered with royalty, as much as he tries to be approachable.

(He shouldn't let his own problems affect her.)]

I am quite well. All things considered, of course. [It's an addition - of course coming here is a bit of a Thing.]

[She makes the attempt to look calmer when he reassures her, if only so he feels a little better. It's stressful coming here. She knows that. But there's also a lot of stuff that was unresolved between them.

Then again... maybe it wasn't, for him. It's hard to tell, and this is hardly the time to ask.]

Okay! Uh, I'm g-glad. I know it can be uhm, stressful here, and everything, but it's not, uh, s-so bad! I mean, it's not so bad with, uhm, people you know here and uh, all that.
