We're Nothing Short Of Invincible
Who: Yukari, Regis, Noctis (closed)
What: The shark event, Yukari gets to meet Regis and Noctis
Where: Wide open spaces of Hadriel
When: February 10th
Warnings: Violence, updated as needed
At the very least, this is good exercise and practice. Yukari had been feeling a bit rusty since dying at the hand of Sans' Double, and getting grazed by that Bereskarn in the Silent Hill Zone. Training is an important discipline and allowing himself to slack has been unacceptible. These new shark monsters? They're pretty small-time by his concern. He's never seen sharks that look like this back where he's from. Octopi and sand variations. Odd as they are, though, Yukari isn't fazed by any of it one bit. He's even taking on a few at a time. As well as the swing of his blade, he's making sure to keep up to date on his swift footwork - twirling and flipping dramatically out of the way, taunting the monsters for not being able to keep up with him. He manages to roll the heads of a few more as he steps further down the path to attract more of them.
He melodically hums, as though this were just another day for him. Rather remniscient of home where he would take down vast quantities of men for the Green King without batting an eye. And speaking of the Green King, he releases a large explosion of electricity on one of sand sharks as they charge toward him. Perhaps this was too easy. Perhaps he should draw more to himself. Assuredly, Sans', and his Double's, abilities were a special case. He can handle more than a few of these pathetic beasts. So he'll take on ten and work his way up as necessary. Training is a fine way to refresh what you know, but it's important to give yourself a challenge so that you grow, as well. Swiftly, he dances around more, swinging his sword more vehemently as more start to appear. This felt better, an element he hadn't felt for some time; the pure enjoyment of battle.
Before long though, those numbers seem to have become obsessively high, and dodging is becoming difficult, if only a little. Yukari reminds himelf to focus on his breathing as he sidesteps a two-header and ducks from a sandshark. This... might actually start becoming a problem. He starts discharging more electricity in his blind sides to keep from getting assaulted from behind. When one narrowly misses his arm, he starts to break a sweat. He's not sure where all of these sharks suddenly came from, but it is becoming overwhelming. He keeps his head level as he tries to assess the situation. Just what can he do differently? A shield isn't going to do much good if he's stuck in place allowing more of these beasts to swarm him.
Another narrow dodge, and he spins back, looking for a vantage point, an escape route. Anything to give him the upper hand. Maybe he should call Curufin... He reaches to his pocket when he's sure he doesn't have to immediately dodge a shark... Only to find his phone is missing. His eyes might have widened slightly at this realisation. He must have dropped it in one of his sharp dodges. And, amongst all of these beasts, it's not going to be so simple to just find it on the ground.
Well... It looks like I'm in trouble. He feels himself give a frustrated huff as he goes on the defensive. He tries to attack where he can, but the bolts of electricity are only doing so much. Too bad he can't send telepathic messages to Curufin to ask for explosives and aid.

"Stand back!" Regis calls towards the swordsman once he begun to change spells. Fire seems to work well but he's causing far too much structural damage for his liking. Anything caught within the path of his flames are instantly burned to cinders. That also includes any nearby buildings and Regis certainly doesn't want to be blamed for setting half the city on fire. That's why instead of fire, Regis settles on utilizing ice as he switches magic. It amazes him to this day that he still possesses a mastery over the four elements. Regis had feared he lost all of his powers due to his severed link with the Crystal but he's been blessed.
In just a matter of seconds, the temperature around them cools drastically as pillars of translucent blue ice juts out from the ground all around them. He's forming a makeshift barrier around them using the ice in hopes of slowing the incoming fiends. Many of the bipedal sharks get gruesomely impaled upon the jagged ice leaving a ghastly sight to behold. "I certainly hope you're unharmed." The old king asks as he approaches from in between the icy pillars. He glances towards the young man briefly before turning towards the fiends that remain.
"Noctis!" He calls for his son. "I certainly hope you're up for a challenge."

It was upon the call of his father that Noctis practically descended from the skies.
"Aaaaand touchdown!"
The young prince shoots down with significant speed, brows furrowed as the spear in his hands pierces a remaining fiend right between the eyes.

He puts on a sly smile and offers a bow, all for the sake of display. He wants to figure this guy out before he decides which way to tilt the domino.
"Thanks to you, it would appear I have made it without a scratch. I suppose I am indebted to you, kind sir."
And, at another moment's notice, another one comes falling from the sky, destroying another of the unfortunate monsters with a spear. Two minutes and things are already exceptionally interesting. He's going to have to keep an eye on these two.
"Gentlemen, allow me to thank you properly when this is all over!" He can't help a tinge of delight at the end of that comment.
And he's not about to let them have all of the fun. Yukari charges his sword with Green Electricity as he charges toward another set of the sharks, making quick work of them with a twirl and dancing between them to swiftly remove their heads.

"Excellent work, Noctis!" Regis all but cheers once his son comes crashing down upon the fiends' heads. He smirks a little at the younger Caelum before turning his gaze back towards the swordsman. "Think nothing of debts here since there's nothing to owe." He quickly says with a hint of slight humor in his tone.
"I much rather not allow the fiends overwhelm the city proper lest we seek a bloody end."
The king prepares a few more spells to cast once the swordsman starts charging forward. Green electricity? How odd. Regis decides to hurl streaks of purple lightning towards the remaining fiends while hoping his son thins out the monsters. Hadriel has no need of these accursed land sharks.

"Don't sweat it," Noctis directs at the stranger, where he promptly disappears in a flash of blue light at the toss of his blade. He winds up a few feet ahead, above the enemy where he strikes it from behind.

Yukari activates his Colourless Aura, running up one of the pillars of ice to get a better angle. Then, with ease, he adds more energy to that Colourless Aura, sending out a nigh-invisible wall to knock over a fair amount of the sharks, then charges his way down to finish the ones he's flattened. He's not even breaking a sweat. Who knew working as a group could be this fun? Even if he's in it mostly at this point to see what Regis has got.
Not to say that Noctis hasn't caught his attention either, with that warp attack he has going. Such a skill must surely be useful when battling vast armies. Although, Yukari's not inclined toward destroying his enemies with a sneak attack. He much too prefers to see the looks on their face as he takes away everything they worked for. Although, he's not sure if the sharks are aware enough to even realise what they worked for, much less agonise over it when it's lost. He'll let Noctis have his warp-speed.
As the beasts begin to decrease to meandering numbers, Yukari's able to relax his focus and pay attention to the prize he really wants: Regis. He gives that callous smirk of his, making sure it catches the King's attentions.

A faint smirk lingers upon the king's face as he eyes the swordsman. It seems this has become a contest of sorts. Interesting. Regis isn't above showcasing his power even if he honestly should be at home curled up under a thick warm blanket. The king doesn't have anything to match the Yukari's Colorless Aura but he certainly can create a powerful magical wall around him and Noctis to keep the fiends at bay. This strange paling is translucent like water with a hint of a silver gradient along the outskirts. Regis is one of the few who could still magic here in Hadriel and without the aid of the Ring of Lucii. He done so once before to protect Nyx and Lunafreya from harm and he does so again now.
He gives the swordsman a slight look once he caught the smirk. It seems this has indeed become an unspoken challenge between the two of them. Not that Regis minds it much but he certainly hopes this remains friendly. If not, he'll flatten this fool with one of his spells and be done with it. The old king isn't someone Yukari would want to tick off.

It's then that his father calls upon a small wall of his own, which forces a few more enemies back. Noctis nearly smashes into it, and he grunts as he stops at a skidding halt. When he turns to see the smug look on his face between him and Yukari, Noctis sighs and throws his head back.
"Showboating? Really?"
He gestures at the group of remaining enemies.
"Can this maybe wait when there's, I don't know, one left?"
Dad, you're old. Stop.

In the moment of the two staring each other down, Yukari uses his Colourless Aura toward his Clairvouyance ability. He isn't planning to see far into the future, but just far enough to tell what will happen if he should engage in battle with this man. Yea, he sees that magic being used to flatten him. Offending the King right now is a bad idea, not just for Yukari to not get defeated, but as well that the King would probably shut down around any further endeavours to get to understand this family's circumstances. He doesn't need to officially offend the King. Not yet, anyway. So, for now, friendly competition it is.
"Yes, very well... Noctis-chan, was it?" Yukari lingers in his eye contact with the King a moment longer before turning back to slaughter the remaining beasts. He has to admit, watching Noctis almost get flattened by the King's careless need to show off just as well was quite humourous. "Perhaps you are right. It can wait."
He looks back to Regis. "Shall we, then?"
no subject
"Very well." He replies tersly with a clear hint of agitation in his voice. "Pardon me for my impertinence." He says apologetically to his son before summoning a ball of flame within his hands. "Keep the fiends at bay, Noct! I'll follow you lead for a change." Regis gives his son an encouraging grin. This is too much fun for the old king. To fight side by side with his son; minus this riffraff with the odd hair, is nothing short of a dream. He couldn't be anymore proud of Noctis. The young man can fight quite well.
"Turn your fury upon them! Show them the might you wield."
no subject
"Just trying to be realistic here, guys," He calls out, cracking his neck as he seeks to strike a few more. Noctis activates his Royal Arms, releasing a clean sword that immediately strikes clean through a shark's midsection. With a loud huff, he pulls the blade out, blood splattering along his pale cheeks and arms.
"Can't carry all the weight here!"
That, my friends, is a joke. A lighthearted jab at not having an ego, when the prince so very clearly carries his own.
no subject
Not that he particularly cares. It's just fun to tease.
"You're right, Noctis-chan, it was rude of us to tell you to take care of all of this on your own." He throws a large mass of Green Electricity at another series of opponents. "You are impressively skilled. You must indulge me on them sometime."
Whether that's an invitation to a challenge or a conversation is not quite clear.
no subject
Although, Noctis won't be spared. Regis grins almost mischievously once his gaze reaches his son. Two can play this game, boy. "Spare me the jest, Noct." The King says in regards to Noctis' quick little quip. "I used to carry you all the time when you was a chubby baby." With that embarrassing story out of the proverbial bag, Regis turns his attention towards the rampaging sharks before them. His gaze briefly lingers upon the swordsman again but it's out of wariness and not fondness.
Does the other plan on sparring him? Regis doesn't quite like the sound of that but a challenge should be respected and honored nonetheless.
"I may indulge you upon a later date." The old king says as he casts another round of spells upon their foes. He's not using lightning this time but rather ice to freeze the incoming horde within their tracks. The sharks are encased within thick layers of ice, each shattering once Regis' glaive makes contact with them. By now, the sharks numbers were dwindling and the fight slowly winding down to a close.
