On the morning of January 16th, half of the game's characters wake up to find that they are not where they were when they fell asleep. Instead, they're surrounded by a claustrophobic darkness, cheap satin cushioning, and an intense feeling of weight directly above them. Unfortunately, all of this adds up to the fact that your character has been buried alive.
Luckily, they'll have their phones, which can function as a source of light, communication, and hopeful distraction. They'll be able to talk to the other folks who are buried around the city, as well as their would-be rescuers. Thanks to Hope's timely post on the network, the rescuers know where everyone is, even if they're not sure who is buried where.
This is where organization, planning, and a little bit of luck come in! The aboveground characters will be supplied with shovels via the armory and are encouraged to go dig up their buried friends. Dig quickly though, because the air supply is pretty thin, and by the morning on January 19th, the characters who are not yet dug up will find that oxygen deprivation is a rather unfortunate way to die.
So, grab your communicator, grab your shovel, and get to work!► This log covers January 16th-January 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► Please remember to report any deaths to the Death page!

She's definitely not about to run around in the snow, but she can feel her strength and her mind returning. She's not starving and delirious anymore, and that's what counts. ]
A bit.
[ There's a long pause before Arya speaks again. Words come slowly, and besides, in the night there's no rush. ]
Were you?
[ It's more important Adam gets food and water, Arya knows. Nothing could have prepared either of them for this, but she's spent long periods of time hungry, in the dark, and alone. She doesn't think Adam is quite as accustomed.
There's also the fact that she probably deserved to be put down there. Adam didn't. He didn't lie, kill, and break promises like she did. He's worth something; he's someone. ]

[He had a good deal of water, a little bit of soup, and some crackers. It wasn't enough, not really, he's still weak and he knows his body needs more, but anything more than that and he might get sick. The prospect of that is not at all welcome.
Besides, Adam has been hungry often enough. He could only afford so much food at home, and so he's gotten used to being a little hungry a lot of the time. This isn't so bad.
He squeezes Arya's shoulder, gently.]
If you can sleep more, you should. I couldn't rest down there, I kept waking up in the middle of some nightmare.
[Only to wake up to, well, another nightmare. But he feels like he hasn't been well-rested in weeks, and he wonders if it's the same for Arya. She deserves better than all of this, better than the things they've done to her.]

It's too dark.
[ She says as an explanation. Logically, Arya knows that the dark isn't scary -- it simply is, like the moon or trees or a river. What's hiding in the dark should be a more pressing concern. But first the Kindly Man took her sight, and then these gods buried her in the dark for days, and now it's the dark that makes Arya feel more trapped and frightened than any enclosed space ever could.
She worries that if she closes her eyes, if the dark comes again, it will not lift until she drowns in it. ]
Later, perhaps.
[ And she rests her head against Adam's shoulder, content to be with him in this moment. It's far, far better than being alone. There's a decent chance she'll doze off like that, in the relative safety that company provides. ]

He's exhausted, and Arya's presence is comforting in a different way than Ronan's. She can stay as long as she likes.]
