The Spire apartments are too small for four. But perhaps the housing district. He is still certain he does not deserve this, but The Internet was right. He must do what he can; do some good now, even if it is not truly atonement.
By the time the phone rings, he has already return to the home he shares with the other monsters, and long since prepared food for himself and everyone else. He's alone now, but he would have answered it immediately either way:]
Howdy, Asriel! [His tone is jovial. If he is not living with his son yet, at least it is good to speak on the phone!]

Asriel hiccoughs directly into the phone, his voice thick and snotty and warbly and distorted by great, interrupting sobs as it all just pours out in one big rush:]
D-Daaaad! It's been hours and I've been doing my best to be good and wait but they missed supper, and - and they're not home! I looked in their rooms, and they're not there, and their stuff isn't there either, and - and that means someone must have took it and I didn't even notice even if I've been here for all this time, and they're not picking up their phones, and I've been calling and calling, and I thought maybe it was 'cause my phone was broken, but you answered, and...
[Calm down. Calm down, Asriel. Crybaby fits won't do any good. Crying never solves anything. You know you're only pretending to be worried about them, anyway. You know an empty thing like you can't really care about other people. You're just worked up for selfish reasons. So quit the spoiled act, and do something USEFUL. Flowey may have been awful, but at least he knew how to not be dead weight.]
Frisk and Chara, Dad, they... they're gone. They haven't come home. Their stuff isn't here. I mean... we don't... we don't really have a curfew or a bedtime or anything anymore...
[Why would they? A bunch of kids playing House, with no grown-ups to lay down those rules, none of that structure... why would any of them want to force themselves to be the Unfun One, the Uncool One, the one who Gets In the Way?]
But it's getting late. I'm not... I'm not just worrying over nothing, am I? They... um, did they maybe come to visit you, or something?

[He responds right away, his happy tone gone entirely. Part of that explanation was already spent searching around the house, as if they might have come over and been sitting silently in the living room this whole time, and by now he has already half-written a note. If they haven't come over yet, they likely will not, yet he hates to think of them finding the house empty.
The children may have been taking care of themselves this whole time, but he trusts Asriel's instincts. If he thinks something is amiss, it is. Hadriel can be dangerous. He should have insisted on making the move faster.
Asgore finishes his note, leaves it for whoever may happen by, and hurries out the door.]
I am coming over, Asriel, please wait there. It will be alright.
no subject
[Just have to stay calm. Just have to wait. Maybe... ha, maybe in the time it takes for Dad to walk all the way over here, Frisk and Chara will walk in the door, muddy and giggling and perfectly fine! Wouldn't that be silly? Wouldn't they all have a big laugh together about that? In fact, Asriel bets they'll walk in riiight... now!
...Now.
Now?
...He's being stupid again. Hope is so stupid. The world doesn't actually work like that.]
Um, should... should we tell anyone else? Frisk says I'm not supposed to let Sans in the house, so maybe they'll be mad if he finds out, but... I'm... I'm scared, Dad. I don't - I don't want Chara to disappear again!
no subject
[That - what has Frisk got against Sans? He knows little of their interactions, but he can't imagine Sans made any real attempt to capture them.
But that isn't important right now.]
Don't worry, I will let the others know myself. The more people who are searching, the faster we will be able to find them. We will find them, Asriel.
no subject
[Before they die again. Or... or maybe they just won't ever come home. Maybe they'll hide so good, nobody will ever figure out where they've went.
Maybe Chara has found some other kid, and he'll NEVER see them again.]
Dad... please hurry. It's not safe outside. Maybe they're hurt. Maybe they fell somewhere, and maybe they're crying for help, and nobody's answering!
no subject
[And he is - he can move very quickly for a creature his size, when he has a care to, and no one is eager to get in the way of a rushing Boss Monster. Asriel's words only make him want to go and search the faster, but he cannot do so until he's sure his son is safe.
It isn't long before he's there, knocking at the door.]
Asriel!
no subject
But then Asgore calls out, and he remembers that it makes no sense that Frisk or Chara would knock on the door to their own apartment.
He still bolts for the door, still yanks it open, still all but hurls himself at his Dad, starving for the security and comfort of his father's warm, safe arms.]
D-Dad! Did - did you see them on the way here? They still haven't called!
no subject
I did not. We will go and look - Asriel, did they leave anything here that could tell where they have gone?
[He's not really thinking, yet, that they've run off on purpose. His first instinct is that they were simply waylaid on their way, by some creature like the sharks, or even a stranger from another world. But if he knows where they intended to be, that's a start.]
