He Who Hunts Monsters
Who: Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII & Whomever else [OPEN]
What: After finally getting his injured leg healed thanks to Carlisle, the King of Light decides to test his resolve against a few fiends for the sake of training. However, the old man forgets he's no longer as young as he once was twenty years ago.
Where: Near the entrance of the Caves.
When: Evening (Ongoing)
Warnings: Fantasy violence, possible Injury, accidental swearing
It all starts as a flash of fantastic light that shatters the gloomy tranquility of this onimous cave. In just mere seconds, beasts all types came pouring out as a cloaked swordsman stood before the entrance with such a smug grin. Regis had hoped to test out his skills against a more worthy opponent but these beasts will do.
The king quickly summons forth his glaive and makes short work of the first fiend that shambled towards him. Regis might lack the agility and speed of his youth but the King still has his strength. With out breaking a sweat, Regis manages to cleave right through one of the many dog-like fiends. A messy display of blackened blood spills forth as Regis swings his sword through the chest of the next varren. The king keeps up the momentum with relative ease as the hounds circle him menacingly. He cuts them all down with just a few well aimed strikes before having to take a moment to catch his breath.
Regis instantly creates a translucent silver shield around himself to stop the incoming fiends from slashing at his throat. His eyes glow menacingly as he taps into his magic. It still surprises Regis that he can wield such power here in Hadriel. Maybe the Gods felt benevolent to grant him some of his abilities or maybe they're in need of a good show. Either way, Regis is grateful that he can keep the monsters at bay long enough to gain his second wind.
Unfortunately, the towering green Malboro that slithers out of the cave has other plans for the pesky king. The overgrown plant fiend flicks its green vines harshly against the the barrier with enough force to make Regis wince some. The Malboro's unrelenting strikes were enough to stagger Regis momentarily but the shield holds. It seems that the King could use some help here.

He gives the swordsman another glance and nods. "Then you have my gratitude." Regis replies curtly with actual sincerity. While he honestly doesn't quite trust the swordsman, Regis at least acknowledges that Yukari is a possible ally and not a foe. "You might be better suited for these caves than I." The king admits with an uneasy chuckle. It's difficult for him to admit to his faults sometimes even after all these years.
"I admit this is my first venture here to these odd caverns. I know naught of what lurks here beyond the hounds and vines."

His experience was a rather... unpleasant one. He's not going to forget the smell that the Bereskarn gave off anytime soon.
"If you venture too far into the depths, here, you'll somehow end up looped back to the beginning. I've never understood how it works. If it's the land, or the deities that causes it. But, rest assured, you can't stay lost down here. And, even if you do, well... Dying doesn't really have a price."
He indicates his right eye with a swift wave of his hand and a smile.
"So, tell me, then: Do you plan to continue?"

"The purpose of this journey is to train not to test my mortality." A faint sigh escapes him. Hopefully this cave isn't infested with anynore Malboros. Battling another fiend like that poisionous weed would be quite detrimental to Regis' health. He can't stand their foul odor but then again, not many can. In Eos, Malboros are still considered to be quite the threat.
"Shall you accompany, Yukari? The invite stands unless you mean to wander off."

Said partially to taunt the King, and partially to keep the King from suspecting just how long he was there in his observing state. That's something he can bring to the surface later. But the information he learned during that time is far more valuable than honesty. If Regis' suspected anything of Yukari's knowledge, then either he is that fool to trust Yukari into the depths of such a place, or else wouldn't trust him at all.
At the invitation, Yukari does seem to give it a genuine moment's thought.
"Hmmm... I suppose I wouldn't mind battling alongside you." Different from battling you, but I suppose I could learn the same answers this way. He would like to see just how much Regis is capable of. Especially not being fully recovered from that last magical attack. "Besides, training together might prove more effective to the both of us."

He purposely ignores that poke at his character and focuses on the latter. "I'm humbled you've accepted my invite." The King of Light says with a hint of a smile upon his lips. "I'm certain we'll learn much from each other." Regis is definitely keeping his eyes on Yukari. The pesky swordsman may owe him a bit of loyalty for saving his miserable hide twice but Regis doesn't dare trust him. Something about those mischievous eyes puts him on edge. It's as if the young swordsman is looking for a weakness.
"Since you're familiar with these caves, shall I ask for you to lead?" He doesn't trust Yukari to walk behind him lest he wants to sword through his back.

Even still...
"I'd be delighted to." His voice lilts along with that statement. He might be enjoying this far too much. He turns and leads the way, allowing Regis to follow.
Yukari contemplates carefully what to talk about. The King has already been rather dodgy for Yukari's other questions. He decides to start with something simple.
"So, tell me, what do you think of it here so far? Hadriel?"

While he's wary of the fiends that lurk within the shadows, Regis is more concerned about the swordsman. Yukari is a dangerous fiend. The young man just feels dangerous to him. If he had it his way, Regis would've never enticed this youth's curiosity in him. It seems like that friendly exchange became more like an unspoken declaration of war. Regis sighs somewhat. This is an unnecessary headache and he already suffers from enough aches and pains.
"Tell me, what do you think of this fickle realm?" Regis questions suddenly.

"I personally find this place rather delightful. Certainly, it is not filled with the tasks and pleasantries of home, and there have been inconveniences. Some I would have rather not endured at all. But..." Yukari's smirk changes into something of a softer smile. "There are things here I could have never found at home, either. Things that I prefer, and am willing to give up the life of my homeworld for."
If only it means that he and I will never be separated.
"I do not, however, support these deities, either. They seem more like superiour and strong mortals than Gods. However, with that in mind, I give them the same respect as I would anyone else."
Which his hardly any, but he has met at least on deity he likes.
