Good morning, new arrivals! Or, well, it's probably morning. The sun is up, anyway. Okay - not the sun, but that ball of light at the top of the cave that functions as the sun, anyway. Whatever. The point is you've woken to find yourself on the floor of Hadriel's colosseum. You may be wondering where you are and what you're doing here, but what you should be wondering is how fast you need to run to get away from a three-headed snake.
You're not the only one who just woke up. Also to be found in the arena, angry and confused, are Runespoors - large three-headed snakes. Only one of the heads is venomous, but all of them are perfectly willing to take a bite out of you if you get too close - or if you annoy it. If you're lucky, an attacking Runespoor may distract itself via infighting between the three heads, giving you time to run. If not, well, let's just hope you can fight off all three heads at once!
But that's not the only thing you might find. Also scattered around the colosseum floor are what look like tasty snacks. Popsicles, cheese, even toast! Unfortunately, if you get hungry and take a bite, you will quickly discover that each and every one of these is actually soap. So that's great. Maybe the Door thinks everyone needs to shower more? You can also find a few that actually look like soap, and if you're really lucky, you might stumble across the rare and coveted 'pile of baby hands' soap.
With luck, you didn't get eaten by a snake or accidentally eat a piece of soap. Once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers March 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Snakes aren't the only things that show up here.
[This place likes to delight with all kinds of crazy.]
Look, I'm not in charge around here, but either way, there's brawling and then there's attacking someone. I guess it depends on the situation and who starts it.
And if I really wanted to hit you, you might not get back up.
[Maybe he'll find that last remark funny, but she's damn serious. Jill has taken out bigger guys than him.]

Oooh, is that right? [He was practically beaming within seconds. As it turns out, the idea of getting punched in the face is what makes him like you.] At least you've got the nerve to say it. We should prove that sometime.
[Look, he'll even stand to introduce himself.] Jacob Frye.

I don't just have the nerve to say it. [She's got the nerve to do it.] But I don't go around getting into fights for fun. [There's a pause, however, as she considers it further.] Sparring, on the other hand, might be different.
[Jill hasn't had a sparring partner of any kind since she got here. She didn't think she was getting rusty, but she does like to keep in top condition. When he stood to introduce himself, she did the same by slipping off the desk and onto her feet.]
Jill Valentine. Do you usually like to let the cops know about you when you show up somewhere new, Jacob?
no subject
[He'll leave it at that, though, just for some mystery. She's earned a genuine grin out of him; it wasn't just to turn heads.] You'll punch me in the face under the guise of sparring? That's clever, Valentine. But I wouldn't hold back.

It was nice to see him wearing a smile that wasn't smug or cocky. He probably did turn heads with that smile; Jill would notice it a bit more were her head not already turned by another.]
I didn't say that, but you should watch what you wish for.
[He loved to fight, that's for certain.]
You ever considered using all that strength and talent for helping people instead of looking for bar brawls to jump in to?
no subject
He'll probably get distracted by asking robocop Nick how he even exists, so it's fine. For now.] It helps people when you knock the right person, doesn't it? No one can go plotting the end of the world if they're bedridden with a case of bad Fryes.
[Perhaps he should give a serious answer,] If you're asking me to be a bobby, I'm sorry. I'm allergic to authority. Pretty severe.

As for his feelings against joining the police force, she shrugs lightly. No hard feelings on that.]
Can't blame a girl for trying.
[She's starting to think he won't be as much trouble as she originally pegged him, though, which is a good thing. Jacob just had a rebellious personality. That didn't entirely make him a criminal, though Jill has a feeling some on the force won't find him quite as amusing as she does.]
no subject
[With how he's going to make "friends" with the guard commanders, Jacob's already found others that don't find him amusing to make up for it. He'll meet Henry in a tavern-- speaking of which,]
Do you fancy a drink from time to time, Valentine?
no subject
[She hasn't done much of that since she's been here, but Jill wouldn't say she has many friends, despite the amount of time she's been in this world. There's only one person she'd say she's actually close to. Who probably really knows her.]
