Good morning, new arrivals! Or, well, it's probably morning. The sun is up, anyway. Okay - not the sun, but that ball of light at the top of the cave that functions as the sun, anyway. Whatever. The point is you've woken to find yourself on the floor of Hadriel's colosseum. You may be wondering where you are and what you're doing here, but what you should be wondering is how fast you need to run to get away from a three-headed snake.

You're not the only one who just woke up. Also to be found in the arena, angry and confused, are Runespoors - large three-headed snakes. Only one of the heads is venomous, but all of them are perfectly willing to take a bite out of you if you get too close - or if you annoy it. If you're lucky, an attacking Runespoor may distract itself via infighting between the three heads, giving you time to run. If not, well, let's just hope you can fight off all three heads at once!

But that's not the only thing you might find. Also scattered around the colosseum floor are what look like tasty snacks. Popsicles, cheese, even toast! Unfortunately, if you get hungry and take a bite, you will quickly discover that each and every one of these is actually soap. So that's great. Maybe the Door thinks everyone needs to shower more? You can also find a few that actually look like soap, and if you're really lucky, you might stumble across the rare and coveted 'pile of baby hands' soap.

With luck, you didn't get eaten by a snake or accidentally eat a piece of soap. Once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Shuuya is wandering around, curious about these odd soaps and seeing if he can find the funniest one. But, when he stumbles acrost Mikoto, he wants to know why this guy is staring at him. And then he's offered a piece of the dead snake-thing. He gives a grin.]

Uhh... no thanks. I think I'll have to pass on that one.

[Something along the lines of eat or be eaten, he supposes. He stuffs his hands in his hoodie pockets, his grin never fading.]

How'd you manage to do that, though?

[He hasn't seen tools here, and he certainly doesn't see any remnant of a fire pit.]

[ He shrugs and takes another bite of the crispy cuisine, a frown visible as he chews. It's not as tasty as he first thought but who's he to waste food. Once he's done, he languidly stretches before standing. He looks around, taking in the spartan decor. ]

What is this place?

[ ~~He sure did ignore your question in favor of finishing his food.~~ ]

[Oh, man, the look on Mikoto's face when he takes another bite. Shuuya can't help but snicker. And at Mikoto's question, he just gives a casual shrug.]

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm new, too. This place is kind of like a soap opera, though.

[Noting, of course, the soaps that have been found laying around amidst the chaos they've all been thrown into. He also can't help but laugh at his own joke, either.]

[ The joke doesn't go unnoticed but neither is it appreciated. Rather than comment on it, he pulls out a cigarette from his pocket and with a flick of his finger, lights it as he takes in a long drag letting the familiar scent calm him. ]

Hnn.

[ He takes another drag of the cigarette before his eyes settle back on him with a bored expression. ]

Who are you?

[Ah, so that's how he did it. Fire magic.He's, of course, joking. He doesn't expect that ability to be something that can be taught.]

Shuuya Kano. Nice to meet you. [He's only more than happy to give his name. Far as he can tell, that's probably a good thing.]

You're pretty chill for a place like this. I had to run the second I got up. [He laughs.] Waking up to three-headed snakes and strange bars of soap isn't something I'd call an ideal bed and breakfast, y'know?

[ Not taught, but given freely to those who could face his flames.

The name means nothing to him, so his attention mainly follows his description of his wake-up call. ]

Hnn.

[ He had a similar experience, his aura devoured the creatures the moment they attacked. The last one - his meal - he encountered after the fact and well, he was hungry and the thing was insistent on trying to eat him. ]

You know the way out?

[ It'd be a hassle if he had to go looking for it. He wasn't hungry anymore and he was sure Izumo would probably tell him to avoid incinerating living creatures. ]

A bit. I found my way out once and came back to look around a little.

[Gotta inspect these places, y'know?

He gives a grin.]

If you want, I can show you. It shouldn't be too far.

[ Golden eyes fall on him as Mikoto takes the cigarette from his mouth, tapping out the end. ]

Lead the way.

[Awesome! Helping out this cool guy? Piece of cake. He gives another grin and turns to lead the way out.]

Yea, sure thing!

So, what's it like in your homeworld?

[So far, Mikoto hasn't been talkative. But Shuuya will give conversation a shot anyway. If nothing else, it passes the time while they walk.]

[ ~~What are you talking about? He's been plenty of talkative, even stringed one whole sentence together!~~

Mikoto slips his hand in his pocket and lets him take the lead. He takes in the sights, remembering the route as he takes a long drag of his cigarette. ]

Can't say it's anything like this.

Well, geez, I'd hope not. [Shuuya chuckles. He's fine with doing all the talking if this guy doesn't want to.]

I mean, I had some interesting situations growing up as a kid, so some of this feels like home. But I can't say I grew up expecting these kinds of weird situations. Waking up in some weird cave like I'm a gladiator in Rome or something. [He gives a shrug.] But, I guess you just gotta roll with the punches, am I right?

[ ~~Fill the silence Shuuya because this guy sure won't.~~ ]

.......

[ That line has him turning back to look at him. Home? ]

[ He studies him. ]

You learn or you get swallowed up by the world.

[If Shuuya is aware that he's being studied, he's giving no sign of it. He just keeps leading the way. When he gets to a large door, he stops in his step before it, not facing Mikoto.]

....What do you think happens to those who get swallowed into the Void?

[It's kind of an off-the-wall question, said casually enough, and Mikoto may have no idea what he's talking about. And it's the vagueness of the question that Shuuya is clinging to. He wants just enough of an answer, and nothing else. to leave no clues to his past.]

[ Mikoto has been around long enough to understand there's more to that question than meets the eye. He's accepted all sorts of people into his clan and some, like Eric, didn't come from clean beginnings. ]

They disappear.

[ He looks up, blowing out a stream of smoke. ]

And if they're lucky, someone remembers them.

I see... [He supposes that means there's no hope then, but he had kind of suspected as much.

He pushes the door open, leading into the caves and turns back to Mikoto after he steps through them, grinning.]

Welp, this is it, then. The way out as I promised.

[ Mikoto steps through the gates, taking a moment to look at the world around him. He stretches, flexing his power. It's a far cry from Shizume City but it would do. ]
