Intro Log: Welcome to the Snave (snake cave)

Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

Warnings: Snakes! Snakes! It's a snake!

Good morning, new arrivals! Or, well, it's probably morning. The sun is up, anyway. Okay - not the sun, but that ball of light at the top of the cave that functions as the sun, anyway. Whatever. The point is you've woken to find yourself on the floor of Hadriel's colosseum. You may be wondering where you are and what you're doing here, but what you should be wondering is how fast you need to run to get away from a three-headed snake.

You're not the only one who just woke up. Also to be found in the arena, angry and confused, are Runespoors - large three-headed snakes. Only one of the heads is venomous, but all of them are perfectly willing to take a bite out of you if you get too close - or if you annoy it. If you're lucky, an attacking Runespoor may distract itself via infighting between the three heads, giving you time to run. If not, well, let's just hope you can fight off all three heads at once!

But that's not the only thing you might find. Also scattered around the colosseum floor are what look like tasty snacks. Popsicles, cheese, even toast! Unfortunately, if you get hungry and take a bite, you will quickly discover that each and every one of these is actually soap. So that's great. Maybe the Door thinks everyone needs to shower more? You can also find a few that actually look like soap, and if you're really lucky, you might stumble across the rare and coveted 'pile of baby hands' soap.

With luck, you didn't get eaten by a snake or accidentally eat a piece of soap. Once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

My sister and I faced off with a questionably mustached man who was going to use it to take over our country. Fighting it hurt. a lot. Getting thrown by a force ten times your strength so easy is humiliating

She offered it when it was over, but... I didnt wind up taking it. Itd be awfully boring changing everyone's minds to agree with you forever, right? It is too heavy and too much thinking for me

You're a rare sort. In my experience, there aren't many men who would turn away the opportunity to make "everyone agree with you". Wars are started for that kind of power; Empires fall, et cetera. I would know.

[There is a delay between this and the next part, however. As if he's deciding whether or not he wants to even reply to the notion of living forever.]

I imagine it would be utterly tiring.

Just don't see the point in living in a world where everything's how you want. Where's the challenge? How do you grow when you're smashing everyone under your thumb?

You spend a lot of time with those type, Zuni?

Individuals concerned with power likely could care very little for personal growth, I think. That would require a modicum of self-awareness.

I do. I was Chancellor of Niflheim back in my homeland, you know. [Was.] Frequently in the company of an Emperor whose thoughts were of nothing more than war and power. It was a novel sort of experience.

I'll pretend I know what that title means, just for you

I'm sure it kept your pockets deep. Y leave? Too much? Lap dog? woof?

You know what a Chancellor is, don't you? Niflheim is a place, an empire. That's all one needs to know for the sake of context. [So get out of here with your sarcasm!]

I didn't leave. The Emperor died a most tragic sort of death, and with Niflheim thrown into disarray, my role changed accordingly.

That sounds rather convenient for whatever a Chancellor is

I wouldn't concern yourself with my fall, Jacob. I'm firmly planted in the situation I had found myself in, prior to being stolen away and tossed into a cave.
