Enlighten Me, Reveal My Fate.
Who: Yukari, Percy, and Curufin (Closed)
What: Yukari being an asshole; Team Confusion prerogative.
Where: Near Guard HQ
When: Patron God Event 3/18
Warnings: Aggressive behaviour, maybe? Will update as needed.
Yukari hadn't actually fully decided how he was going to use his skills to confuse others, although he had given a suggestion or two to Curufin for Team Sorrow. He certainly hadn't thought of anything particularly distinct in his methods of choice. He could certainly see and understand why he's on Confusion's team, being the sort of person he was. Confusing people back at home was something of a side effect to just what he happened to do. He's a difficult man to peg if you don't understand his motives. And he supposes he behaves similarly here, too, if Confusion is choosing him as a teammate. And he's decided to rather abuse the opportunity to have a little fun, though he couldn't care less if his team wins or loses. In fact, he hasn't even sought out his active teammates. He has a preference to do things his own way. He's done teamwork before, but it is oh so rare for the mercenary. He loves being responsible for his own actions alone. A sense of delight tingles through him when he gets to do things his way and his way alone.
Now, it certainly isn't as though he hasn't got a wide array of victims to choose from. Perhaps too many still have no idea who he is. He can certainly use that to his advantage. Yukari doesn't go out of his way to meet people often, and only catches the ones that appear interesting in some manner, really. Without a King to command him, there isn't much of a point to engage with the general populace for much else than personal gain. And, certainly this trip isn't any different as he seeks out new people to meet. He's certainly humouring a few ideas to different approaches as he walks around Hadriel for any opportunities. However, when he sees the Guard HQ building, he remembers an old desire of his to harass them. In fact, this would be a nearly perfect way to cause some confusion, and some Chaos as a result. This is going to be delightful for him.
Yukari approaches the building gracefully, examining it's exteriour first from the front, and then along to the side, as if looking for something along those walls. He curiously traces his hand along them as he moves further back, melodically humming along, pausing to trace his hand up further in some places, as if that fragment of the wall has something that makes it different from the rest of it's structure. To be honest, he's partially convinced to destroy one of these walls, and the smirk on his lips as he observes might make that evident.
Nevermind that someone special also works here and would be affected just as much by this enedeavour as the rest of the Guard. Yukari certainly doesn't mind inconveniencing the Elf with such a matter.

Without a second thought he follows with quick strides.
When he sets eyes on the man he feels like he should know him, but nothing concrete comes to mind. He pushes that half-formed sense of recognition aside. It's clear, regardless, that this person has ill intentions.
"What are you doing back here?"
Henry demands sharply.
no subject
"Ah, Captain Chivalry-chan~, fancy meeting you here." He lilts his voice, obviously taunting the Knight before him. "I'm just admiring the architecture. This is a rather remarkable building you have here."
Sure would be a shame if someone... ruined it.Yukari drops his hand from the wall, setting it on his hip as he turns his full attention to Henry.
"And what can I do for you, hmm?" He gives a wink with that question.
no subject
His gaze briefly flicks to the wall, quickly checking to make sure that nothing has been placed on it. He remembers Sato's explosives. It's only been a month since Rey made a deal with Tranquility to repair the last of the structural damage from that assault and the doubles.
Finding the bricks clean, his eyes return to the other man.
"Have we met?" Henry asks, before taking an authoritative step closer. "Regardless, there is naught more for you to 'admire'. Avaunt."
no subject
As Henry steps closer, Yukari doesn't back down in the slightest. Instead, he presses a slender finger to his smiling lips as he ponders Henry's actions.
"And who's to say I shouldn't admire them? It was Curufin that provided the means for their repairs, wasn't it?" He quite remembers seeing it in all of it's destruction as well, Henry. And he knows Curufin aided much in the repair of the Guard HQ thereafter, Captain Hangover. And, in case Henry missed that, the fact that he doesn't have a suffix attached to Curufin's name should be at least an indicator where he and Curufin stand.
"I'm rather offended, you know. You don't remember me after the way you handled me?" He clicks his tongue ind disapproval, folding his arms. "You were rather rough you know."
He'll let you interpret that however you want, Henry.
no subject
Henry is about to comment on that connection nonetheless — if this man knows that Curufin put work into the reconstruction, then he should understand why they don't want people loitering back here — but is halted by the words that follow.
They throw him off guard.
"What...?!"
It escapes him in a startled burst, his confusion readily apparent as his mind whirls. The feeling that he should remember strikes again. He cannot dismiss the claim; there might be a thread of truth in there somewhere, even if he finds the other man shifty.
His eyebrows draw in and he grits his teeth.
"Just what are you implying?"
He's not interested in allusions.
no subject
"You mean it isn't obvious? Although, I suppose in your drunken stupor, it may have been so easy for you to forget. Pity, and it was such a wonderful time. It's no wonder you hadn't called me if you can't remember." Yukari gives a faint-hearted sigh as he rests his hand on his own cheek, as if distraught by his fact. "I suppose that's my fault, having believed you when you could barely stand. You were so adamant, though. Stubborn, even~ How could I resist your charms?"
He's hardly lying, is the interesting part of this. Every one of Henry's actions and reactions could be accounted for in what he's said. He's just giving it a little bit of a twist to his advantage.
Although, for just a little dramatic effect, he gives a slightly pained look, moving to set his hand on Henry's arm.
"It's alright, I don't blame you for it... What is but one night?"
no subject
Rather than provoking him, Henry feels a pang of guilt at the suggestion. He is left speechless.
Though there is a part of him that is dubious.
He paces a few steps off to the side, then pauses, cocking his head.
Henry is not someone who gets blackout drunk often. The last time was on the day of his revival, so it must have been then. He supposes that the man is objectively fair even if different to his normal tastes, but the attitude he's seen this far holds no appeal for him.
Does that matter when one is drunk? He cannot say.
Yet the more he considers it, the faster his unnecessary guilt dissipates.
That level of drunkenness is simply not conductive to such pursuits. and what of the note he left himself that night for the morning after?
Henry's eyes narrow.
"...Yukri, was it?"
Look, he wrote himself a reminder while extremely drunk. It can't be a huge surprise that as a consequence he butchered the foreign name he only heard.
Those errors takes nothing from the message itself, which he recalls clearly. It is beneath me to fight him.
no subject
Ahh, and there it is: the delightful narrowing of the eyes. It would seem the guessing game has come to an end.
"Hmm... close. Yu~ka~ri~." A wink and a delighted chuckle, he places a hand on his hip. "So you do remember? And here I was worried. Bravo~. Tell me, what gave it away? And don't worry, I'd never sleep with anyone like you. I do have higher standards than that. Your chastity is in place."
Messing with the bull to see how sharp the horns are.
no subject
What decent person would try to convince someone that, while blind drunk to escape the trauma of their death, they bedded him and then abandoned him, only for the opportunity to see their reaction and ridicule them for it?
It's a relief to Henry's dignity that they have no association. The promise that they shall never have one is a blessing, not an insult. he has little patience for dishonourable acts.
"Incredible," he says derisively as he shoot Yukari a look of disgust, "to meet one so divorced from the truth of their bearing."
Henry returns to the wall.
"I wrote myself a message. Now I see why."
no subject
"Hmm, call it a lesson lived and learned. Perhaps you should do well to not drink yourself so heavily. You had rather set yourself up for it. If you don't drink so much, you remember everything, and then such gambits would not befall you."
In other words, show restraint, Henry, or else you can expect alot more grief from people, especially people like Yukari.
Yukari pulls the sword out of it's sheath and Green Electricity crackles along the blade.
"Now if you'll excuse me, you're quite in the way. I would like to attend a date tonight when I'm finished."
no subject
The crackle of electricity along that blade does nothing to faze Henry.
"No."
Keeping himself between the wall and Yukari, Henry lifts his shield to a ready position, his grip on its handle secure. His sword hand, rather than closing around the pommel of his blade, plucks his phone out of a pouch hanging on his sword belt. Keeping his unyielding sharp gaze on Yukari, he uses the periphery of his vision to scroll through and stop at the right name. He puts the call on speakerphone.
Let them see how much truth Yukari has spoken.
"Curufin. A supposed friend of yours sees fit to appreciate your construction work at headquarters by destroying it. Come and put an end to his folly before I am forced to act."
audio / action
"Percy, I'm just on the far side of the bridge. I'll be there in about three minutes. Yukari, don't do anything, okay? I'll see you soon."
Out there in the always-nighttime of the Hadriel environment, Curufin stands in the rather eerie glow that is cast by Confusion's temple. With a swift flourish of his hand, he disconnects and then tucks the phone back into his pocket. He lopes quickly across the bridge with his long-legged stride. He can spot the two figures at the back of the building a minute before he gets there. They may be able to hear him coming, even though his footfalls are quiet as compared to your average mortal's feet. The substrate is gravel, dirt, and brittle grass, and those deft feet disturb those surfaces a little.
It's true that he and others worked on the repair of the building for a few days before the gods took over and finished it. Curufin wasn't too sorry. When he and his very small crew pulled down the wreckage, they found more extensive structural damage than he had expected, and the work went slowly. They still could have finished it, but it would have taken more time and more scrounging for materials than he had estimated. This way, it was done, and it left him and others free to attend to other Guard matters.
He hurries up the long, low-grade slope to the building, to greet the two would-be combatants. "Now what seems to be the trouble here?"
no subject
That shield, well, he doesn't think it would do much to actually stand in his way, if Yukari truly wanted to compel some damage. But he's more just antagonising Henry at this point than being truly interested in destroying the Guard Headquarters anymore. So he doesn't move to fight.
"Like a true Captain, willing to go down with your ship, are you? And what should you do if I attack, hmm?"
His tone is almost melodic, and somewhat condescending. And when Henry pulls out his phone and calls Curufin, he actually couldn't be more delighted. Hearing him on speakerphone is rather nice, but Yukari so prefers video. Not that it matters, being on Henry's phone. And at the basic command to sit and wait, he'll obey for now.
"But of course, Curufin~ I'll be waiting."
With Curufin's arrival, Yukari hasn't moved from his spot, although, he has subsided his Green Aura and the sword is relaxed at his side. If Henry is trying to be intimidating in any manner, Yukari is completely unfazed by it, perhaps even jabbing a few taunts at the Knight. And when Curufin approaches more closely, greeting them in question, Yukari turns more toward him, his smirk unfading.
"I'd hardly consider it a problem. I'm just having a little fun. Captain Chivalry-chan seems to be rather offended, though. I just wanted a little Chaos to create some Confusion. Although I must say your Captain is a little gullible. Or perhaps there is another word more suited for what I'm thinking of."
He gives Henry a glance, his eyes sparkling mischievously.
no subject
For his part, Henry merely returns his phone to its pouch, rests his sword hand on his pommel, and waits.
When Curufin shows up, he says to the elf, "Take him away from here."
He ignores Yukari's words.

"Oh, but Curufin, I'm not finished."
The Electricity crackles along the blade again as he erects a nigh-invisible wall with his Colourless Aura, moving to use it as a force to shove Henry out of the way so he can get a better shot. If Henry's going to be such a killjoy, Yukari might as well do what he originally came for. If the barrier shove works, Yukari will swiftly swing his sword to break down the nearby wall. If for some reason it doesn't work, well, he'll just have to decidedly be patient, won't he?
But he needs something for his efforts. Let's see how above it you really are, Henry.
no subject
It's a kindness to Curufin that he doesn't follow up on the opening it creates — since Yukari lacks any armour, he could have done Yukari severe harm with a single thrust of his blade.
"Hmph. Be not a milksop."
Yukari simply cannot breach Henry's defences with force or magic. That wall will remain untouched so long as Henry is defending it.
no subject
At the same instant as Yukari attempts that barrier shove and it is foiled, Curufin springs forward with the intention of seizing Yukari and physically hauling him way before he can get into any more mischief. "Yes, you are finished here. That's the wall I fixed! Mess with it, or with the Guard, and you'll be sleeping on the couch for a month." His voice is jovial, but he means business.
no subject
That is, until Curufin yanks him back. He's actually surprised by the sudden grip and pull and stumbles slightly from it. For a moment, he's too stunned to react as he does the mental math, before he finally huffs.
"It's my house, with three bedrooms. I can't imagine you would succeed very well at forcing me to sleep on my own sofa." Although it's a fair chance Curufin's joking, Yukari is just short of a full-on pout. He glances back at Henry before he sheathes his sword and folds his arms.
"Very well, consider yourself spared for today, Captain Chivalry-chan."
no subject
"You can tell yourself that, and yet it will not become truth," he says dismissively, before giving Yukari a look of even greater disgust. "And perhaps you ought to tell your lover all of what occurred here before I get the chance. You are repugnant."
To think that someone apparently in a relationship would pull such a stunt. He pities Curufin. Speaking of...
He gives Curufin a nod, his expression clearing.
"My thanks for your assistance, Curufin."
He won't move from place until the pair are gone from sight.
no subject
He doesn't respond directly to his lover's retort about the three-bedroom situation, since he was jesting and isn't going to dissect the analogy and ruin the joke for the sake of exactitude. But he can't resist one rich snerk, his shoulders shaking gently with laughter.
He still has hold of Yukari. And now he lets go of his shoulder and lays a hand on the mercenary's waist and steers him back down the slope towards the river and the bridge, the route to the center of the city where Yukari lives.
As they make their way down the path, Henry can quite likely hear snatches of snarky conversation as they vie with one another for verbal one-upmanship. There is a last snicker from Curufn as they vanish into the darkness and possibly a snort from Yukari.
