What: The event log for Love's resurrection event!
Where: All around the city
When: March 25th-March 28th
Warnings: Self-love (not that kind), outpourings of affection for friends and loved ones (maybe that kind), general good feelings
On the morning of the 25th, everything in Hadriel gets just a little nicer. Or maybe that's your outlook - after all, loving yourself makes it a lot easier to love everything else. That's right, Love is here, and it's time to get your self-acceptance on. From the moment of Love's revival, all the inhabitants of the city will feel a sense of acceptance, appreciation, and love for themselves and for the people around them. They'll be more inclined to give themselves a break, more inspired to show their affection for their loved ones, and more likely to forgive enemies - or at least ignore them, rather than start fights. Overall, the air in the city is full of love! It's up to you whether this affects your character strongly or not at all, but it won't force them to do anything extremely out of character - it will only gently push them toward expressions of love, both platonic and romantic.
Along with this warm, pleasant feeling of love comes the hot springs you all voted for. It appears near the lake, not far from Love's temple, walled-in but with no roof except for the (separate) changing areas. Within you can find a few different pools of differing temperatures, all the better to soak all your worries away!
In addition, all throughout the city you'll find new items in the shops for a short time. Anything that might help express your love for yourself and for others - fluffy blankets, stuffed animals, snuggies, exotic-smelling candles, and some nice bubble bath and skin care products will be left on display - everything in a nice shade of light pink, of course. The buildings will be draped in pink streamers, and you'll also be able to find a variety of delicious sweets - stuff yourself or feed them to your significant other, or maybe leave them on the doorstep of the person who you wish was your significant other.
Enjoy all this love filling the cave, and give yourself a break! You're gonna need it.► This log covers March 25th-March 28th.

And then he realizes that now is the perfect time. It might not be at all the moment he'd pictured, where they would be settled up nice and close and he'd be uttering heartfelt devotions to stir the clergyman's heart right before the big reveal... but for all of their talk of smiles, and reclaiming happiness and spirit, and making memories, well. Hopefully this gift will be a cornerstone in all of that.
So the ice alien sets down his phone, holding up a hand. "Alright, okay, close your eyes and just... think of us for a few moments. The good moments we've shared, the times that have made you happiest. And--don't open them until I say so. Can you do that for me?" Hopefully dwelling on the good times they've had in this cave will begin to put a smile on Carlisle's face--but what he's really aiming for is a proper distraction while he ducks into his room and fetches two particular plants.

And so he closes his eyes taking a deep breath. "I'm afraid I won't be likely to replicate the smile from the portrait," he continues, trying to explain himself for no other reason than To serve as a distraction from that quiet feeling of ineptitude, "but I will try to keep my nerves from ruining my look. I'm a little unfamiliar with all this technology in general. In Bear Den, we don't have devices that can immediately capture a portrait like these."
He pauses, scratching at the back of his head. "You don't think I should change sweaters, do you? Or make myself more presentable, somehow?"
no subject
So he hauls them out and sets them down in front of Carlisle just as he postis that last question. Glacius flicks a glance over to his partner, shaking his head and smiling. "No, no. You look perfect, and I want to remember this moment as it is. Now--you're not doing what I asked. Think about us, and let me know when you've scrounged up some good memories."
no subject
"I... suppose there was that night under the conjured stars, when we first revealed our feelings for one another," he says. "Or the afternoon with the fireflies, though such insects were more of a bane than a boon, in the end. Picking but a handful of moments from the many where you've brought me happiness is difficult."
no subject
Glacius smiles fondly, moving to stand next to Carlisle as he places a hand on his shoulder. "Now it is my turn to return such a gesture--to care for your good heart and do what I can to gift you something that will bring you further happiness. You may open your eyes whenever you are ready."

Half a word escapes him immediately as he freezes, only to be silenced as he tries to utter something completely different less than half a second later, thoughts starting and stopping in his mind quicker than he can ; denial finally brings life back into him as he extends a hand toward one of the potted blossoms, his touch tentative as they reach for the dark, delicate petals. He trails his fingers along the edges of the leaves, feeling the subtle spark of magic reaching out to his own. Carlisle's voice is barely a whisper as he utters a name, one rasped through a knot in his throat.
"Oriachne's Tear."
Hesitation clings to his voice; he draws his hand back to cover his mouth, as though the words and feelings trying to escape him would be too raw to be understood. He attempts a question: "A- are these both...?"
He doesn't finish as he chokes back, pushing his fingers beneath his glasses to rub at his eyes; they are locked on the plants before him. "How- how did you get these? Where did they- where did they come from?"
no subject
"They are both viable, yes, though I... don't know all that much about the life cycle of the plant, so I do not how long it will be until it bears seeds. And on that note... that was... what first put the idea of procuring the Tear in my mind for you. You mentioned that the seeds are often mistaken for jewelry, and then that very day, another human mentioned that your people often exchange jewelry as tokens of affection and appreciation... it was too much of a coincidence to be ignored. And I thought--bringing my partner something from his world, something that he has connections to and that has beauty and utility both... might be a better gift than something simply to be worn."
Glacius pauses, letting his hand drift from Carlisle's shoulder to his back, which he rubs affectionately. "And so I sought about procuring them. I know you have your hesitance in dealing with the gods, so I thought... I thought I would do it for you this time. I hope that such dealings do not sully your enjoyment of this gift... I promise, I only did this because I wanted to make you happy. I... I hope you like it, my partner. I thought it might be especially uplifting, given your recent losses... these can be the crown jewels of the new garden that we build together."
no subject
"I- I am unworthy of- of such things, Glacius," he finally stammers out, his voice wavering with every word. "Of such generosity. That you would- would take to hear the things I've said, remember the- the details and go through- through the tr- trouble of this, all for me."
With his words (and tongue) starting to fail him, he pulls in a breath, looking back to his partner. Despite the collapse of emotion and the tears pouring from him, Carlisle cannot help the smile he wears.
"Th- this means so much to me, Glacius. You mean so much to me, and- and I will never forget this, nor what you have done- what you have always d- done."
His smile fades as he takes something else into consideration: "I- I haven't anything for you. I haven't- I haven't anything at all that can even compare to this."
no subject
So the ice alien smiles back, the expression lifting his features and lighting them with fond warmth. "You have shown me endless kindness, compassion, and understanding throughout our time together. So there is no need to talk of unworthiness, or of not comparing, when you have already given me everything I could ask for. This is just a small token in return for all of that, and I... I am so happy it pleases you so deeply."
no subject
"It does," Carlisle says, turning back to the plants. "And two of them! I... I truly do not know what to say. This- this would be an incredible gift in my own world, but that- that you remembered my mentioning this plant and what it means to me is so... thoughtful."
As Glacius always is in regards to everyone, but especially to him. As much as Carlisle wants to inspect the blossoms further, he returns his attention to his friend, his partner -- his lover -- and reaches up to his face, trying to bring the alien close enough that he can give Glacius some kind of gesture in return. It is merely the not-quite-a-kiss they have shared before, but he's more impassioned than usual as he goes to nuzzle against Glacius, his face still hot and damp from his tearful gratitude.
no subject
"I thought that might be best, given what you said about them being so rare, and usually bearing only one seed at a time," the ice alien replies between bouts of purring. Truthfully he hadn't been expecting to receive two of them either--but he's not going to mention that to Carlisle because he is all but sure that it is an attempt on Sorrow's part to make him owe a favor, and he doesn't want his partner's happiness to be ruined by fretting over whatever it is the gods might be planning for him. No matter what happens to him as a result of this exchange, it will be worth it to have just had even a few moments of his lover's raw, unadultered happiness.
"This way we can use one as back up," Glacius continues, still exchanging nuzzles wherever he can, "Plant one and save its seed, using it to grow future plants and ensure that you always have one in your possession, while you use the other for whatever purpose you might desire. And--who knows! You're remarkable enough a gardener and so diligent in your care that one of them might best the odds and bear two seeds. Then you could further your collection."
no subject
He presses his face tightly against Glacius' once more before pulling away from the alien -- his cheek does indeed stick just a bit, and he feels the frost as he drags his palm across his face and over his eyes. "I know you will not hear of it, but I will find a way to properly express my gratitude."
no subject
"And on that note--this smile that you are wearing is much more in line with what I had been hoping to see. May I capture this moment, Carlisle? Seeing you so uplifted... it is what my hearts have longed for quite some time."
no subject
"Of course, Glacius! At this moment, I don't believe I could deny you anything your heart would desire, so long as I could provide it."
With that, he releases his partner and returns to the plants, picking up one of them and holding it in his arms as he smiles for his impromptu portrait.
no subject
So Glacius holds up his phone, snaps a quick picture, and sets it down. About the only thing saving Carlisle from getting full-on pounced on and pinned to the couch is the potted plant in his arms; instead, the ice alien sets his phone down and looks Carlisle over, that glowing smile on his features having not diminished one bit. "For the record, you provide me everything that I need. Now--is it my turn?"
no subject
"The look you have right now will be fine," he says, that grin still plastered across his face as he presses the button to take the shot, his eyes still red, heart aflame in his chest.
no subject
With such sentimental thoughts running through his head, plus the utterly pleased expression that his partner is wearing, it's not hard for the ice alien to maintain that radiant smile long enough to get his picture taken. When that's done, however, the constant feedback of positive emotions between the two of them seems to become too much for Glacius. He takes a step towards Carlisle, then one or two more, until he's standing right before the clergyman, passion smoldering in the depths of his glowing green gaze.
no subject
Carlisle's own grin is tugged with a thin line of uncertainty. "Oh, ah." A quiet laugh escapes him, a remnant from his utter joy still lingering within him. "I suppose these plants can wait, as it seems there's more to this evening, isn't there?"
no subject
"No, it's--it's fine. I just got, ah, carried away I suppose, but we should do what we need to do to take care of them. Just tell me what it is you'd like, and I will follow your lead, Carlisle."
no subject
"I, ah. We could have that dessert you promised," he suggests, an uncharacteristic coyness in his words and a slight grin pulling at him once more as he steps forward to close the gap between them, his hands reaching for Glacius' mandibles (well, singular mandible and the scar on the other side) so he can bring the alien's face down to meet his own. Glacius will have to forgive him for his amateur flirtation, but it's likely clear enough from the way he tries to pull them closer that he's not talking about the chocolates.
no subject
"A perfect way to cap off the evening," Glacius responds, his voice a low rumble, his gaze back to simmering. He hasn't overlooked the way his partner has switched his focus so quickly for his sake, and he is intent to pay him back for that, to spend the rest of the night expressing his utter appreciation in whatever ways he can.
