March 28th brings many changes into the city. First of all, that loving, dopey feeling? Gone. But you don't have too much time to mourn your affectionate side because, in addition to the humiliation of being voted in last, Love is also getting their personalized event overshadowed by the first major citywide disaster of Hadriel.
On the evening of the 28th, the city splits itself into two for some reason, isolating the left and right halves of the city. In the right half, if anyone tried to figure out where the other half of the city went, they'd find themselves staring down a massive rock wall- which is unfortunate, because this is the unlucky side without Hope. That means that after the split occurs, the lights flicker and die, the network takes far longer to get up, and what few stores there are will no longer be stocked with food.
The first two are solved within a couple of extra hours- dim lighting and profoundly glitchy network access will be created, particularly when attempting to contact anyone on the other side of the city. As if that isn't enough, without Hope there is no new food being stocked in the stores at first, and what is there isn't exactly being kept fresh and will run out within just a couple of days. Eventually, Love will try to substitute a replacement, but the bulk necessary to actually effectively feed everyone just isn't there, so enjoy your prolonged starvation!
That seems to be the main thing to worry about it until March 30th when the monsters begin to push and prod at Confusion's ineffective barriers and break through into the main city, where delicious meals (read: you) await them. The flow of monsters from the bestiary into the caves will seem almost unending, as we're stocked up on 18 months worth of them (and any/all offspring they may have created during that time).
Try to hunt some of them if you can, but watch out for the poisonous ones! It won't take long for hunger and thirst to start to settle in, so you might want to act fast. Additionally, since Hope is not present, there will be no revivals until the end of the event. You can deal with a minor permadeath setting, right?► This log covers March 28th-April 9th.

"Fantastic with machines. Built an entire robot and everything."

"That's quite impressive, though. Does she have the robot somewhere in Hadriel? I think I would like to see it one day."
no subject
"Mettaton? Yeah, he showed up not too long ago." Puttin' a slight emphasis on he. The guy's not an inanimate thing. Even if he is, uh...complicated. Ending up in space on top of everything else before he ends up zapped down here. And, yeah, none of it makes much sense, but when has it ever?

Which reminds her. "Apologies. I neglected to introduce myself properly before. My name is Ikaruga."
Granted, she knew who Sans was simply by him having very distinctive features and seeing him on the network, but it's not the same as that official formality.
no subject
"Probably figured that last bit out already though, huh?"
no subject
"Do you expect to find more technology that people may have dropped in the caves? Or is this just a matter of leaving no stone unturned?"
no subject
Yeah, nah. Visual gags work a lot better with actual set-up behind 'em.
"We're strapped for supplies here. Might as well see if there's anything we've missed, y'know?"
no subject
Killing the dangerous creatures, separating the edible from the inedible, and cutting up the meat so that others can benefit has been her contribution to the efforts.
"That makes sense. It is possible someone could have dropped something when fleeing from the creatures here."
no subject
'Sides, what else is he gonna do? The rate Alphys is going, he's more of a hindrance to her progress than anything else at this point; aside from establishing some basic plans and gathering parts, he ain't good for much else. She's the engineer here. His expertise is purely theoretical, if that.

Ikaruga is grateful that she didn't have an evil double. She's spent some time thinking about it, though she's said very little on the matter to anyone. She'd never classify herself as a morally centered person, or even a good person. Merely someone with standards and self-control. A double might not have that self-control, and perhaps would be actively malicious and violent rather than polite and occasionally helpful but fairly indifferent to killing.

Except, potentially, his life. And her life. Which would be kind of a let down, but it ain't like they're in any more or less danger than they would be otherwise. At least this way they're doin' something useful while placing themselves in harm's way.
And a big part of him can't believe that's a thought he just had. Cripes.

In a situation like this one, there's no way to be completely safe. Even barricading oneself inside of a secured home means risking starvation. She'll barricade herself inside when it's time to sleep just so that her body can get the rest it needs. The greatest contribution she can offer in a situation like this is cutting down all of the creatures trying to eat people and making meals of the creatures instead. It's useful enough given that she is one of the stronger fighters here, but she needs to keep herself in prime fighting condition in order to keep doing that.

Tranquility had not sounded real happy about the fact that whatever's out there is capable of wipin' his kind out - and that Fear's side is the one that has to deal with whatever the hell those might be. Frisk is on that side. Asriel is on that side. And so is
A lot of other people.

For all that she's seen him act carefree, she's also observed Sans asking the kinds of questions that require thought and analysis.
"Hope answered some of my questions...but I want to know much more than I currently do."
no subject
They can't know. Communication between the two groups has grown increasingly unstable, and it's only gonna get worse. It's only ever gonna get worse.
no subject
They kept that information back despite how vastly outnumbered they were, simply because they were much more powerful in some ways. And yet, Hope admitted to her that the gods' enemies could be taken out either by a small team of people here, or even by some of the more powerful individuals. It rankles to be underestimated. At least it seems like there's potential to move beyond that, into an alliance - albeit an uneasy one.
"Strange how Fear seemed to think his fake persona was more frightening than the truth. Enemies that even gods would flee from, who would kill all of us merely for being capable of emotions...I find that more distressing than the idea of a tyrant trying to frighten us now and then."
no subject
"Most people do," he agrees, a low drawl of commiseration as he inclines his skull faintly. "But when you invite somethin' new into the mix, kinda takes you outta the equation. Gods strike me as people who like havin' control of the situation."
Havin' anyone else involved removes their influence, and thus their necessity in any situation.
"Or," he says, slowly, "might be that our fear of what's out there ain't feeding him."
Might be that it's feeding whatever's coming instead.
no subject
"Hope indicated that their enemies are not beings who feed off of emotion as they do, and that their enemies believe them to be abominations for feeding off of emotions and inspiring them in others. The gods do not seem to require that our emotions be directed specifically toward them. Otherwise, Confusion would be less antagonistic and more odd and contradictory, I would imagine."
no subject
"Figures. Said they're named after what they feed off of. Not what they're good at."
Hence why Fear ain't much for intimidation, and why Hope ain't real good at inspiring optimism. It's what fuels them; not what becomes them.
no subject
"That makes sense. I do hope that their exercise in having us on teams might give them ideas for more acceptable ways to inspire certain emotions in us."
no subject
Ain't exactly what you call a symbiotic relationship.
"That's the general notion, yeah. 'Least everybody's workin' together now."
For however long that's gonna last.
