( log eleven | open | in our busy schedules we have no time to meet )

Who: Clinic staff + Everyone!
What: Open / Catch-all / Mingle log for the Clinic. Come by and learn more, volunteer, get healed or simply chat with the staff.
Where: The Clinic, by the Colosseum
When: All through April.
Warnings: Nothing right now, but subject to change. Please warn in your headers as needed!

The reunification of the city as The Door reopens means that the Clinic has to scramble to get things in order, pushing monster corpses out of the way and cleaning up the mess left in the building. Which is why the signs, painted and hung, offering a drop in tour of the place (get to know the staff, hear more about first aid lessons) don't appear until The Door's been open for a couple of days.

But, hey. They're put out eventually. And the Clinic itself is hard to miss with its brightly painted front and variety of languages boasting the word medic, or its closest alternative.

Why not take a look? There's certainly gonna be someone on hand to talk to you, and maybe even give an impromptu demonstration of what you can expect in a first aid lesson.

Interested in knowing how to survive this place? Well, knowing how to patch yourself and others up is essential to such an endeavour. Thankfully, the Clinic is running another round of first aid lessons for all interested parties. Maybe you could come along, refresh your knowledge of the basics, or even volunteer to help out. Catch a staff member for a little one-on-one tutoring if you like.

Of course, there's always downtime, even for the busiest of bodies, and this month is offering plenty of it. Staff members, why not take time to relax and get chatting to one another? There's a makeshift deck of cards in the office for games and a fridge that will desperately need restocking with lunches and food now that the city's back in order.

Naturally, we can't forget the obvious. If you're injured, somehow, come seek help here. Staff are happy to help.

( Go nuts, post top levels, make them locked or open or whatever. )

[So, she's missing a pound of flesh. Give or take. The Commander didn't weigh it or anything, which Miriam is very thankful for. She's gown suddenly attached to her remaining fingers - all five skinny digits of them - and the prospect of losing any more has become dangerously real in the past few days.

Thus, she's back at the clinic. Again.

Her stump itches. Miriam isn't sure if it's supposed to itch. She never really thought about these kinda things before.

But, here they are. And Hadriel's always been on the wrong side of crazy, anyway.

She's got an eye out for either new people or potential gossip, though. And probably don't say anything about the giant dog sitting on her feet. He's not going anywhere.]

[OTA | 16thish]

[So. He's still here.

He'd been hoping that he would've woken up by now, or at the very least figured out what he's supposed to be doing. That's how it'd worked for Booth, after all, but it goes without saying that he isn't Booth.

This sucks.

But fine; no purpose has come to him just yet, so maybe that just means he's supposed to find one. A good place to do that is in trying to help people, and that's why he can be found at the clinic; he's there both to help out and to get a better sense of more of the people in this place.

Being generally unintimidating--even less so than usual at the moment looking like he got into a fight with a truck and having found casual clothes instead of his suit--he's decided to hang out near the waiting room to greet anyone who may be coming in for help. So that's where he can be found, flipping through the network on his phone.

He also may or may not also be twirling in the spinning chair he's commandeered. Okay, so it's not full on twirling--yet--but it's definitely fidgeting-level spinning back and forth in little half rotations, each spin making a little more of an arc than the last, and it's only a matter of time before something goes wrong and he catches his leg on the desk and has to ungracefully and somewhat comically scramble not to fall over.

+1 to unintimdating, but -1 to professional. Alas, that's usually how it goes for him.]

[Closed to Emily | Morning of the 16th]

[Sure, no greater purpose or calling is making itself just yet, but some things about the situation are suddenly looking up when he catches sight of a young woman arriving with what looks like a portable coffee-making stand. Coffee. He could really use coffee. It's been days since he had coffee.

But first thing's first--]

Hello.

[Normally he'd ask how much or just simply place an order, but he's still figuring out how this place works and he's suddenly realized he has no idea if there's some sort of payment needed here. If there is, who knows what it might be.]

[ota]

[Adam spends a good deal of time at the clinic, and that's no different this month. Once the city is reunited, he shows up regularly once more - helping clean and reorganize things after the chaos of the city split.

Though no doctor or healer, he's likely the closest thing to a regular nurse the clinic has, offering basic first aid services for any injured and basic lessons for anyone wanting to learn. Anything too difficult, though, will be passed on to someone with more skills, though Adam may help them out as well, offering an extra hand as needed.

He is quiet, though less in an introverted way and more in an observant one. When someone enters, he looks up from his careful rolling of bandages, assessing the newcomer's condition and determining whether they're looking for medical help or just curious and bored. There's plenty of both in Hadriel, after all.]

Hey. Can I help you?

[closed to [personal profile] pellameno]

[He's seen Pell around at the clinic quite a bit, and they've talked a few times, but Adam still can't say that he knows the man well. Man? Maybe. It doesn't really matter. The important thing is that Pellaz has some kind of magic, and knows how to use it, and Adam - well, doesn't.

His magic is powerful in its own way, he knows. Adam has done things with it at home that shouldn't be possible, but that kind of thing seems normal in a place like this. What he wants now is to make it practical, because he is a practical-minded person. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to turn it to healing somehow - he's used to relieve pain before, at least. Isn't that a start? He just has no idea where to go from here.

So the next time they're in the clinic together, Adam approaches him.]

[Having been here as long as she has, Emily isn't surprised to see a new face. What she is a bit surprised by is the fact that all he says is 'hello'. Usually when people see the coffee cart, exclamations of relief or gratitude are the norm.

But then again, this is Hadriel, where weird is the norm.

So she gives him a small if rather sassy smile as she looks over ar him.]

How do you take your coffee?

[Now there's a face Emily's seen once in a while. How has she never really interacted with him? It is a mystery, but it doesn't really merit solving. The city just got reunited, and everyone is safe from those god-killing beings that are chasing them through goddamn outer space or whatever. Right now, all she wants is to go back to what little normal there is here.]

Yeah. You can tell me how you take your coffee if you want some, and you can feel happy about it.

[Said, of course, with a smile.]

[The expected reaction is just slightly delayed in this case; when she asks how he wants his coffee he gives a sigh of relief and a grin.]

Oh man, I am so not picky.

[At least not when he's gone this long without caffeine. Although he should ask, to be clear--]

I just got here a few days ago, so I'm not exactly sure yet how the whole economic system works out; do I owe you anything, or...?

[With that perfect guidance, Emily decides to just serve him up a plain old cup and set the cream and sugar by it on the cart surface.]

You have 'newcomer' written all over you. [He looks like he's not used to this place. It's a subtle difference that Emily has come to be able to see in people.] All you have to do is feel happy that you have coffee. That'll keep it flowing for us.

[And it'll keep Delight powered up. She really needs that, after what happened to the bar.]

I'm Emily.

[personal profile] lifetothefullest 2017-04-14 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I've heard that.

[The whole being obviously a newcomer thing. But he's totally not bothered by the comment, his own just conversational, and oh they have sugar and cream too? Amazing. Best coma dream ever.

And okay, obviously he's already doing 'feeling happy' thing, even though the entire idea's still slightly ridiculous.]

Can do. I am... Definitely happy to have coffee.

[Even if getting the sugar open is proving to be a small challenge with one hand broken, it's really putting very little of a damper on his mood. When she introduces herself he glances up from his fight with the sugar and smile, offering an equally informal response.]

Lance. Nice to meet you, Emily.

[She seems to be pretty settled into this place, so--]

Have you been here awhile?

[Coma dream? Oh buddy... you poor fuck.

A poor fuck who's struggling with the sugar paccket. Fine, her bad, she could've done the whole job. After he introduces himself, she holds out her hand with a look that says gimme that, you dip, and when he does, she opens it and sweetens his coffee.]

Yeah. A year, actually. [She answers casually, more concerned with his coffee than seeming properly bothered by the fact that she's been in shithole cavetown for so long.] More sugar? How much cream?

[Her priorities are fine, okay. She's given up on getting out of here any time soon, especially now that they've found out there are things chasing them.]

[Let him have his coma-dream, people.

And hey, it's not like he gave her any specifics, so it's really not her responsibility... Though he doesn't protest her help, handing over the packets with a small, sheepish grin and a thanks. But he's immediately distracted from coffee preferences by her answer to his question.]

Excuse me, you said a year?

[Wow. That's... A long time. Maketh said she'd been here about that long too, and in fact had mentioned an Emily; he's wondering now if this is the same one.]

[In worse times -- maybe right after being revived, or if she were still exhausted from all that glyphcrafting -- she would outright snap at him for that dumbass question. As it is, she's amused. Still annoyed, sure, but more amused than not.]

Yeah. A year. Twelve months. About fifty-two weeks. Three hundred sixty-five point twenty-five days or so.

[That's not nerdiness, that is common fucking knowledge.]

Your coffee? [How do you take it, dip. Christ, newbies are exhausting.]

[That response is both clever and sassy enough that he grins a bit more; it really had been a dumb question, after all.]

Okay, fair, I deserved that. Very precise, by the way.

[The .25 is not really necessary, though he does know at least one person who would argue that assessment.]

That's good on the sugar, and one cream's great, thanks.

[He regrets nothing about how he broke his hand aside from that he had to do it, but it's definitely already becoming annoying and he's feeling a little guilty about having Emily open the packets. At least it should heal pretty fast.

Her making the coffee gives him time to ask a question, too.]

I met someone else who said they'd been here a year, named Maketh Tua. She mentioned an Emily; do you know her?

[It's too early (both in the day and whatever sort of relationship they may or may not form here) to tell him the rules (the rules, the ones that come with exceptions, not that she'll ever tell anyone that), so she lets that one go and just keeps on making the coffee. She's not bothered by it. If anything, it might help Delight out some more. (Asking about his hand will not, so she doesn't. Also, she doesn't want to hear about pain right now. The split city was a long enough nightmare without adding something else to it.)

She sets the cup back down when she's finished, and when he mentions Maketh, she's all ears, the easy little smirk fading a little.]

Yeah, she and I got here on the same day. [And what a day that had been. Emily with her shoulder wound, scared for her friends' lives, the jabberjay taunting her with Matt's voice, Maketh protecting her from a ghost thing even though she looked like she'd been through hell before arriving here.

What a year for the two of them, honestly.]

What'd she say about me?

[Never mind that there's another Emily around. Maketh clearly means Emily Davis.]

[Sweet, wonderful coffee. The moment she sets it down he picks it up, taking a sip, and wow; he missed coffee, and this isn't diner or FBI break room stuff either.

Also, drinking coffee gives him something to focus on and make it easier to keep his expression neutral as Emily responds. So it is indeed the same Emily, and depending on how well she knows Maketh she might provide some insight into what Maketh's actually like.]

She said you were the person to ask about clothing, and that you were 'quite talented' in the area.

[He'd found a store shortly afterward that had enough spare clothing in his size so as not to have to followup on that lead, but he'd definitely kept it in mind.]

[See, Lance is trying to be all psychological about this, but you know what Emily calls that? Gossiping. (She knows what's up. She was best friends with Jess, for fuck's sake.) But hearing that her soldier mom spoke highly of her is a good distraction.]

Yeah? [Emily shrugs. Humblebragging is go.] Fashion is my thing, yeah. I only started sewing after I got here, though. Why, do you need anything made or altered?

[He's seen Emily around - they've both been in the city long enough that that was inevitable. But Adam's not terribly good at being social, and she has her own set of friends, so it's no real surprise that they haven't really spoken. He smiles at her, though, careful and cautious.]

Well, if you've got cream and sugar I'll take that. Not sure I can promise the rest - but I'll give it a good try.

[But 'gossip' has so many negative connotations, even if, fine, that's exactly what he's doing a lot of the time. At least she doesn't call him out on it.

And yeah, that humblebrag is not subtle.]

No, nothing right now, but I might later.

[Suits always have to be modified, after all. But right now he's not actually interested in tailoring; the gossip thing is still his main focus.]

I was actually wondering... If you know Maketh, do you know anything about the organization she works with? The Guard?

You've got it.

[The forced cheer sounds natural, if only because she really amused by this whole thing. Some days, doing what is essentially food service work gets old fast, but today, especially after the disaster with the city split in two, she's just glad to be back at the routine. The coffee cart gives her a chance to talk to a lot of people, and yet there are still some she's said no more than a passing greeting to.

She serves Adam a cup and puts some sugar packets and cream out for him, then places a hand on her hip.]

If you want anything fancier than that, talk to Chris. He takes an evening shift at Delight's temple.

O, hi.

Manon, on the other hand, lingered cautiously in the doorway. What was this place? She glanced around the area, her golden eyes barely lingering on object after object as she made her way inside. Judging by the state of everyone it seemed to be some Healers quarters.

But none like she'd ever seen.

Manon passed by the girl on her way to look at some of the supplies that were strewn about. She barely regarded the injuries that she seemed to have; such wounds were commonplace where she came from.

...Strange..

Her grandmother would be so disappointed in her for that non-humility tbh.]
We're easy to find, if you ever need anything.

[The Guard?] Why, are you interested in helping them out?

[Is that supposed to be impressive? She's not impressed. He probably works at a desk all day. A data analyst job. Nerds are good at that.

She shrugs.]
Some people like having them around, some people hate them, most people couldn't care one way or the other. It's not like anyone can do anything about it.

[Never mind the thing with the clones and how the Guard building got wrecked. She's fuzzy on the details. That was a shitty time for a lot of reasons.]

They're always there to help fight off monsters and get people supplies when the gods are doing their thing, though, so probably there are more people that like them than not.

"You're new."

Miriam said it quietly, watching the woman from the cot. She kept Barnaby between them just in case. Barnaby could eat most of the monsters around Hadriel and at least slow down a good chunk of the people, even the ones with freaky powers.

That's not at all the point right now, though, and instead he focuses on her answer. It's a balanced one and he appreciates her outlook, although he gets the impression that underneath it all she's one of the supporters; hopefully the Guard really is as well-meaning as it seems to be.]

That's good to know, thank you.

[He'll have to keep asking around, but at least he got a good answer from someone and so he steers the topic to a lighter subject again.]

So, where'd you get the whole coffee setup?
