Deep In The Heart Of It All
Who: Curufin and Yukari (closed)
What: The ball~
Where: Yukari's house, then the Colosseum
When: 4/23
Warnings: TBA?
It had been quiet this month, not that Yukari had minded. After being separated from Curufin for those ten days, he took alot of time to spend with his lover and sort through the feelings he had all that time. To be willing to admit them, no matter who might see or hear. Being separated from the Elf and fretting over never being willing to say in the public eye how much he cared terrified him. He decided to go out of his way to be open about it more often.
And when he found out there was a ball, Yukari immediately grasped at the opportunity. He asked Curufin to attend it with him, so very eager to attend something amazing with his partner.
And, that evening, Yukari is putting the final touches on his appearance. He makes sure that not a wrinkle taints his image, not a strand of hair out of place. He has to admit, he rather appreciates the look of pearls on himself. Maybe he'll wear them more often?
When he hears the knock on his door, he gives himself another look in the mirror to make sure nothing's out of place and goes to the door. He takes a breath, puts on a smile, and then opens it.
"Hello, Curufin." He looks at Curufin's attire for the evening, and feels his breath escape him. For a moment he can't say anything as he just takes it in. Finally, "Oh, you look wonderful!"

"And you look delicious!" Curufin replies.

"Do you always speak like that back where you're from? It's a wonder you haven't had your mouth washed out with soap." Despite his mild condescending tone, he's actually smirking a bit. "Hmm... come to think of it, I could wash your mouth out with soap, couldn't I?"
He looks at Ayamachi briefly, considering if he should take his sword with him. But this is a ball, and nothing untoward has happened over the course of the month. Surely, he doesn't need to worry about combat this evening, right? He turns back to Curufin.
"Are we ready to go, then? Anything we need?"
He steps out the door, giving a glance over the living room to make sure he hasn't forgotten anything else before closing it behind him.

"Pretty much!" he admits, with a smile. "Don't forget, I'm the barbarian from East Beleriand." Not only are his adjectives deplorable, but he makes shameless use of slant-rhyme. You can't get much more barbaric than that! And his eyes are filled with affectionate laughter at Yukari's terrible threat to wash his mouth out with soap. For Yukari's sake, he refrains from inventing any more off-color jokes.
"Yes, we're ready. I'm taking my sword, though. I never go anywhere in Hadriel without it. But I assume they'll make us check our weapons at the door, so if you don't want to entrust anybody else with Ayamachi, then maybe leave it here?"
And he cheerfully follows Yukari out of the door.
It isn't far to the Colosseum, just across a field, a path, a road, and another field. The vast rotunda is lit up, and people are arriving from three directions. There is a happy buzz of conversation, and strains of music pour out of the building. The two revelers find an entrance.

The thought of entrusting anyone else with Ayamachi was enough to warrant a swift, "No, thank you," from him. He'll leave it here. If he needs to defend himself for any reason, he'll just use his Auras. With Ayamachi being a gift, he'd rather it not be carelessly handled, or worse. Thankfully, his other skills will more than make up for it, in the very off circumstance of anything happening.
Yukari links his arm into Curufin's, giving him a sly smile as they enter. Tonight, I show the world that you are mine and I am yours. Let the world watch; they can burn with jealousy as far as Yukari's concerned. And as they walk acrost the floor, Yukari isn't even bothering to look at the crowd and whatever they may be doing. His focus is fixated on only one person, and that's the handsome gentleman he's linked arms with tonight. It's almost like a dream, better than any fairytale.
Yukari steers Curufin gently toward the tables. When he unlinks their arms from each other, he reaches over and picks up two glasses of champagne, holding one out to Curufin, with a smile in his eyes as he looks up to meet his lover's gaze.
"Here's to the wonders of beauty," he raises his glass up. "To being with someone as wonderful as you."

He links arms and answers that sly smile with a pleasant one of his own. He is proud of his lover and happy to be seen with him.
When they arrive, he takes the offered glass of champagne and raises it. "To beauty!" he agrees. "And to being with someone as delightful as you." He sips, and his eyes continue to express his appreciation.
When they have drunk their toast, he sets his glass down, and holds out his hand. "May I have the honor of this dance?"
no subject
Yukari, in turn upon being offered a dance, sets his glass down as well before taking Curufin's extended hand.
"But of course~"
Yukari gracefully steps into the dance, allowing Curufin to lead and following his movements with ease and precision. And perhaps even showing off a little that he does, indeed, know how to dance and well. Of course, Curufin may have expected no less. But Yukari can't help but smile as he looks in Curufin's eyes as they swing gracefully to the music.
"Well, now, I didn't expect you to know how to dance. When did you find the time to learn between your brothers and the wars?"
no subject
He chuckles. "I'm an Elf; of course I can dance! I learned how, in my first home, the city of Tirion in Aman, before we came to Middle-earth. But after we sailed to Middle-earth and then emigrated far inland to East Beleriand, there was a space of nearly four hundred years between the Third and Fourth Wars of Beleriand. I wouldn't say it was exactly a peaceful Peace, but we had time to dance. When we weren't building castles or riding the plain to hunt for Orcs, that is. We had a lot of parties, let us just say."
"But what about you, Yukari? You are an amazing dancer. When did you learn?"
