Event Log: A Blustery Day

Good morning and welcome to your Hadriel Weather Forecast! On the doppler today is a high chance of rainfall, coupled with dark, angry clouds, and even some hail an rumbling of wayward thunder! If you're wondering "we're in a cave, how can we have weather in a cave", then congratulations, you're doing exactly what Confusion wants you to do! Which is- you know, be confused.

For the next few days, the weather will be aggressively stormy, with severity ranging from 'mild annoyance' to full-on 'batten down the hatches and hold on'. While no tornadoes will touch down, you might want to prepare yourselves for a few dashes of lightning, winds that could knock you over, and golfball-sized hail ready to cause a couple of bruises and broken windows!

Speaking of which, are any of these houses weatherproofed? You... uh, might want to look into that, if you've got the time. Surely a few friends could help you out- just make sure you stay warm and dry! The shops aren't stocked with any new coats or anything, so you'll have to make do with what you've got. Maybe some of you still have your ugly christmas sweaters!

"I've heard of monsoons," he offers conversationally, moving a little closer to her since it's evident that they're having a conversation now. Rome is careful to keep his hands to himself- he doesn't brush up against anything and takes up very little space in the speakeasy, clearly not quite familiar with the concept of 'putting yourself out there'.

"Food is plentiful when it rains. I don't know if I'd call that 'shitty'-"

There's a pause, before he realizes that what he says might be impolite, and so he quickly amends:

"-ma'am."

[circumitus]

His body language and mannerisms give a few easy tells, even for someone like Rey who doesn't make a habit of reading people. She does, regardless, whether conscious of it or not. She blinks at his polite addendum, as such titles are still rather weird to her ears.

"And if it rains too much, things also drown. Things can't grow if they're buried in water."

Wow, Rey. Way to be a debby downer.

To be fair, though, that's the sort of 'too much' they're dealing with right now.

[leashed]

"...yes, of course."

He corrects as if it's an apology, tilting his head a little to look out through one of the intact windows, frowning at the density of the raindrops smacking against the glass.

"Do you think that will happen here?"

[circumitus]

Rey gives a dismissive wave, regarding his apologetic disposition with little interest. It's hardly the most impolite mention she's ever heard.

"Doubt it. Even if it does, it probably wouldn't stay that way for long. We're no use if we get starved out."

Or, at least, the ones that do starve here.

[leashed]

"True."

He pauses for a moment, considering.

"When the city was in two, I hunted for meat- the monsters in the caves. It's something we could resort to- though it would be beneficial to build up a storage in case of future emergency."

[circumitus]

"Oh, have done that before. The hard part is that not everything in the caves are edible." And some she probably wouldn't recommend for consumption. "Have heard that those giant tentacled plant things make a somewhat passable stew, though."

She just tries to avoid eating any of the meat within the city itself if she can help it.

[leashed]

"I see."

He hasn't eaten any of those- but it's good to get a list going.

"Perhaps we could trade notes on the subject. I'm sure that it would be useful information at some point."

[circumitus]

"Don't really keep notes on the..."

Oh.

She stops herself from uttering another word, blinking. "You probably didn't mean literally, did you?"

Unless you're Carlisle, who literally takes notes on everything.

[leashed]

"I... did."

Awkward.

"I've compiled some of them in the reports I write to commander Maketh."
