Who: Armitage Hux and Maglor
What: Feanorians are terrible parent figures
Where: around the city
When: August 4th
Warnings: murder, torture, etc
It hadn't been difficult to figure out who had been following him for the last few days. He remembered Maglor from the last instance of when the gods had manipulated them. It was something he preferred not to think about but apparently, the Elf seemed to have other ideas. He couldn't think of anything that Maglor would want from him, especially since he seemed to keep his distance to just follow Hux around as he did errands.
He waited until there was no one else around before suddenly turning around to approach the Elf, his fists clenched at his sides. He wasn't sure what Maglor wanted, he wasn't going to let him hold anything over his head.
"I'm not sure what you think you hope to accomplish here," he said in a short tone as he looked Maglor over. "Why have you been following me?

(His boy, his clever boy, kind and vicious and so willing to try to please him, who scolded him away from his harp when he got too stuck, who worked late to make sure all his things were done to good standard)
"I... " He shakes his head and looks away.
"Forgive me. I should not... I do not mean to trouble you. I just... "
(His boy, but not his, even less his than the twins had been, a simple dream that could not last)
"I wanted to see you." He says lamely.
no subject
Even now, Maglor seemed to actually be concerned for him and he wasn't sure what to do with that.
no subject
Maglor shrugs weakly.
"But I... wanted to make sure... "
Armitage had been happy. This stranger... seems not.
"I wanted to make sure you were happy."
no subject
He couldn't even begin to understand and his expression showed it clearly. He didn't even know how to address Maglor's concern, he wasn't good at emotions.
no subject
"I ... saw you again, and did not know you, but I do, all the same. And I worry. I know there is no obligation, that we are strangers. But in a dream, you called me father, and I... I wish for your happiness."
no subject
"Most would simply brush it off as the gods manipulating us once more," he said thoughtfully, trying to understand. He knew he was fairly intelligent normally, he didn't like that he couldn't figure this out. "I'm not going to call you father now."
no subject
"That much is true. But it is not easy for my heart to yield a bond, even one created falsely."
He shakes his head, immediately.
"No! I would never dare to presume such intimacies, nor are you a child who needs a parent. But I cannot help my worry."
no subject
Because that had to be it. There was always a catch. "You have no reason to worry."
no subject
"You were... happy, in that dream. It worries me that you have not that happiness here."
no subject
He was quiet for a long moment, staring at Maglor. "I'm not unhappy." He wasn't sure how else to answer that, happiness was something he often simply didn't think about often.

"I destroyed five planets and hundreds of billions of beings in a single moment," he stated simply.
no subject
He is PRETTY SURE he still knows Armitage's favourite coffee, because some things don't change.
He raises an eyebrow. "And here I thought no one here would be able to outdo my brother and I's kill count. Why?"
no subject
This was getting far too confusing for him, especially when Maglor didn't even seem to so much as blink at his admission. "I'm confident I can outdo your count," he said with a small smirk. "To take down a corrupt, illegitimate regime."
There was not even a flicker of remorse, only pride.
no subject
"No. Armitage did the same, on a much less devastating level, after all. If you thought they were corrupt, I am not surprised."
no subject
"I did stage a coup for the first time when I was five years old," he said with amusement. He could appreciate the gods' sense of humor.
no subject
no subject
"I was ruthless as a child as well, that much is true."

Maglor keeps his hands down rather than reach for him.
"But I... would like to get to know you again. I would like to see you safe and happy."
no subject
"I suppose that would be alright."
no subject
"Well, we can learn together, eh? How much of Armitage is you, and how much was the dream? I don't know that, either. So we are both of us learning."
no subject
"I grew up in the Imperial military. It's more than just a profession, it's my entire life."
no subject
Maglor invites, nodding to a nearby bench.
"I've known war, but we were not a military the way you know it, I think."
no subject
"Our war is for the sake of the galaxy, to bring peace and stability." He had sacrificed everything for it but he had no regrets even now. "What do you want to know?"
no subject
Maglor looks at him quietly.
"Anything you are willing to tell me. But maybe start with the worst of it, I find that seems to make the good things brighter."
no subject
He was quiet for a long moment, not sure where to start. "Well, I'm from a rainy planet called Arkanis in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. I left when I was 5 when it was attacked by the New Republic so I don't remember a great deal about it."
no subject
"You will put down one rebellion only to find another rise elsewhere."
He hums softly. "Did your parents survive?"
no subject
"I have no idea if my mother survived. My father and I were the ones taken away. My father lived for a few years afterward and died when we reached the Unknown Regions to meet up with other Imperials who had to flee the Republic." There was little emotion in his voice, aside from the hard edge when he mentioned Brendol. There was clearly no love lost.
no subject
He frowns and makes a low noise of sympathy. "I am sorry. It is hard, to loose a parent. Things were not well between you and your father, I take it?"
no subject
"He died when I was young and was not missed or mourned."
no subject
Maglor sighs softly.
"That is hard. I am sorry things went so ill for you."
no subject
He frowned, not sure what to say. He wasn't used to sympathy. "You have nothing to apologize for."
no subject
Says the hypocrite.
"Maybe not, but I am still sorry, all the same. I loved the boy you were in that dream very much, you know. Even though you are not him, it hurts to know that you had such an ill start to life."
no subject
"I don't let it interfere with what I have to do in the present." Though, there were things that would haunt him. He looked at Maglor, brows furrowed. He had longed to hear Brendol indicate that he even liked him when he was a child, that had all changed when Rax had made him admit the truth. "You loved me? You say that rather freely."
no subject
Maglor cocks his head and looks at him.
"Yes." He says simply. "I loved Armitage - it was easy, when you loved me too. I have always loved children, to have one of my own was a joy I did not want to loose. I don't know if I love you, yet. But I think Armitage is still there."
no subject
"What makes you think I'm still that person?"
no subject
"I don't know. But my family look at me and see still the innocent that was. How can I not give you the same?"
no subject
"I don't have remorse for what I did to the Hosnian planets. But if you wish to see that Armitage you knew, I won't discourage you."
no subject
no subject
"Very well. I suppose that would be alright."
no subject
"What name do you want me to use?"
no subject
"Hux. My first name is a bit informal." and he wasn't willing to go there quite yet.
"I should get back to the cats, they don't do well when they're alone and hungry."
no subject
"I will let you head off then. Thank you for allowing me this."
He doesn't dare try for a hug, the way he would have with Armitage, but he rests a hand on his arm briefly, all the same.
no subject
"Of course. I will speak to you later then."
This was awkward. He wasn't sure what to say or do so he only turned on his heel before heading back to the house quickly.
