Event log: Who What Where Wendigo

Who: Everyone participating in the wendigo event!
What: The accidental-cannibalism-turned-horrifying-monster event that is the Who What Where Wendigo event!
Where: All around the city
When: Feb 14th-March 1st
Warnings: Cannibalism, body horror, evil monsters lurking around.

Don't forget to check up on the Wendigo Guide that Ami posted!

On February 14th, Rage and Fear decide to give Hope a little bit of help taking care of the residents of Hadriel - they'll provide some food for awhile. How nice! Except, of course, that there's an extra ingredient in this food. A can of beef stew? Yeah... that might not be beef. But hey, it still tastes pretty good! Unfortunately, some spirits slipped through the Door last time it opened, and they're ready to possess anyone who participates in cannibalism - even if they don't know it.

Anyone who eats the provided meat will be possessed by a wendigo spirit. Over the course of twelve days, they will transform into a monster that feels little but rage and hunger. While at first it can be explained away easily enough (people are super annoying, and isn't everyone a little hungry most of the time?), by February 18th, wendigo transformations are impossible to ignore. A few days after, on February 22nd, the anger and cravings of the wendigo spirit will overcome all other emotions, and possessed characters may begin hunting.

The physical and mental transformation will be complete by February 26th. The possessed characters will have lost themselves completely at that point. While physical healing (done by a character with Hope's blessing or another healing ability) can turn back the physical and some mental effects, they will remain possessed until death or until Hope removes the wendigo spirit - which can only be done on the altar of Hope's temple. So have fun dragging your angry, possessed friends there!

On March 1st, Rage does Hope a solid (because she feels sort of bad) and kills all remaining wendigos. Upon revival, the spirit will be gone and the character will be fully recovered. Hopefully no one holds what they did while possessed against them!

[ The stores were never stocked well, and it was rare for them to be stocked with familiar items, so when familiar meaty canned soups started appearing, Sharon took every chance to stock up. Lucky for her, the ones she had eaten were missing that key soylent green ingredient that is supposedly causing the all trouble.

Who knew cannibalism could turn you into a monster?

Sharon, now, is in one of the larger shops, cleaning out the shelves of anything that looks like it might contain any sort of meat product. When Sam walks in, she doesn't even turn to look at him, and just continues to drop cans of hearty stews, and packs of dried meat into her knapsack. ]

I hope you're not here for the hamburger. [ because all of it is going to get dumped somewhere so no one else eats tainted food ]

( not that he's ever been particularly naïve, because a winchester doesn't live to get past a certain age by taking things for granted or by general assumption – so, suffice it to say that he's never fully trusting of a place like this, and even though he's been here long enough to kinda-sorta-maybe get his bearings and find some footholds, it still seems a bit too good to be true that the stores find themselves stocked with things he's familiar with.

so, he still has a soft spot for spaghettios. things that dean used to cook for him when john would go off on a hunt and leave his boys on their own for a handful of days or more.

it doesn't really surprise him to find someone else seemingly stocking up when he comes across sharon dumping things into her pack, but it's so very unfortunate for her that her warning is a bit too little, too late. he clears his throat when she speaks up, tilts his head to the side quizzically.
)

Can't say that I was. ( shrug? ) Not that it would've mattered, since it looks like you're about to haul it all off.

( sam. das a little rude. )

It's for the good of the people. [ Sharon glances, briefly, in his direction. A good head taller than her, with a mess of dark hair; she wonders if it's the light that makes his skin look so sallow, or if he's turning into a hungry, hungry, wendigo.

She returns her attention to a can in her hend, blue eyes scanning the ingredient list. Huh. No indication that the meatballs contain more than just an odd, gross mixture of pig, cow, and turkey. ]
Unless you're a fan of long pig?

[ In which case, she'd be happy to give you all the cans. ]

( hungry, hungry wendigo … sorry, sharon, but that's about the closest to the truth as you're going to get without an open admission on his part – and granted, he's already made the mistake of eating the provided food, but he's a little reticent to come out with the fact that … well.

there's a total soylent green situation going on here.

he clears his throat, makes a face that lingers somewhere between disgust and dismissal. he's trying to remain neutral, but so far? it's all just so strange.
)

Not really. ( have a small huff of a laugh. you can keep those cans. ) You're gonna dump them, right? Want some help?

[ The offer seems to catch the young woman off guard. She's never been quick to accept help, even when it's needed. This comes more from habit than pride, the majority of her adolescent life was spent keeping distance from others, but if Hadriel has taught her one thing, it's that she doesn't need to deal with things entirely alone anymore.

Especially with something as mundane as this. She shrugs. ]
If you want. It's nothing exciting, though.

[ Just cans, a full knapsack, and sore af shoulders. She looks to him again. ] I'm Sharon, by the way.
