On February 14th, Rage and Fear decide to give Hope a little bit of help taking care of the residents of Hadriel - they'll provide some food for awhile. How nice! Except, of course, that there's an extra ingredient in this food. A can of beef stew? Yeah... that might not be beef. But hey, it still tastes pretty good! Unfortunately, some spirits slipped through the Door last time it opened, and they're ready to possess anyone who participates in cannibalism - even if they don't know it.
Anyone who eats the provided meat will be possessed by a wendigo spirit. Over the course of twelve days, they will transform into a monster that feels little but rage and hunger. While at first it can be explained away easily enough (people are super annoying, and isn't everyone a little hungry most of the time?), by February 18th, wendigo transformations are impossible to ignore. A few days after, on February 22nd, the anger and cravings of the wendigo spirit will overcome all other emotions, and possessed characters may begin hunting.
The physical and mental transformation will be complete by February 26th. The possessed characters will have lost themselves completely at that point. While physical healing (done by a character with Hope's blessing or another healing ability) can turn back the physical and some mental effects, they will remain possessed until death or until Hope removes the wendigo spirit - which can only be done on the altar of Hope's temple. So have fun dragging your angry, possessed friends there!
On March 1st, Rage does Hope a solid (because she feels sort of bad) and kills all remaining wendigos. Upon revival, the spirit will be gone and the character will be fully recovered. Hopefully no one holds what they did while possessed against them!► This log covers February 14th-March 1st.

"Yeah." Noah says agreeibly with a laugh that's a little too strained and nervous to be entirely casual. He's also jumping at shadows.
"Do you know anyone who... you know?"

A bird's eye-view is a helpful thing to have. "You need anythin' to carry home, Noah? Food, water, extra blankets..."
Hey, you can never have too many blankets.

Amos nods. "Amen, brother. The store just around the corner here should have some." And hopefully food as well, so they can make a quick trip and run right back home. Well, maybe for once things will go nicely? Amos can always hope.
no subject
"Did you hear that?" Noah whispers, alarmed, as they approach the store. It's entirely possible that it's nothing, or just a person on another street. Noah's jumpy.
no subject
If it's a bit absent, it's because he's also talking to the bird overhead, the one that swoops down onto the roof of the store and sings out a cheerful litany of curses and abuse towards the birds. Amos snorts a little as he pulls the shop door open. Apparently his feathered friends have not endeared themselves to all of the city's residents.
no subject
"Wha-? Oh, um. Yes. Alive again, thanks to Hope. Recently. ... A day or so."
Noah eyes the birds warily until they are safely inside. There is little that does not scare Noah.

He loops his fingers around Noah's wrist to simply tow him along, too, because Amos has no concept of personal space and has always been very tactile. It's an automatic thing, to try to use touch to ease his companion.
"That's pretty neat. Izzit weird? Being, uh, embodied again?"
no subject
"... It's super weird." Noah says with a big long-suffering sigh. "Not as weird as the first time but... still really weird."

"I kinda knew it was coming? A little? This time. So... it didn't take me as much by surprise either." Noah makes a face, though he's faced away from Amos as he says it. "Now I can be hurt though."
no subject
"After you hit thirty your knees ain't what they used to be." Though thanks to his heritage, Amos doesn't usually get pinned for being in his early thirties. He's more often mistaken for a decade younger.

"Here, these're sweet. Taste kinda like molasses." Only chewy instead of crunchy, as Amos was used to molasses candy being.
no subject
He's safe, there's someone else here to keep him that way, and he's got sweets. That's all Noah really needs to elevate his mood significantly.
"It's really sweet!"
no subject
He does lie, but he prefers to tell the truth. Easier that way, and he was raised honest, despite his day job. "It's pretty tasty. Some stuff tastes decent, but honestly there's only so much I'm willing to taste-test myself. Especially with this whole...situation."
no subject
"People have different tastes, you never know." He didn't think Amos was lying, just that maybe they had different perceptions of 'sweet'. Like that one time he told Whelk a burrito was totally not all that spicy.
Well, for Czerny it hadn't been.
no subject
He's got what he came for, but does Noah?
no subject
"Got it. Do you have other errands you need to run...?"
'Are you too busy to walk me home?', actually.

It's not hard to notice, if you're prone to exploring
or snoopingbut Amos waits for Noah to confirm it himself. It's politer that way, makes it seem like Amos hasn't been nosing about and spying on his neighbor's affairs.no subject

Like, it's gotta happen someday, but statistically he's batting zero with that.

Not so much said as simply isn't alarmed or excited: merely bored and watching for something interesting to happen. Some animals like trouble more than others. Amos heads for the door, because the way might not stay clear for long, and the less time they spend out, the less likely they are to get caught.

"Thank you," He says quietly while they walk. He wouldn't want to make this alone.
