Event log: Who What Where Wendigo

Who: Everyone participating in the wendigo event!
What: The accidental-cannibalism-turned-horrifying-monster event that is the Who What Where Wendigo event!
Where: All around the city
When: Feb 14th-March 1st
Warnings: Cannibalism, body horror, evil monsters lurking around.

On February 14th, Rage and Fear decide to give Hope a little bit of help taking care of the residents of Hadriel - they'll provide some food for awhile. How nice! Except, of course, that there's an extra ingredient in this food. A can of beef stew? Yeah... that might not be beef. But hey, it still tastes pretty good! Unfortunately, some spirits slipped through the Door last time it opened, and they're ready to possess anyone who participates in cannibalism - even if they don't know it.

Anyone who eats the provided meat will be possessed by a wendigo spirit. Over the course of twelve days, they will transform into a monster that feels little but rage and hunger. While at first it can be explained away easily enough (people are super annoying, and isn't everyone a little hungry most of the time?), by February 18th, wendigo transformations are impossible to ignore. A few days after, on February 22nd, the anger and cravings of the wendigo spirit will overcome all other emotions, and possessed characters may begin hunting.

The physical and mental transformation will be complete by February 26th. The possessed characters will have lost themselves completely at that point. While physical healing (done by a character with Hope's blessing or another healing ability) can turn back the physical and some mental effects, they will remain possessed until death or until Hope removes the wendigo spirit - which can only be done on the altar of Hope's temple. So have fun dragging your angry, possessed friends there!

On March 1st, Rage does Hope a solid (because she feels sort of bad) and kills all remaining wendigos. Upon revival, the spirit will be gone and the character will be fully recovered. Hopefully no one holds what they did while possessed against them!

[If he wasn't friends with Noah he would have punched that smile right off his smug ghost face. He's just going to ignore you now.]

[The Demon waggles his left hand, his pointer finger missing from the first joint down. As for the rest of it, fuck is this dude cheerful. It's unsettling.]

Because I make alcohol. Do you drink?

[Can he get this innocent snowflake drunk? That might be all worth it.]

[Noah was thrown out of a window by his current best friend. The Demon will have to do better than a punch.

Noah smiles at Clear, bright and encouraging.]

He makes really good stuff! [then, to the Demon] I think we were going to see if Clear could get drunk but we didn't get a chance to...

Noah let me try alcohol one time, but only a sip.

[He nods once, still smiling, but a calmer smile this time.]

I am unsure if I can get drunk since I am not human, but I was created to function just like one!

I am curious to try other varieties of alcohol, if you do not mind going through the trouble!

[Oh now he's interested.]

Ah. Well I'm happy to help you broaden your horizons.

[He tilts his head, taking in Clear's appearance. If he's friends with Noah he probably wants to drink some pink shit with tiny umbrellas in it. Unfortunately the Demon can't make cocktails appear out of thin air, just bottles of liquor. So suddenly a thin rectangular bottle appears in his hand, blue liquid sloshing around.]

I don't know how many different flavors of this I can make. But guess blueberry is a good start.

Blueberry's a great start.

[Noah likes the fruity, candy-flavored variety. Especially if it manages to be 100 proof somehow as well. Of course he does.]

Tell me how it tastes, I can't have any right now and I want to live vicariously.

[Clear bows in thanks as he takes the bottle carefully. He holds it up at eye level admiring the rich color of the blueberry liquor. He smiles.]

It is such a nice color...

Thank you very much, Alcohol Demon-san! I will be sure to enjoy this now then.

[He raises the bottle to the both of them in a polite thanks then takes a decent drink from it.

The initial taste of it was pleasant until it started to burn right after he swallowed. He closes his eyes tightly and breathes out.]

I taste the blueberries and it is very nice until it begins to burn. Will I get used to the sensation?

Not bad for a first timer.

[Meaning he half thought that Clear would pass out or start sputtering everywhere.]

I've never drank it, I wouldn't know. But considering the amount of alcoholics out there, you must.

You have to exhale before you take the drink - it's the contact with oxygen that makes the burn.

[Not that Noah would consider himself an alcoholic, but...]

[Clear nodded in response to Noah and let out a breath before taking another good swig of the hard stuff.

Since he was built to be as human as possible, the alcohol mixing with his artificial system started making his cheeks turn a soft pink color. (Since he was built by a Japanese man and everything)

That also meant his tolerance was probably made just right for his build.]

It feels warm in my belly.

[He placed a hand onto his stomach.]

Is that normal to feel so warm?

You're awfully knowledgeable about drinking for being underage.

[You're reminding him of a certain SCU Agent he haunts.]

The warm means it's working. Everything in your peripheral vision going swirly yet? That'll be next.

And then we find out if you're a giggly drunk or if you'll start taking swings at us.

[He'd bet on the former though.]

[Noah gives the Demon a look at the 'underage' comment.] You don't exactly look like a cop, so I don't see why you care.

[Besides, he is busy living vicariously through Clear's experience here.]

I'm a giggly friendly drunk, myself.

[He takes another long drink from the bottle. His cheeks are totally flushed pink now and he's definitely smiling.

His electronic brain reads that his alcohol levels are certainly high enough for him to act like a loon.]

This tastes better now! It's like the more I drink, the better it tastes!

[He plops down into a sit on the floor.]

Nooooah!-kun It tastes really good. Thank you, Alcohol Demon-san!

[Clear is definitely a happy drunk.]

I am so happy to have experienced this with new friends. Hahaha!

Oh! Oh! You know something--something else we have in common, Nooooooah-chan?

I died once, too! But here I am again!

[Well Ethan is anyway. He's not. ]

That's how I'm told it works. It'll keep tasting better the more you drink, and everyone around you will start looking better.

[The only saving grace in this is that Noah isn't drunk too and he doesn't have two giggly happy idiots following him around.]

[Noah makes an 'o' face at that - he really couldn't picture the Demon as a cop. Maybe a maverick cop, who gets too close to a case and the chief can't control... Noah snickers a bit.

If he was drunk too right now, the Demon would get no peace at all.]

Food tastes better when you're drunk, too! How'd you come back if you died before, Clear? You don't look like a ghost.

I was fixed! I was super broken. I broke myself, but Granny fixed me.

Ah! Do you think I could become a ghost, Noah-chama?

[He looks at the Alcohol Demon.]

I think you look great, Alcohol Demon-san. Even if I was not drunk.

[Giggle~]

[He jangles those dog tags around his neck at Noah. Sure they don't have his name on them, not that he has a name, but they're sorta proof that he kinda had a job back home. Well someone else did and he was "helping" them.]

So if you die we can just turn you off and back on again and should be good to go? Noted.

[He grunts at that Clear. Not what he meant at all.]

Nobody is dying!

[Noah pauses, realizing the irony of that statement, coming from him of all people.]

Nobody else is dying.

[Clear lets out a loud gasp and covers his mouth quickly.]

I am sorry! I spoke about something bad! I hurt Noah-dono's feelings! I did not mean to!

I am a bad person! I was insensitive!

[And then he flops over onto his side.]

I cannot be human if I hurt peoples' feelings like that.

[And just like that things escalate far too quickly.]

That's probably the most human thing you can do actually. Speaking without thinking is about as human as you get.

[And now Clear is on the floor. Should he... pick him up?]

You okay there? Everything swimming yet?

[Well... Noah can't pick him up, so he kinda looks at the Demon with an eyebrow raise like 'this hot potato is in your court, dude'.

Then sort of kneels down next to where Clear is having floor time.]

Yeah, if anything you were too nice to be human before. Saying something kinda insensitive without thinking? Totally 100% human.

You should lay on your side, too. In case you puke. Then you won't choke on it. Can you puke?

[Clear is very heavy, but he is open to any sort of contact.

He looks between the alcohol demon and then Noah.

Things definitely felt like they were moving while he was laying on the ground, but he was still lucid.]

So I was able to do something human after all even though I feel bad about it? That makes me feel...

[He couldn't think of the word. And normally when he struggled with the words to put to feelings, he could pull out one and figure it out with some help. But in his current state, no words came.]

I do not know if I can vomit. I guess we will find out. But everything is very much swimming. Like floating on air.

[Oh no no no. Holding someone's hair back when they puke falls squarely on Noah's shoulders. He didn't sign up for this.]

If he can drink it down then it can come back up.

Sounds like you're getting to the blackout stage. Right now you're in the everything is great and floaty stage. Try and enjoy it.

Not everyone blacks out.

[Because THAT'S helpful. Still.

Noah lays down on his side as well to share floor time with Clear, because sometimes it's nice to have someone join you in floor time even if they're sober.]

The floaty stage is the best one though, that's true.
