Event Log: Bad End

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Bad End event
Where: All over the city!
When: August 23rd-September 5th
Warnings: Bad futures, awkward conversations, smashed mirrors

You wake up to find a mirror at your bedside - a pretty nice one, too, a silver hand mirror perfect for fixing your hair in. Only when you try to do that, it's not your gorgeous reflection that you see. It's something else - a terrible future, just about as bad as anything you could imagine for yourself.

Maybe you see your loved ones dead on the ground, and you know it's your fault. Maybe you see the goal you've been working so hard for pulled out of your reach forever. Maybe you see someone you've hurt in the past ruining your life. Maybe you see your hot girlfriend leaving you to shack up with your worst enemy. Whatever you see, it really sucks, and you know that it's possible. This future could happen if you make the wrong choices, give in to your worst impulses.

Break the mirror if you want, but you'll see the same vision in any reflective surface in the city. You can't break them all, but you can sure try. And what will you do when you see your best friend's vision - and it features you betraying them?

Seek reassurance, give reassurance, lash out, vow to yourself that you'll never let it turn out that way, sink into the depths of sorrow because you feel like the future you see is inevitable. Whatever you do, it won't take away those visions - not until the event is over.

► This log covers August 23rd-September 5th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you can't handle the idea of your dark future, or maybe you just accidentally slip and fall on a mirror shard, let us know here.

[Despite her initial suspicion, Marian does remember her earlier conversation on the network and Lup seems, if maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed, at least in the right frame of mind as far as the parasites are concerned.]

Unfortunately, we have no further clues to go on regarding the Door yet, and short of inviting the Null...

[She hesitates, looking like she's about to say something more but not really sure it's a great idea.]
restinglichface: (resumes are essentially bullshit)

[Her arms cross, mouth twisted into a thin line, still glaring. There's a brief pause, Lup waiting for Marian to continue her train of thought, but when she doesn't, she prompts her to continue.]

What? Say it.

[This is probably a terrible idea. But on the other hand, maybe it's better if someone else knows about it? In the worst case? Marian's not sure 'reliable' is the right word for Lup either but... on the other hand again, she seems unlikely to turn around on her position on the parasites.]

I... ah, had a private conversation with the Null. About bringing them here.

[She pauses again, waiting more on the reaction than anything.]

[Lup's not necessarily the most trustworthy person with secrets, but that's only because she tells her twin everything, the two never keeping a single detail from one another. But besides Taako, Marian's idea is safe with Lup. Which is probably a good thing considering the weight behind it.

The elf looks a little taken back for once, eyes widening. That wasn't at all what she was expecting to hear.]
Shit. That's...That's something. So what did they say? Are you already in planning stages? Is this thing kicking off sooner than expected?

They're obviously concerned that if they approach, the parasites will just move the city again. But... if there was a big enough energy signature of... some kind... that they'd be able to detect it.

[Keeping their energy signature big enough to track, huh? Funny, according to her brother, that had been the exact opposite of what they'd been working on back in her timeline. Minimizing the light's energy signature so that they could stay hidden and not be found, so this final planet they'd landed on would remain untouched, unlike the last ninety-nine they'd see consumed.

It could work though and with the powerful forces in Hadriel, might not be too hard.]

So, we need a light show? My brother and I can help. We've got that shit on lock.

I think... we should consider it as a last resort. Knowing what happened to the natives when the Null attempted to destroy the parasites the first time...

[As vehemently as Marian wants to see the parasites stopped... she's also not keen on the idea of dying if there's still any other possibilities left. But at least someone else has the idea in mind now, if something should happen to her one way or another... ...or if the parasites follow through on their 'investigation' plans in some way.]
restinglichface: (You’re eight! You’re not ‘turnt!)

[The reminder of what happened to Hadriel's previous natives is enough of a sobering thought that even Lup grows quiet. It's not the first time she's thought of the benefits to being a lich in this place. Besides the destructive powers she'd wield, she'd be mostly unkillable, a last stand against the gods if the unthinkable happened.

It's a plan she wants to fly by her friends, but Lup can imagine their reactions won't be too positive, even if she's already been told it's what her future holds back in their timeline. Why not fudge the when and where it happened a little? What could it hurt?]

Got it. Either way, keep us updated. My crew is all on the side of kicking these guys out of power.

The question is, how far are they willing to go to keep all of this from happening to anyone else...

[Marian isn't optimistic on that front, voice bleak.]
restinglichface: (Thank you rabies for Teen Wolf.)

[personal profile] restinglichface 2017-09-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't been around here long, but I'm guessing the answer is a big, fat zero.

Yes... that's.... what I assumed.

[Nobody else is really on board with the possibility that they could end up dead in the process of saving others... ]

[Does any of this information fill Lup up with the reassurance they'll come out on top of this war? Nope! But she shrugs and takes it as is. Hadriel sucks, but it's shitty gods are still a hundred times better than the Hunger ever was.]

Gotcha. So we'll just keep this on the d-l for now and see how shit pans out?
