It's that time again! Or, well, probably the very first time for you. It's not that often that you turn up in a different world - unless it is. You awaken on the ground of a large arena, a stone ceiling stretching high above you. Welcome to Hadriel! Don't worry, you weren't the only one who woke up here. So did a bunch of other people - and so did some monsters.
Yup, crawling around being incredibly gross are quite a few Jauchekafers, large beetles that feed off chemical and biological waste from humans. When upset or alarmed, they're perfectly happy to swarm and attack people, so hopefully you didn't wake up in the middle of them. Being about two and a half feet long, their bites can do quite a bit of damage, and that's not even counting the toxicity that might be passed on from their diet!
Speaking of their diet, those beetles aren't the only trash that's washed up in Hadriel this month. While making your escape from the arena, you might stumble over a interesting table or a possibly comfy chair, or even a piece of art. A lot of it's pretty cool, but you're not gonna find anything that isn't made out of trash. But hey, maybe that's your aesthetic?
Don't get too distracted by all this trash that has been turned into treasure. After you've find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

So far as Cal was concerned, Seel didn't have to like anything, so long as he listened when he was told to shut up. He didn't want to have to use that power, but he knew what his mouth was like in more ways than one. So long as he remembered to stay in line it wasn't that much a concern.
He almost snapped back at Seel, too, knowing there was no need for it now. He managed to rein in his tongue, but it took a few extra moments of silence. It probably killed Seel knowing what Swift thought of Cal.
"I suppose so. Perhaps I'll come back for a visit. Once we manage to leave here." If they managed to leave.

Still, he couldn't quite suppress a twitch at the idea of Cal, Tigron or not, coming for a visit in Forever. Sitting at the fucking dinner table. So, in a completely undiplomatic tone, replied, "Yes, you'll have to. Swift and Cobweb would love to see you." Maybe he could ask Yarrow to poison Cal's soup. That wouldn't piss Pell off at all....he sighed inwardly. Fuck.
Yes, it was killing him, knowing what Swift thought and felt about Cal, knowing that there were so many damn people who cared about what became of him. Was Seel angry over Orien's death, still? Or just jealous? Had the emotions mixed and fermented long enough that he couldn't tell the difference anymore?
no subject
At least he knew to expect Seel's reaction, though, so all he did was raise an eyebrow at Seel's tone. He wasn't going to stop him mouthing off if he tried. Most of the time he didn't want to, until Seel stepped out of line. Something told him, though, that Seel knew exactly where that line was and enjoyed stepping back and forth across it so he couldn't quite be punished for it.
"I'm sure they would." Because Seel sure wouldn't. "I'd say I'll make sure to warn the house but I'm sure Cobweb can manage that on his own."
no subject
Like now, when he shook his toe over the line just to show Cal he wasn't completely whipped, just enough that it wouldn't warrant intervention, yet. He knew exactly where that line was. He was a damn politician.
"Yes, it would be hard for anyone to surprise Cobweb." But Seel had done it, granted, he'd chosen to move after Terzian died, not exactly fair, but Seel would take the victory. "But I'm sure if anyone is capable, you are."
no subject
Not completely whipped. Ha. That was a good one. He just wasn't entirely muzzled. He could still speak, and Cal was half beginning to wonder whether that was a mistake.

Seel, stuck in a position which gave him power, but not the reach to act on it. Tempered by those higher than him. And Cal? Fought for a position which had been wrongfully denied and still learning how to wield it. What a pair they made.
Maybe someone could make Cal a muzzle. A whip would be easier.
"Maybe I'm out of practice." It wasn't like he had Swift around, to keep him sweet. And Pell, well it was Pell. And still a little weird, considering the thirty year age difference and personality shift.
no subject
"Out of practice" was a damn understatement. "Deliberately being rude" was much closer. Maybe he should have ended the conversation but maybe he had a masochistic streak. And Seel would just bring it up again later. It would never be over.
"Maybe you'd better make a point to 'practice,' then."
no subject
"Is that an order or a request Tiahaar?"
They were both monsters, and there they danced. Even as Seel knew the steps, biting back and taking what territory he could, he knew he wasn't going to win. He never won, unless it involved locking people in rooms and trying to throw away the key.
no subject
"I'm here, Seel, and you're going to have to get used to it. Whether that's sooner or later I don't much care, but it will have to happen." He'd never been able to cut Cal completely out of his life, and it was going to be even harder now.
"You're only damaging yourself fighting the inevitable. I could not care less about how comfortable or uncomfortable I'm making you by existing."
no subject
"I understand, Tiahaar." Seel replied through gritted teeth, because he fucking hated this. Despite everything Cal had did, everything he wanted him to do, how Cal had helped him, Seel held grudges. He needed to work past it, and now well, he didn't really have a choice.
"I'll do my best." Essentially cowed, Seel did the proper thing through steely eyes and bowed his head. He now had two Tigrons to deal with, whether or not Pell chose to pull his weight was besides the matter. He was Tigron, whether it happened yet or not.
no subject
He wanted to snipe right back at him with "do you" but held his tongue; he almost had to bite it not to speak and ruin the quasi-peaceful truce the had at the moment. He'd already antagonized Seel enough. Instead he just nodded, finding something off in the distance to pretend he was distracted with.
"I'm sure you will. You might even manage it. Was there anything else?"
