Intro Log: The Joys of Composting

What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

It's that time again! Or, well, probably the very first time for you. It's not that often that you turn up in a different world - unless it is. You awaken on the ground of a large arena, a stone ceiling stretching high above you. Welcome to Hadriel! Don't worry, you weren't the only one who woke up here. So did a bunch of other people - and so did some monsters.

Yup, crawling around being incredibly gross are quite a few Jauchekafers, large beetles that feed off chemical and biological waste from humans. When upset or alarmed, they're perfectly happy to swarm and attack people, so hopefully you didn't wake up in the middle of them. Being about two and a half feet long, their bites can do quite a bit of damage, and that's not even counting the toxicity that might be passed on from their diet!

Speaking of their diet, those beetles aren't the only trash that's washed up in Hadriel this month. While making your escape from the arena, you might stumble over a interesting table or a possibly comfy chair, or even a piece of art. A lot of it's pretty cool, but you're not gonna find anything that isn't made out of trash. But hey, maybe that's your aesthetic?

Don't get too distracted by all this trash that has been turned into treasure. After you've find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Nervous hands pull at the fabric of their pants, still a little scuffed from their recent encounter with the bug creatures from the Door.]

yeah... really mettaton, you've done nothing but help me since i got here...
i should... be helping you more... somehow...

[They linger in silence for a few seconds, fidgeting awkwardly.]

are you... mad that i left...?

[Mettaton hesitates for a moment, but only a short one, before he looks over at Napstablook with such a tired expression on his face. This, at least, he can tell them. He supposes they deserve to know.]

I'm not mad at you, Blooky. I was never mad at you, it is only that...I have alread lost so many people I cared about. My biggest fear was losing you, because it's been well on a year since I saw you last.

And...I know that it must have been just as terrible for you.

When I left...

I must have hurt you so deeply and I don't know how I could subject you to that, as if I am so important that I could just discard you. I never wanted to discard you, but I'm so sorry for what it must have felt like.

Blooky, sweetheart, I don't want to lose you. It is so painful...I've already lost everyone else, I didn't want to accept that the gods took you from me.

[Mettaton feels a tightening in his chest, the implicit need to properly emote, except he never can. He's not a ghost anymore, and he's not human either. No tears to shed.]

I've lost everyone else, even Alphys once. And now you. I don't think my heart could take it again...

[soundtest]

[What Mettaton says is a lot to take in, and Napstablook can't deny it didn't hurt when he left. No goodbyes, no notes, just an empty house and snails that needed looking after.]

i never got out much anyway... and i know you needed more than that... you always had really big plans

[Mettaton was always outgoing, with big dreams that he'd never achieve on a little snail farm in the middle of Waterfall.

He always did talk about how much he loved humans.]

and i'm not sure if i ever would've left...

[They attempt a weak smile.]

i had your show to keep my company... i guess it's silly that i never realized it was you...
