Intro Log: The Joys of Composting

It's that time again! Or, well, probably the very first time for you. It's not that often that you turn up in a different world - unless it is. You awaken on the ground of a large arena, a stone ceiling stretching high above you. Welcome to Hadriel! Don't worry, you weren't the only one who woke up here. So did a bunch of other people - and so did some monsters.

Yup, crawling around being incredibly gross are quite a few Jauchekafers, large beetles that feed off chemical and biological waste from humans. When upset or alarmed, they're perfectly happy to swarm and attack people, so hopefully you didn't wake up in the middle of them. Being about two and a half feet long, their bites can do quite a bit of damage, and that's not even counting the toxicity that might be passed on from their diet!

Speaking of their diet, those beetles aren't the only trash that's washed up in Hadriel this month. While making your escape from the arena, you might stumble over a interesting table or a possibly comfy chair, or even a piece of art. A lot of it's pretty cool, but you're not gonna find anything that isn't made out of trash. But hey, maybe that's your aesthetic?

Don't get too distracted by all this trash that has been turned into treasure. After you've find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Is Angus dunking on Taako by bringing up the silverware in the most passive-aggressively earnest way possible, or is it a genuinely innocent question? The world may never know, and Angus ain't telling! ]

Five is right! Three after the train crashed, and then two more forks for Candlenights. I'm not hung up on it, they were just very memorable, sir! After all, they were the last remaining pieces from my Grandpa's set.

... But that does prove that you're the real Taako, so. Um.

[ That bright smile dims a bit, and Angus uses an approaching bug as a way to avoid eye contact for a few moments as he magic-missile's it onto its back. ]

... I guess we're really kinda stuck here for the time being, huh.

[pocketspa]

[He sees the kid's face fall, and his mouth twitches a bit, placing the palm of his hand flat on Angus' back and guiding him firmly to the door, at least getting them out of bug zone alpha.]

Yeah, not a ton we can do about that, but-- hey, no work or anythin' to do now. And Mags is here-- not that its important when your favorite elf is around.

[He tilts his comically oversized hat good-naturedly.]

C'mon, you're stayin' with us, little man. Though, uh, might need to move with us to a new place if you want your own room.

[ God, between everything that just happened back home, and everything that's happening here, it's been a long, overwhelmingly weird day and Angus is tired. He hesitates a second before he just sort of leans into Taako's side, bumping his head against his ribs. ]

I can sleep on the couch if you guys have a couch, I wouldn't want to impose.

Couch is usually pretty occupied by Magnus' teeth machine. 'Ss cool. We were planning to move anyway.

[No they weren't, but they are now.]

Me 'n Lup will just share a bed tonight and we'll go house huntin' later.
