Event Log: Party Royale

What: The event log for the Party Royale event

Warnings: Paintball, loss of consciousness, and partying!

As is par for the course in Hadriel, at some point throughout the day- waking up, making breakfast, doing laundry- you find an item. This isn't just any item though, it's a tried and true paintball gun, shining and just waiting to be picked up. This gun never runs out of ammunition, never malfunctions, and almost always hits the target that you're aiming at, so say hello to your new best friend for the next week.

Touching or picking up the gun will fill you with a competitive surge, which will likely increase when you find the note that's left with it, saying nothing more than be the last one standing. With instructions like that, how could you lose?

Well, you could lose if someone else shoots you. But never fear, there's a plan for that too! Even if you embrace the throes of unconsciousness, the gods have got your back and will eventually teleport you into a grand party where prizes will be handed out based on how long you survived. Awesome! At this party is also the traditional copious amounts of food and drink, as well as everyone's favorite goddess Delight and everyone's slightly-less-favorite goddess Rage!

You mean like, starved to death? How long were we out?

[ Him. Herself. Everybody. ]

Of course I was a participant. I do not back down from any challenge.

[ Not untrue. She planned to do battle all week, but... Irisviel. Almost nothing can come between Saber and victory, but her Master is one of them. ]

Your prize is impressive, but I am satisfied with my own. I have no need of such a weapon.

[ ... She really fucking wants that trophy though. ]

Oho! Feeling a little threatened, dude? Can't blame you, I'm a pretty good shot.

[ Nothing like a little friendly competition.

She peers out from her hiding spot just a fraction to potentially see where he's shooting from himself. It's only a minor peek but likely enough for him to spot her head of golden hair. ]

[ They probably don't. If the orchard and their scooters are any indications, the gods just kind of go 'this looks close enough' and it works out pretty well. It's kind of endearing in some ways. ]

Yeah, same. Can't be too mad now that I got this rad jacket. Still. Would've been nice to take home a trophy...

[ A beat. ]

Is that any good?

[evocation]

[Using her invisibility spell is a great plan. What's less great is the fact that it takes her a while to actually find Tucker when he's wearing that cloak she gave him, so when she finally drops the invisibility and pops into sight, she's been looking for him for a good fifteen minutes. Lame.]

There you are. You look so shady, you know that, right?

[evocation]

Plants? God, how did they even pick these prizes?

[As much as she's stubbornly standing up for the kigurumi, she wishes it at least had magical properties or something.]

What kind of plants?

[well, why wouldn't she think of her as a young lady? Marg doesn't know anything about homunculi, they don't exist in her world

Margaery smiles at her]

That's quite a lot of food. [friendly laugh] What have you tried so far? And, what is "Twister?"

[lifetothefullest]

Then, as I said, call her Dr. Brennan. Or just doctor.

[He frowns back, though more to match the expression than because he's actually particularly annoyed.]

I'm sure the same can be said of anyone's world.

[what does she have to do for the second one?]

I tried? Just my luck I run into someone who's a much better shot than I am. Did you play?

[she wanted to win, or at least outlast everyone else. and she never ran into Jo throughout the game. which is good, at least in her opinion. she sees Jo as the big sister she never had and wouldn't have been able to pull the trigger on her]

[Margaery is fond of the Speakeasy. it has wine. such things are necessary in a place like this.

she puts on her best "innocent little me" expression]

Well, if it helps, I never actually shot anyone. I don't know the first thing about how such a device would operate, so I just hid until someone who did know what he was doing found me.

A couple of weeks. I've been here nearly a month. That's hard for me to believe. I hope that the ones who come in after me have an easier time of it.

[he's still doing more to help newcomers than she is]

Isn't that the guy who wrote the newbie guide? [George shrugs] Some guy with white hair and red eyes. I've talked to him a couple of times, but I don't think I got his name. We basically had each other cornered and I did something stupid first.

It's not exactly gonna fit on your average mantlepiece.

[but the gun is a lot more useful?]

Convenient and kind of weird. So it's probably best that I not think about how they knew so much.

Really? I thought he was kinda condescending. I hate that. Fear was actually nice, though.

Oh, and I guess I haven't introduced myself. I'm George. Hi.

[it is adorable. and she's glad to see him, too]

Not much for parties you can't leave, huh? Can't say that I blame you.

[she gets that. obligatory anything sucks]

They called it a Mango Tango. I'm not sure where the tango comes in since I don't feel like dancing, but it's tasty.

I'm Kyna. And yeah, he's totally a condescending douche, but he keeps us alive, right?

[Apparently Kyna's bar is low.]

Everyone says Delight is cool too, I guess.

[Margaery looks it over. she sees a lot of buttons. there must be some combination of buttons they have to press to make it work, but she wouldn't know which combination without trial and error]

Neither do I. But surely it can't be too terribly difficult. Have you seen anyone use it?

I guess? Even brings us back from the dead. Which is pretty lucky.

[George will grant him that since it means she doesn't have to do her job. she hates doing her job]

Delight would kind of have to be, given the name.

Yeah, sure. Unless she wanted to screw with us or something. Who's idea do you think this was?

[friendly laugh] Well, if you do I doubt that you'll be able to have one here.

I can see the party being her thing, but not the paintball guns. They weren't exactly frightening, so I don't think it's fear. Maybe Rage?

Yeah. Or suffocated, if the coma was enough to impede natural breathing. [it wasn't, thankfully. But here's Law, speaking of such grim fates like he's discussing the weather] It was about three days before the bodies vanished. I take it that's when the gods brought you here?

[George also tends to lurk at the edge of the party, only venturing out when she needs more food or another drink. as she goes back to her corner, she finds someone else in it]

A guy I've talked to a couple of times. Don't think I ever got his name. He's got white hair and red eyes, though. You?

[call it a need for exercise, killing monsters works nicely]

Nearly two, for me, so. You aren't that far behind in seeing all the ways this place works. [he nods vaguely toward the confines of the coliseum around them] By now we've gotten enough of a look into the way the so-called gods behave, that seems to be the most important factor.
