Event Log: Party Royale

Warnings: Paintball, loss of consciousness, and partying!

As is par for the course in Hadriel, at some point throughout the day- waking up, making breakfast, doing laundry- you find an item. This isn't just any item though, it's a tried and true paintball gun, shining and just waiting to be picked up. This gun never runs out of ammunition, never malfunctions, and almost always hits the target that you're aiming at, so say hello to your new best friend for the next week.

Touching or picking up the gun will fill you with a competitive surge, which will likely increase when you find the note that's left with it, saying nothing more than be the last one standing. With instructions like that, how could you lose?

Well, you could lose if someone else shoots you. But never fear, there's a plan for that too! Even if you embrace the throes of unconsciousness, the gods have got your back and will eventually teleport you into a grand party where prizes will be handed out based on how long you survived. Awesome! At this party is also the traditional copious amounts of food and drink, as well as everyone's favorite goddess Delight and everyone's slightly-less-favorite goddess Rage!

[After nearly three months of being trapped in this shitty cave, Hadriel does something fucking cool. Finally.

A paintball goes whizzing past the first unfortunate soul who steps into Lup's sight from her position in the park. The elf cackles, unable to help herself, before quickly crouching down behind a nearby tree.]

You have five seconds to lay down and surrender or you best prepare to get dunked on.

[Which is absolutely punctuated by the faint sound of an air horn. Thanks, Prestidigitation!]

ii. after party;

[Covered in bruises and beaming brighter than the sun they never see, Lup looks like she's in her element at the after party. She slides up to strangers with ease, talking them into drinks and dancing, delighted to just laugh and put the difficulties of living in Hadriel behind them for the night.

After a few drinks, she stops asking and just insistently drags people to the dance floor instead, throwing a quick wink over her shoulder.] C'mon, this song is the best! We need to dance!

[ It is Curufin's nose that that paintball whizzes past. He jumps back, then crouches and runs to a tree of his own. He peers out from behind it, a smile on his face, looking quickly around for Lup's cover. He knows which direction the missile came from -- not to mention the cackle! -- and he thinks he can see where she is. ]

Sorry, I don't think I'll be surrendering anytime soon!

[ Pop! He sends off a paintball of his own, aiming for the tree he thinks she's behind. His sharp eyes are scanning for the slightest indication of a person behind it -- a flying lock of hair, a hand, a foot, a wisp of a sleeve, anything. ]

I. PAINTBALL | STORES | OTA *(if someone wants to knock Alice out, they're welcome to this pretty blue target, but only one person, pm or just state in comment intent but more than one can attempt to paintball her)

[ All she wanted was to get some new cloth bedding and see if there were any plates and silverware she could bring to her home with Dany. She spots the gun just as she lifts a soft comforter off one of the store's shelves. It glitters and glints and she can feel a physical pull.

She moves back from it immediately. She's seen many different types of weaponry but nothing like this. And anything that calls for someone in such a way can be nothing good.

Should someone enter the store, she gives warning. ]

Keep back from the gun. I believe it's cursed.

II. PARTY

[ It was a strange feeling to wake in the Coliseum once more and she feels a swell of panic. The last time she woke here, monsters wanted to tear her and anyone in their way apart.

But, no, this time it's different. There are no monsters and, in their place, were tables loaded with a variety of food and drinks. Was this their condolences for losing? Or had they done well? To the closest person, she'll ask: ]

Do you have any clue as to what's going on here?

[He woke up here not so long ago, but is perhaps more used to rolling with this kind of thing. A sudden party? Sure, why not.]

If I had to guess, I'd say this is the losers' banquet. The last thing I remember is getting hit.

[Rhy doesn't seem terribly bothered by that. It was all just a game, and now they're here, so it doesn't feel like too much of a loss. If anything, it just means they get to party sooner.

He raises one hand, holding the leather jacket he woke up with.]

But perhaps we've won prizes anyway.

Carlisle Longinmouth [closed]

Accidents
[Despite the fact that someone -- the false gods, if he had to guess -- had invaded his home in the night and placed a pair of guns upon the couch, Carlisle could not fathom himself even considering touching either of them.

He knew enough about guns to recognize them: though a rarer commodity in his world than they were in many others, the weapons were not completely foreign to the clergyman. These appeared quite a bit more advanced than those he knew of, but the shape was about right -- a stock here, a trigger there, the barrel. That was the business end. With their sleek designs, Carlisle decided immediately that these looked too much like other technology for his liking, the hair on the back of his neck rising the longer he stood there and contemplated the horrible contraptions.

And on top of that, they clearly came from the supposed deities of Hadriel. Be the last one standing, hmph. Surely no one was actually going to take them up on that offer, he thought. Then again, that might be asking a bit much of people. The gods had tried to get people to kill one another before, and people were bewitched enough to go along with it. Why would it make any difference when it was a factionless free-for-all?

Carlisle snorted loudly, disdain written across him as he went to fetch some of his morning tea from the kitchen. "It appears the false gods have left us gifts," he called to Glacius, his voice dripping with loathing on that final word. Knowing how the alien feels about violence, he has no doubt his partner will agree with him on the foolishness of anyone who would buy into this event.

However, it's not just the guns themselves that are dangerous; if only Carlisle had known, he perhaps things would have been different.]

[It's only the fact that Carlisle sounds reasonably calm--if not plenty disdainful-- over this latest development that keeps Glacius from bursting into the room in a hissing fit, but that does not mean that he seems pleased when he enters from their bedroom. Any mention of their captors and their machinations is enough to leave him wary and loathing. It takes him a second to notice the weapons placed on the couch; he's scanning for bigger threats or changes to their environment, initially. Finding nothing of immediate danger, he scans one more time, and--

--Ah. There they are. Glacius' eyes narrow as they fall upon those small but sleek weapons, and he pushes a snort from his gills that matches the disgust in Carlisle's tone.] So this is their game, then? It seems a bit obvious compared to their usual ploys. Do they really expect use to use such foul contraptions? I shall remove them from our dwelling at once. We should not have to suffer such... instruments of repugnant violence.

Michael Munroe | Closed + Open

1. 23rd - Closed to Mello

[Michael reads the note before he even considers touching the gun, and the words give him an immediate uneasy feeling. Be the last one standing. That sounds... like something he definitely should not indulge himself in. He throws a towel over the paintball gun and scoots it into the spare room with his shoe. It can live in quarantine with the spider chair. Out of sight, out of mind.

Michael plans to stay inside himself, too, but his dwindling food supply has other plans. After a day, he realizes he's going to have to venture out. He's not exactly being cautious (it's just paintball, right?) because losing a city-wide sports match doesn't bother him. He's not playing, anyway.

But then he starts to realize that the city is even quieter than usual. He doesn't see anyone else, playing or not, and the only sound is the faint report of paintball fire. That's... weird... ??? Just in case, he decides to stick to side-streets, skulking around in the hopes that he'll spot anyone else before they spot him. He's not armed with a gun, but he keeps a hand on the knife in his pocket. He's not sure why he's so tense, but the gods are clearly involved, so something is wrong.

Michael peeks out onto one of the streets in the shopping area, trying to determine if it's safe to move.]

2. It's Party Time - Open!

[Spoiler alert: Michael goes down on the 23rd. He doesn't mind waking up in the colosseum once he realizes it's not full of monsters; beats having to sneak around the city. He's not very fond of parties, though, so he'll mostly be sticking to his room.

However, much like before, he will eventually have to eat. You can find Michael sitting near the food tables with a plate full of whatever spicy stuff he could find. Beside him, given its own chair, is a pot of venus fly traps. What, they've got flowers.

If you're taking a break from dancing or just not that into partying yourself, there's another chair beside the pot you can sit down in.]

[ Rose asks, about the venus flytrap getting its own seat. He'll note that she is sporting a nice new leather jacket; it's a consolation prize, but hey. She's actually not too bothered by the fact, it seems. ]

Tucker | Mostly Open!

1. The A Team; Closed to Kyna

[Tucker picks up the paintball gun and instantly knows what he has to do. He's got the skills to win, but he's also got a bff who knows invisibility spells. Of course they're going to team up and dominate this shit. And if he maybe has to betray her in the end to be the ultimate winner THEM'S THE BREAKS, K.

He sends her a text that morning.]

2. There Can Be Only One; Open to All

a. Kyna + Tucker Both

[For most of the event, Tucker and Kyna will be working as a team. She'll use her magic, and he'll use his stealth and gun skills. Between invisibility, teleporting, and wolf-like senses, they're going to make a formidable alliance.

When they're together, they'll move under Kyna's invisibility spells, but that unfortunately doesn't make them silent. Maybe you'll hear faint breathing, or a brief shuffle. Or maybe you can sense them some other way? Better move fast!]

b. Tucker Only

[At times, whether it's to flank another paintballer or get supplies, they'll be forced to split up. And then on the 27th, Kyna is going to go and get herself shot. When alone, Tucker will be sticking to rooftops, or to the shadows where his enchanted cloak lets him blend in easier. He's hard to get the jump on, but you're welcome to try. If you do encounter him, it's likely you won't know he's there until you're suddenly fired upon from above. Is he on the roof, or is he peeking out a window? You should probably hide either way.]

3. Potluck; Open!

[Tucker winds up surviving the paintballs of fury, only to find out it was a stupid setup for a dumb party. Whatever!!! It's not like he was worried or anything!

After making his way into the colosseum and receiving his gun-prize, Tucker's headed straight for the eats and the drinks. No way is he turning down food that isn't canned.

You'll find him with an entire plate of turkey meatballs balanced on one hand, the other pouring a stiff drink. He's trying to pretend he's in a better mood than he is, so he'll strike up a conversation with anyone who approaches.]

[ So eloquent. So lady-like. Yes, that would be Rosie. Thanks to her deal with Hope, she's a bit more aware than she otherwise would be. It's been useful for this event especially. ]

C'mon, dude, sniping is a low blow, [ she calls out, to whoever had almost gotten her just moments ago. She's been doing so well, too. ]

Gilbert/Prussia| open

[Paintball!]
[Filling this guy with a feeling of competitiveness is down right dangerous. He's spent his life as a very militarized nation bullying the rest of Europe around; a paintball match is literally child's play. There's no need to convince him to go outside and start shooting. At first, Prussia looks for folks who also have guns and are playing along too. But soon, even non-competitors will be targeted too.

While he's much better at military combat, Prussia's still a force to be reckoned with in this game. Sure, he feels bad that the first person he shoots seems to be unable to wake up, but they're still breathing! He's got other targets all over town to worry about, okay!?

His best tactic is that of surprise, and he's been getting a lot of people by popping around a corner and firing off 3 or 4 quick rounds, laughing with manic delight. Some stronger targets might find they're getting stalked, though, and this slippery asshole is so good at dodging and jumping out of the way of hits. It's probably even more frustrating that Prussia seems to be having such a good damn time on top of it.]

[Prussia's made it to the end without getting hit! Expect to never stop hearing about this, ever. He's tickled with the trophy, but the gun is an unexpected surprise. He lights up like a kid at Christmas. Sure, it's 100 years old to him, but it's a really beauty. This is the best day Prussia's had in Hadriel in nine months. He's going to show everyone his prizes, whether they're on the dance floor or standing by the food table. Somehow he's juggling a beer, a gun and a trophy all at once.]

Look! I did it! HA!

[It doesn't occur to him for a moment that some of the folks he shot might not be so thrilled with his win.]

Also, she does not see his effusive joy as bragging. It is merely a statement of fact. Therefore, she looks unimpressed as he comes up to her with his gun and trophy and beer.]

Congratulations. I do not like to lose, but I find I prefer my bottle of scotch to your classic gun and rather useless trophy.

[a: paintball, 24th & before]

[He may not be the most skilled, but Adam at least knows how to use a gun. And a paintball gun? Well, that's even easier, given that it will probably not end with someone dead. He already has a bit of a competitive streak at times, and picking up the gun... all right, he knows he won't win. There are plenty of people here with way more skills and way more bloodthirstiness (paint-thirstiness)? But he's not gonna go down without a fight.

Adam, of course, chooses an area he knows pretty well. He heads to the orchard, banking on knowing the lay of the land better than the majority of people. He slips through the trees, on alert, until he sees a flash of movement - a person, a breeze, one of the jabberjays? He turns and fires.]

[b: party, after the 24th]

[He was right. He didn't win. He didn't even last all that long, and truthfully things got kind of weird after he realized the paintballs were knocking people unconscious. It's a bit of a relief to discover that they just ended up coming to this party.

Adam's not so much of a partying type, but he apparently isn't allowed to leave yet, so he might as well enjoy this. Or rather - he might as well load a plate with food and then find a quiet room or a quiet corner to eat it in while avoiding awkward conversation.

But can he avoid awkward conversation? Right now, he can be found by the tables of food, carefully picking out pastries and pieces of fruit. It's a little crowded, though.]

A In the Field, Sept 23-26

[You know, between the fire and this gun appearing in his apartment, Law is starting to think these gods know way more about his past than they should. But he leaves it. He doesn't need guns. It looks weird anyway, and what's with that note? He leaves it alone and heads out on his usual rounds, hunting for food and then going to the clinic. Not knowing whether anyone else has been so gifted with firepower, he keeps his haki up, prepared to dodge should anyone take a shot at him.

And then he stumbles on Michael.

Law does everything in his power to revive him to no effect, and then stays where he is, crouched with shoulders hunched and a small bubble of Room covering both of them while he examines the unconscious man. It takes a bit to determine that he's not in any danger of dying, but it's still disturbing to find someone comatose and be unable to fix it. While he's working, he has his back turned, it seems like anyone could sneak up on him. Especially if they still don't know what he can do with that Room...]

B Just in Case, Sept 26-29

[seeing that no one is smart enough to put the damn guns down even if their shots are knocking each other out, Law finally takes hold of his and feels that irrational surge. It's hard to fight against, but his concern for the fallen sort of mitigates it just a bit. As of when the bodies of the comatose start vanishing, he's in this to the end.

His nodachi in one hand and the gun in the other, he guards himself as he moves to and from the clinic, out to stop anyone from continuing to add to the body count (since they're disappearing now) or at least from getting him. He moves with purpose, senses constantly alert. His haki should keep him from getting shot in the back, but anyone trying to get the drop on him might not know that.]

C Party Time

[Count Law among the 'why am I stuck here what is this fun you speak of' population. As long as he can get some food and maybe one mug of ale or rum, he's fine without the dancing and the loud noise. He'll be sulking over in a corner until they all get out, which leaves him completely vulnerable to anyone invading his personal space.]

[Teaming up with her best friend is Kyna's best bet here, and she knows it. She's not a great shot. In fact, she's shot a gun maybe once, and she definitely didn't hit the bullseye. Tucker is better at it, and with her magic and his skill, she's certain they've got this in the bag. Inevitably, though, they get separated, and Kyna can't cast her invisibility spell indefinitely, so she's left pretty much on her own. Cool, great.

She tries to be sneaky, sticking close to cover like Tucker would, but she's a wizard, not a rogue, and there's no way she's going to stay out of sight forever.]

iii - party! after the 27th
[Kyna finds herself at the afterparty after being shot by Nate, what a dick, and is simultaneously annoyed and relieved. No one was actually in any danger but she still lost, which blows. Still, she thinks maybe the food and drinks will be enough to drown her sorrows in, so after picking up her prize, she makes a beeline for the tables. She's wearing a kigurumi, and a very silly one at that. Does she actually think it looks cool or is she wearing it out of stubbornness? Who knows. If anyone approaches, she'll turn to them slightly while piling up her plate.]

At least they're willing to do something kind of nice.

[Chris is shamelessly wearing his own kigurumi, looking incredibly amused by the entire thing, and although he'd gone to the tables to grab some food for himself he definitely gravitated toward Kyna based on her own embracing of her prize.]

Yeah, they definitely are; this event was uh, actually pretty fun all around.

[Even though he lost, the paintball itself was fun and now there's food. What's not to like?]

Paintball -- around the town

[ Curufin stalks the city with DEATH IN HIS EYES. (No, just kidding. He just looks determined, not murderous.) He is remembering the years of scouting the plain of Ard-galen, spying on Orc-encampments or small roving bands of those bestial soldiers of Morgoth, the Dark Enemy of the World. Ambushing them alone, or leading them into narrow valleys where his troops or his brothers' troops could slaughter them. Trying not to get slaughtered himself. (And usually succeeding!)

BUT NOW HE HAS A PAINTBALL GUN IN HIS HAND. He's going for some payback. If anybody approaches him, he dodges, darts, and shoots. He has a grin on his face that lights up the dark. ]

The 29th -- that fateful day

[ He gets nailed, wouldn't you know it! Big Elvish guerilla fighter, fierce and indomitable! Bah! (The shooter is unknown at the moment of this writing. Volunteers welcome!) ]


Party in the Colosseum

[ Well, at least he gets his cool 1911 Colt revolver. And he does like parties with drinking and dancing. He makes his way through the crowd, looking for people to drink, dance, or converse with. He's got a bottle in his hand and a smile on his face. ]

29th

[Big Elvish fighters make big targets, Curufin...

Law's not exactly enjoying the sport but he's determined, and he's got haki on his side. Winning is so much easier when you can sense where people are. But rather than snipe, he prefers to face them one on one, so here he is, tall dark and hostile stepping out from behind a building, his nodachi tied across his back and gun in hand.]

Dr. Lance Sweets | OTA

[Lance is, honestly, pretty pleased with himself.

Already competitive to a fault at times, he wouldn't have needed the extra push to take part in the event, although it did help in overriding the concern brought on by the losers of the game seemingly going comatose; that part would've definitely deterred him otherwise, naturally competitive or not.

But now that it's turned out everyone is fine, and he's one of the winners, Lance is inwardly quite pleased with how this entire thing had gone. No one actually got hurt, he made it to the end, and he got a really nice prize and a slightly ridiculous looking trophy. Also there's food at this party, which is just an additional bonus.

So he's found a corner to set up in, removed from the busiest part of the arena but not completely isolated, most of his attention focused on the slightly ridiculous assortment of foods he's balanced on his plate. This is way easier than last time, at the banquet not long after he arrived, considering he's now healed by Brennan's use of Hope's blessing; he can much more easily balance the plate now that he doesn't have to worry about a bunch of broken bones.

Although someone else might break a bone if they're not paying careful attention, since his trophy is kind of a hazard where it's laying a few feet from him on the ground. He may or may not have accidentally kicked it and then not bothered to retrieve it yet; the food is way more interesting, after all.]

[64th]

[ Cashmere feels proud to have made it all the way to the end, even if it is just paintball. it's still a game, even it's not the Games. her competitiveness had kicked in and there was no way she wasn't going to make it to the end.

winning is less rewarding that she thought it would be, and Cashmere feels sort of listless. she wanders away from where most of the activity is happening, finding Lance keeping to himself (unless you count all the food). ]

Hey. [ she nods the the trophy on the ground. ] Congratulations? [ she's got a plate of food too, her gun safely stashed and using her own trophy as a cup. ]

Rhy Maresh | OTA

[a: paintball, 26th & before]

[Rhy sneaks through the streets, paintball gun in hand. Sneaking is, perhaps, not his usual approach - but in this case it seems like the best one. He's figured out the paintball gun, and he's not terrible with it, but running straight out in the open would be simply foolish even so. It's a simple game, one without blood, and Rhy is actually enjoying the competition.

He peers around a corner and catches sight of someone. Just out of range - he'll need to get closer. Sneaking down an alleyway first, and then behind a shop, he's nearly there.

Until he turns a corner and runs straight into someone else.]

[Now this is something Rhy knows how to handle. Paintball battle royales are one thing. Parties? Something entirely different. He circulates with a smile and a friendly and open nature, greeting anyone he doesn't know, trying new things at the tables of food, and getting pleasantly drunk, all done in style with his nice new leather jacket. He can even be seen on the dance floor now and then, if he can find a partner, though his style of dance is less club kid and more ballroom.

He's got a glass in his hand now, something that looks like red wine, and a smile on his face as he turns to whoever's near him.]

Playthings of the gods we might be, but they do seem to know how to show us a good time.

[There are a lot of interesting things about this place - a few good, a lot bad - but the most interesting to Rhy is all of this mysterious technology. The phone was one thing, incredibly and seemingly magical despite assurances that it's not, but the jukebox? That's something else.

He's peering into it, watching the bits and pieces move as buttons are pressed, not bothering to hide his interest or his delight as the music spills forth.]

[Carey finds her gun whilst dumpster diving. What a shock! Of course, she has no clue what it is when she picks it up. It's shiny and interesting and that's why she picks it out—and the attached note almost makes it seem like this gun was meant for her. "Be the last one standing." It's... ominous, but she doesn't really care. It's still cool.

She's seen weapons that shoot before, so as soon as she finds the trigger it becomes a walk in the park. When she realizes it's paint that comes out, she's fucking ecstatic. Obviously she has to show her bestie. She shoots Magnus a text.]

[Carey had to find out the hard way how dangerous these guns are. She'd spent quite a bit of time crying in her apartment before necessity forced her outside again. Now she finds herself sneaking around the shops, trying to gather up some food, with the intent of going straight back home after.

A noise in an aisle over forces Carey to grip her gun in defense. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, but damn it, if they try anything, she will.

She calls over to whoever might be in the shop with her:] I won't shoot if you don't shoot. I just want somethin' to eat.

iii. OTA

[OOC: If anyone wants to plot with me, whether you want me to take you down, have a no-shots standoff, or a chill hang at the party, hit me up! aldigrocery ]

[Magnus, meanwhile, woke up with his gun pressing an angry red imprint into his face that is still there when he texts back, still sort of blinking blearily at his phone's screen. The notification woke him up, but it's about time he got up anyway.

And it looks like he's found out what the next god-hosted event is. Some kind of fucking battle royale. Great. He's very not into it, as he's assuming at this point that the guns are the regular kind, which he's much more familiar with now that he's got a whole host of memories of other worlds at this point.

Anyway, Carey seems extremely excited about something, which means Magnus is excited.]

[Frankly, Taako should probably realize by now that, while he's pretty damn good at resisting the artificial emotion induced by most of the gods, Rage knows exactly how to kick his whole ass. Unfortunately, that's not the case for everyone up against him right now, because he sees competition and intends to fuckin' win it. He's got a very limited repertoire with guns, but a great one with magic, and there seems to be nothing in the rules against that. So it's time for him to bring out his favorite trick in the book.

If you're personally very unlucky, you might round a corner and find yourself stepping into less floor and more a 20 foot cube of squirming, angry tentacles, that as soon as they feel another presence will be grabbing at every inch and rendering someone immobile very quickly. Taako, himself, will come out of hiding as soon as they seem restrained, laughing and wiping a tear from his eye.]

Through the help of his sister and the living members of his party, Taako has managed to avoid the paint-splattering of a lifetime, and he is living it up at top speed. Despite using the vast majority of his spell slots just living throughout the week, he's still got cantrips, which means that just about everything he does at this party literally sparkles, because he's sure out here doin' it.

He's stepping back for just a minute to grab another drink, holding at the snack table in-between songs but looking absolutely elated. Feel free to ask him to dance, join him for a drink, or fine him on the dance floor kickin' it hard.]

[ Against all odds, Malkus made it! As far as one day before splatting himself in the cheek, trying to see how exactly this thing was supposed to work. It was no surprise to anyone, but at least the doctor was able to catch up on some rest before appearing at the party. A party which had a mildly unsettling element to the man. He aimed to enjoy himself, sure, for... the first day or so. But there was always the underlying feeling of distrust thanks to the parasites and their games. ]

Early Party

[ Malkus wasn't one for these kinds of gatherings, but the general mood brought him out of his shell. It was contagious. The doctor could mainly be found by the food, endlessly eating, or by the drinks... endlessly drinking.

The latter may become a problem as he eventually felt his grip on sobriety loosen and soon he's completely fallen into a drunken incoherence. ]

I'll tell you something. Listen- shhh- listen listen. Hey!

[ Malkus stumbled out of his seat, kicking it over in his bid to gather his target's attention. He tried to reach for the nearest party-goer to tug their arm. ]

That's the thing....

[ He'd lean in for a loud, slurred whisper if you're willing to hear him out. Maybe he's got some important nugget of wisdom? ]

[ The party had carried on enough to wear out all novelty now. The peace only served to remind Malkus of what he would lose when another event started back up. So, wasting no time here, the doctor had gone to work in a far corner of the coliseum with a stack of napkins and a pencil he'd taken from one of the games.

He's very secretive, so anybody approaching will be treated to the sight of Malkus scrambling to flip the papers to a pre-drawn image of a cat on what he would imagine a boat to look like. Malkus-quality of course, so please feel free to misinterpret the picture. ]

[Delmar, despite all outward appearances and wide-eyed naiveté, is surprisingly skilled with a gun and has a strong need to endure and survive. Having spent years in the European campaign during the war, Delmar lived with a gun as his extra limb longer than he would have ever wanted to but more than long enough to feel at ease using one. He will not actively pursue anyone, taking a live and let live approach as best he can despite the circumstances, but if he feels he is in danger he will not hesitate to shoot and his aim will be accurate.]

II. Party

[Well, it's a useful prize in a cave full of monsters... or at least that is what Delmar is trying to tell himself in a bid to be positive about it. He doesn't want to be ungrateful, he was given a present after all and guns certainly are expensive and rare in a place like this, but oh how he would have liked one of those teddy bears or flower pots instead. They seemed quite lovely.

Delmar turns the gun a moment or two more in his hands before tucking it into his satchel and turning his attention to a modest plate of pork chop and applesauce - a classic comfort food meal. His favorite. While he feels no pride or triumph in having survived to the last day, he certainly feels gratitude for familiar food. His eyes even shine a bit as he realizes just how much he missed eating things that he recognizes.

He will do his best to greet people with his shy but chipper 'hello' but of course not if he has a mouth full of food, that would be very rude.]

At least this party's in the coliseum, though, which gives everyone plenty of room to spread out. He's gonna spend the whole party hanging around on the outskirts with his teddy bear and snacking on stuff. He's grumpy about losing so pathetically and being stuck at this dumb party, but he's pretty jazzed about the beer and pizza...]

[Hayden has been doing smashingly! Which is to say, he's been doing a really good job of running away from people shooting him after he completely wiped out his own teammate on the first day. Unfortunately, his luck changes on the 27th. He's sneaking around when suddenly he trips over his own feet, landing facefirst on the pavement and whining in discomfort. In the fall, his paintball gun skids out of reach.]

[The first day of this even is a roller coaster for Irisviel if there ever was one. Early in the morning, the spirit of competition gets her going, and her first two "kills" of the event will take place before she can even leave the apartment building. This is the only part of the event where she'll be more flighty than normal, vacillating between devastation that she shot her best friend in cold blood and the growing awareness that she could win this.

That doesn't stop her from bursting out of the complex at full speed after Saber and Oscar are both down, however, gun literally blazing as she sprays the area in front of her with paintballs with her best estimation of a battle cry (it's a very bad one) before darting off to seek cover.]

b. september 24th-26th;

[Well, now she's a woman on a revenge mission. All uncertainty? Totally eradicated. If only she had any of the following: a leather jacket, sunglasses, moto boots, black nail polish...yes, any of those would make her look like a real gun hero, like the ones she'd seen in movies.

Instead, the final few days of competition find Irisviel acting like a badass gunslinger in her best blouse and wool skirt, tights ripped from repeated crouching, hiding, and diving. Sometimes she swears she can smell cigarette smoke on the air, and that's the only thing that makes her pause in her singular task of hunting down Kate to get her back for Henry's untimely defeat. Or just to get one step closer to winning the whole affair. Revenge is like winning, right? Revenge is like winning.

Who has information? Hopefully you, because she just kicked open the door of her hiding spot at near point blank range.] Where is she? [She demands, without further context.

[The sting of defeat is tempered very quickly by the relief that everyone is better again. She should be at least a little used to it by now, Iri reasons; they seem to heal more easily here, to their blessing.

She can be found in a few different places during the party: engaged in eternal Twister hell against Saber(please save her), putting just one of every food item on her plate until the entire thing is piled, and showing off her sweet, sweet wolf kigurumi. It's so soft!]

[Kain is no gunman, but the moment he picks one up, he's suddenly very eager to use it. How hard can this be? He's seen enough from others who come from worlds having them... he'll just have to try his best with it now.]

Aside from that, he's also quick, good at evading and appearing out of nowhere for surprise attacks from above, using his jumping powers. He spends his time hunting down potential targets, using buildings for cover whenever needed. Right now, he's taken a high vantage point on a rooftop, unleashing paintballs toward the first unsuspecting target he sees.]

2. 26th; closed to Yukari

[Kain has been doing well so far. He's even getting better at using the gun, getting used to how it works. But all things must come to an end. As he's doing his usual evasive sneaking around buildings, he realizes that he's not alone... Someone else is stalking him.]

[He didn't win. Kain is, of course, disappointed by this fact. His competitive side had especially surfaced during the course of the event, and now... he's a little disappointed that it's over. He'd been hoping to have a chance to go back out and try again, though there'd been no way to leave after they'd revived here.]

[Still, for once, he's not in armor, having changed clothing to sport his new dark blue leather jacket that he'd won as a prize. He hangs back from being too celebratory for the most part, but he still has a drink in hand, quietly observing others enjoying themselves.]

But at the edge of the party stood a solitary figure, observing but not participating. Aloof; a quality that 9S had very much admired in someone else.

〈9S was getting accustomed to waking up in unfamiliar places. It made for a nice change to find himself back in the Colosseum - at least he knew the layout of this place. He was also pleasantly surprised to find that it was now filled with the buzz of people rather than insects. Maybe he could meet someone face-to-face and hold a real conversation.

But he didn't know how to do it. He loitered by one of the overflowing buffet tables, trying to think of how to initiate conversation when all too quickly the person he tried to approach strolled off laughing. Most people here had consumed at least a third of their daily intake in booze and rich nibbles.

[If there's anything demigods are good at, it's competitions like this. And you know what else helps? An invisibility cap. So things like shooting at people from cover suddenly become really easy. At least Annabeth got to keep it when she showed up. This is probably the most use she's gotten out of it in a long time. And for something as ridiculous as paintball.

Of course, knowing how the place works, it's probably like Super Deadly Death Paintball. Makes dodging other peoples' shots a little more urgent. Helps too, when someone aims toward a sound or if she misses and they shoot back at where she was.

Practice, and all that. And she's never been that fond of guns.]


II. Party
[Oh, it's over? She was having fun. At least somebody seems to have known that and put a party at the end. Even if she's just slightly uncomfortable and standing off to one side, watching the rest of the guests and trying to figure out what exactly she's supposed to do. It's not like she's never been

[Nothing is not good at competitions or sporting events in general. He was the type of kid who'd hide a book behind his baseball glove if he bothered to show up to P.E., the type of kid who had no interest in seeing how he measured up against others.

This time was different, although he didn't really understand why. From the moment he'd picked the gun up he'd wanted to use it and the idea of stopping seemed unthinkable. He was fast and he was quiet, which served him well. It was the outshooting people that was an issue and so he's taken to finding high ground or a good hiding place and doing his best to snipe the players going by. In other words: camping.

The area Annabeth was in sure looked deserted, and Nothing wandered through it gun propped against his shoulder as he scanned the horizon looking for a good spot.]

Angus McDonald / ota!

Paintball!
[ Angus wakes up to a paintball gun sitting on his pillow like a Candlenights present, and over the course of the next week, two things become very apparent:

1) Angus, while as polite and well-mannered as ever, has a competitive streak that rivals his adult coworkers (especially when that competitive streak is fueled by the gods).

2) Back home, Angus had a reputation as the World's Greatest Detective, and a legit career to back it up. He solved murder mysteries for a living and did consultation work for local militias, he even had experience participating in SWAT teams. He knows how to use ranged weaponry, how to sneak up on people, and how to quickly adapt to new situations.

Suffice to say, Angus McDonald, Boy Detective is a great shot, and he's really friggin' good at paintball. He's mostly acting as a sniper, casting Silence on himself and staying close to Lup and Taako as their secret weapon (an alliance had been formed early on!), but every now and then, he'll duck out by himself to raid one of the shops for supplies. He won't start anything with anyone who approaches him (and may even play up the 'I'm-just-a-little-boy' routine if it'll get him out of a scrape), but he won't stick around to get shot at, either! ]


Party!
[ Angus isn't much of a party animal. Surviving his first 'event' here was certainly worth celebrating, and he's glad that everybody's okay, but he wasn't expecting to win an actual gun at the end of this, WHAT THE HECK. Over the course of the night, he can be found either surreptitiously trying to find a garbage can to drop his prize into (and looking extremely guilty and nervous while he searches), or hanging out by the snack table, watching the rest of the party while munching down on some pretzels.

Much later, he can be found resting in one of the side rooms, because holy hell he is eleven years old and this is definitely past his self-enforced bedtime. ]

[It's pure coincidence that he ends up frequenting the same areas as the twins, really. Pure coincidence that he seems to aim his fire at the same parties they do, and end up involved in all of the same scuffles. Definitely.

It is a very, very deliberate choice that he stays at all times behind cover at an exact angle that protects him from Lup. No, he will not come any closer. No, nothing can convince him it's safe over there. He'll say here, in the shadows, like a creep, thank you very much.]

26-29th | open: party time!

[Everything happened very fast, and Kravitz wakes up a little dizzy and confused on the 26th. Being surrounded by food and presented with an adorable little pot of purple irises does nothing to change this.

He sorts himself out quickly enough though, and spends much of the party enjoying the spread, hovering over the food tables like a particularly handsome vulture. Kravitz doesn't need to eat, not at all, but he's a big fan of it all the same. He keeps an eye for familiar faces as they show up, and can also be found skulking around the edges of the party. What a loser.]
