Event Log: Party Royale

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Party Royale event
Where: All over the city!
When: September 22nd-29th
Warnings: Paintball, loss of consciousness, and partying!

As is par for the course in Hadriel, at some point throughout the day- waking up, making breakfast, doing laundry- you find an item. This isn't just any item though, it's a tried and true paintball gun, shining and just waiting to be picked up. This gun never runs out of ammunition, never malfunctions, and almost always hits the target that you're aiming at, so say hello to your new best friend for the next week.

Touching or picking up the gun will fill you with a competitive surge, which will likely increase when you find the note that's left with it, saying nothing more than be the last one standing. With instructions like that, how could you lose?

Well, you could lose if someone else shoots you. But never fear, there's a plan for that too! Even if you embrace the throes of unconsciousness, the gods have got your back and will eventually teleport you into a grand party where prizes will be handed out based on how long you survived. Awesome! At this party is also the traditional copious amounts of food and drink, as well as everyone's favorite goddess Delight and everyone's slightly-less-favorite goddess Rage!

I'm not a fan of parties, especially the kind I get kidnapped into attending. This is a kidnapping within a kidnapping. It's stupid.

[Harlan wishes he got a kigurumi tbh (no he doesn't). He wiggles his bear at Chris.]

Plus I didn't even get to play.

...Okay, yeah, fair enough. When you put it that way it's kind of ridiculous.

[He isn't the biggest fan of parties either, at least not anymore, but this particular party has been okay so far; still, being kidnapped from a kidnapping to attend a party really is stupid when put that way.

Chris can't help but grin a little at the teddy bear.]

Sorry, that sucks. Although uh, I mean, at least you could've gotten something a lot worse?

[Like more hideous furniture.]

It's whatever. Probably for the best considering the paintballs knocked us out.

[He'll never not be bitter, but he did avoid a lot of bullshit, probably. Like, apparently he was just unconscious for a couple days? Freaky.

He looks down at his bear.]

I don't know about that. This bear is pretty stupid. I'd rather have gotten the booze or the candy. Fuck, I'd take the stupid pajamas over this.

[He would've been a raccoon and it would've been great??]

What'd you get?

Yeah, I mean, I guess there's not a lot you can do with the bear. But at least it's not like, stinging nettles? Or some sort of freaky furniture like a few weeks ago.

[That was weird, okay; not only was the furniture weird, but it was weird that the event was actually so mundane. Just weird.]

I uh, got the really stupid weeb pajamas, but they're actually pretty nice and warm so I'm totally not complaining.

[Harlan cocks an eyebrow. Stinging nettles is so specific??] The freaky furniture was interesting, at least. Got an unsettling chair out of it. It's been keeping my cat busy.

[And not for the first time since he's been stuck here, he briefly panics about what's happened to JF since he's been stuck here. Hayden's probably taking care of her, right...? God, who is he kidding? Hayden can barely feed himself. Oh god. He will have a serious bone to pick with the gods if his cat starves to death because of a stupid paintball war.

BUT SHE'S PROBABLY FINE...]

Oh, shit, those are fun. [He wouldn't be caught dead in said weeb PJs, but still.] What animal did you get?

{Hey, he wouldn't put it past the gods to give out stinging nettles as prize; useful if you try really hard, but mostly just annoying.]

I got a really ugly beanbag myself, but uh, more importantly, you have a cat?

[Cats are great. And don't worry, surely she's fine!]

Mine are uh, a sloth. I can't quite decide if I should be wearing them ironically or totally like, fittingly.

[Trying hard is for chumps.]

Yeah, a kitten. She came here with me. [Somehow???] She's a nightmare but I love her.

[He laughs at the sloth thing.] Both. You think the gods picked that one out special for you? Or was the animal choice random?

[He grins a little at that.]

Isn't that like, a kitten's job? To be a nightmare?

[An adorable, fuzzy, lovable nightmare. And he laughs too, giving a dramatic shrug and shaking his head.]

You know, I uh... I'm not totally sure. I mean like, the gods I can see making the joke of giving me any sort of specific animal aren't exactly the ones I know the best, so I'm gonna go with guessing it was just a great coincidence.

[Although hey, maybe it was on purpose after all; either way, Chris finds it hilarious.]

[He snorts.] Fair enough. I've always thought she was particularly terrible, but what the fuck do I know about cats? Maybe it's par for the course.

[If it's her job, she deserves a raise. Ten raises. She's the CEO of Nightmare, Inc.]

What gods do you know best?

That's uh, also totally possible. I don't know anything about cats either.

[At least she's cute, right? That goes a long way.]

Hope's uh, the one I know the best, but I've also talked to Fear and Delight a lot and I uh, like to think I'm on pretty good terms with them. Tranquility's cool too, even though I've only spoken to him a few times.

[Hm. Good to know. He'll keep all of this in mind.]

I've only talked to Hope the once, back when he made that post about interrogations. He seemed like a decent enough guy. What's your take on him and Fear? They're the big two, right?

Yeah, they've uh, been here the longest; I arrived like, the second month that anyone showed up in this place, and it was just them at the time.

[As for about each of them specifically--]

Hope comes off as kind of a jerk but he genuinely like, wants the best for us. If you're chill toward him he's usually pretty open to answering questions and making deals and that sort of thing, and you don't really have to worry about him screwing you over first chance he gets or something.

[Which is something that might be a concern with some of the other gods, like Confusion.]

As for Fear, uh, this is gonna sound crazy, but he's kind of a dweeb. Also, even though the does some of the most messed up shit event-wise, there's like... Pretty much no malice in it, and as long as you're not a total asshole when you're talking to him he's also usually pretty good about questions and whatever.

Christ. That's a long fucking time. [This information sounds familiar, though. He's pretty sure Chris mentioned how long he'd been here the first time they talked, but now Harlan's had more time to conceptualize what that means. Man.]

Good to know about Hope. That's the vibe I got from him too, but we just talked over the network. [And Harlan's way better at reading people face to face.] And that doesn't sound crazy. From what I can tell, the gods are more like people than supernatural deities. That's good news for us, in my experience.

[No malice when it comes to events, on the other hand, could go either way. On one hand, it's good news that Fear isn't actively trying to fuck everyone over just for the hell of it. On the other, if he's just doing what he has to to collect energy or whatever, that could be a dangerous mindset

But, still, of the options, Harlan prefers that they're more like people than embodiments of their names.]

Should I worry about other gods trying to screw me over?

Yeah, it's uh, definitely been awhile, though I disappeared for like a month or two at some point apparently? It didn't feel like any time passed for me though, which was double weird.

[But you know. Hadriel life.]

Yeah, that's a good way to look at them; they're just people, like any of the rest of us. Some of them are kind of jerks, some are chill, most are in the middle. But um, just like people, they get scared, and that's usually the reason behind whatever shit they're pulling.

[As for the last question--]

I'd um, be careful dealing with Fear, but mostly just because of what he might want. Confusion will probably screw you over just for the fun of it. Rage keeps her deals, but they've usually got some sort of catch if you're not like... Super careful; she isn't purposefully fucking with you, but she's not making sure not to fuck with you.

Hope, Delight, and Tranquility are great to make deals with, though. I've heard Sorrow's not bad either.
