Event Log: Party Royale

What: The event log for the Party Royale event
Where: All over the city!
When: September 22nd-29th
Warnings: Paintball, loss of consciousness, and partying!

As is par for the course in Hadriel, at some point throughout the day- waking up, making breakfast, doing laundry- you find an item. This isn't just any item though, it's a tried and true paintball gun, shining and just waiting to be picked up. This gun never runs out of ammunition, never malfunctions, and almost always hits the target that you're aiming at, so say hello to your new best friend for the next week.

Touching or picking up the gun will fill you with a competitive surge, which will likely increase when you find the note that's left with it, saying nothing more than be the last one standing. With instructions like that, how could you lose?

Well, you could lose if someone else shoots you. But never fear, there's a plan for that too! Even if you embrace the throes of unconsciousness, the gods have got your back and will eventually teleport you into a grand party where prizes will be handed out based on how long you survived. Awesome! At this party is also the traditional copious amounts of food and drink, as well as everyone's favorite goddess Delight and everyone's slightly-less-favorite goddess Rage!

She lifts her eyebrows slightly, amused more than anything else as she curls their fingers around his ear. "Well, unless someone is going around and leaving rogue toothbrushes in strangers' bathrooms..."

It's kinda hard to follow a conversation when she's playing with his ear. But at least he knows what she's talking about now. "Oh. Ephemera crashed here during the fire. I didn't think you'd mind."

Well, she's not playing with it on purpose, at least. It's just sort of there, near where she'd decided to rest her hand. "I don't. Just let me know beforehand next time? A girl could get jealous, you know." Another kiss, then, just because he's close, and it feels silly not to. "And you really don't have to come with me, Drake."

[braveoff]

Drake quirks an eyebrow. "Jealous, huh? I can't imagine you that way." He lets this kiss linger, his other hand settling on her knee, smoothing his thumb over the fabric. "And yes, I do. Or I'll sit here worrying for as long as it takes."

"You didn't see the way I was pulling my hair out when I was trying to figure out if you were giving me the runaround or not," she says, momentarily unwilling to move. She takes a breath, then, before gently untangling her hand from his and standing up. "And if you're dead-set on it, then come on. You never realize how hungry you are until you don't have any groceries in the house."

[braveoff]

"Well, you played it really cool around me. I never meant to, though, I just couldn't tell you everything." He hesitates on the couch, considering reaching for her again, telling her everything now. It never seems like the right time. "They wanted me to break up with you, you know."

"Mr. Boss? Or Blaine?" Liv asks as she leans down to put on her shoes. She's typically a sharp cookie, but in her defense: Drake had been working with a lot of people.

[braveoff]

"The cops, actually." He watches her, not moving to put on his boots yet. "They said I was risking the whole operation."

She hesitates, then, lacing up her sneakers as she glances his way. "And you didn't break up with me?"

[evocation]

God, right? I covered all the shit in my apartment like I was in some cheesy horror movie or something. That shit sucked.

[braveoff]

"No, I told them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine." His mouth curves up a little, but it's not a happy expression. "For all the good it did us."

She can tell that there's not something altogether happy about the curve of his lip, but that's not what she focuses on immediately. "You told the police to shove it. Over a girl. Boy, I bet they were mad at you." Because, privately (or not so privately?) It feels - really good, to be prioritized like that. Selfish, for sure. But nice.

[braveoff]

"They were pretty pissed off, yeah." He reaches for Liv's hand again, really not wanting them to go out there. "I wasn't going to lose you."

So did I. Had to cover all the shit at the clinic, too. But at least this has drinks. [lifts a shot glass of whiskey in salute, then takes the shot]

[Huh. That's a level of awareness Harlan wasn't expecting from Law.]

No, you're right. I missed the panic of it, obviously, but that sounds like some scary shit. I don't get the bragging.

[...] Did you shoot anyone?

[Lance nods, ready to ask him if he knows the basics and just needs some practice aiming or if he'd like to go over things more comprehensively, when Adam makes that comment about bullets. His eyebrows furrow, immediately curious--and a bit concerned considering the only way he knows of getting bullets involves hunting monster--but it's clear Adam doesn't want to be questioned about it.

Despite his curiosity, Lance would be willing to just say okay and let Adam get away without explaining, but there's one thing he has to make sure of before he moves onto talking about chocolate.]

I would appreciate that, and I won't ask how provided it's not something that required you to put yourself in danger in any way.

[And okay, that said, they can totally discuss the much more important topic--]

[He raises his eyebrows slightly at that, good-naturedly incredulous.]

Well, duh. But they rather easy. Would you want me to explain?

Delight, I guess. It sounds like this is a "welcome back" party for her and Rage. The rest of the event checks out with that.

[This sucks, but he'll take it over the mirror bullshit any day...

He follows her pointing with his eyes. Target acquired.]

Shit. I didn't see those earlier. [He looks down at the beer in his hand. Next time.] The party sucks, but I'm glad there's alcohol. Makes this more palatable.

Oh. Right. [Duh, Harlan.] Well, I'm fine. Take up any complaints with Hayden. He's the one that shot me.

Hayden did? Seriously?

[She frowns at him incredulously.]

That kid tried to eat his phone the first time I met him.

[side-eyeing him real hard for a moment. But, hey, what's the harm in answering?]

Yeah. Earlier today.

Yeah, I mean, I guess there's not a lot you can do with the bear. But at least it's not like, stinging nettles? Or some sort of freaky furniture like a few weeks ago.

[That was weird, okay; not only was the furniture weird, but it was weird that the event was actually so mundane. Just weird.]

I uh, got the really stupid weeb pajamas, but they're actually pretty nice and warm so I'm totally not complaining.

A bear would be pretty cool, but nah, I'm not insulted. I mean uh, even if the gods didn't just pick randomly, I'm pretty sure most of them like me enough not to bother insulting me through pajamas.

[He is so lame, but that makes Delmar's appreciation for him that much more endearing. Harlan drops it. And anyway, he's laughing about this Harlan Jr. thing. Oh boy.]

Sure, if you insist. I guess Harley's kind of cute. [A reality where this bear gets talked about in a way that might lead to name confusion is baffling but so very Delmar. You do you, bud.]

Oh, shit, seriously? [He brightens.] Thanks, man. I was, uh... Well, Hayden can barely feed himself. I was worried. She wasn't too much trouble, was she?
