Intro Log: Faceplanted

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for October
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-14th
Warnings: Newbies, spookies, and evil trees!

If it's your first time here, congratulations! You get the lovely, unique sensation of eating dirt as the Door knocks you facefirst into the ground. You'll probably be a little woozy at first, so take your time getting up- meet some folks, introduce yourself, don't be weird about it. Welcome to Hadriel! You're not the only person who just got to taste alien dirt firsthand, though- there are several people in the same predicament as you, so feel free to say hi! Probably shouldn't spend too much time talking though, because the lovely trees that you thought were just scenery are starting to creep ever closer the more you let your guard down.

All around you is a forest of spooky evil trees- it seems to be just a normal sort of forest at first, but the more you take your eyes off of them, the more they shift around you and close in. Or is that just your imagination? If you move too close to one, look out! They're rather determined to pick you up and stick you into the ground so you might take root- and if you resist, well, a severed bud can still serve as a seed, right?

If the trees tear your clothes though, don't worry, there's plenty of extras to be found lying around the arena if you don't mind them being a bit dirty. Lying on the ground and sometimes hanging off of these tree branches are some free shirts, yours for the taking! You know, if you'd be caught dead with one...

But hey, after you've met new friends and found a new aesthetic, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

You're cheating.

[But she takes a drink again.]

Never have I ever, um...

[Now comes the sudden realization that she knows almost nothing about him.]

Gotten shot?

[hardwearing]

...I'd get alcohol poisoning if I drank for every time that happened.

[evocation]

Just drink once for all of them. I'll give you a pass because I'm nice.

[hardwearing]

[ He'll take that out. And consider her for a moment. ]

Never have I ever had a... girlfriend?

[evocation]

Wait, what? Bullshit. Seriously?

[hardwearing]

Truth.

[ C'mon, are you gonna drink? ]

[evocation]

[She drinks!]

What about a boyfriend?

[hardwearing]

[ Wash considers that one... he came a bit closer there, but nope. Shaking his head. ]

[evocation]

Seriously? How come? And I'm not drinking for the boyfriend thing. It's not my turn so it doesn't count.

[hardwearing]

What do you mean, how come?

[evocation]

Did you just not want to or you never had time or what?

[hardwearing]

[ That takes a moment's consideration. ]

I was never popular. Never good at people, definitely never anyone's choice for anything besides a joke. And then things got... complicated, besides just being in a war. I mean, everybody I've ever been with is dead.

[evocation]

Oh.

[Ouch.]

I'm sorry. I mean, um, I've never been great with people either, I guess. At like... Talking about how I feel or whatever. People get kind of... Sick of my shit or whatever, you know?

[So she gets that part, at least, except now she feels awkward. Oops.]

[hardwearing]

I. Might be getting better at it? But we're in the middle of a war yet again so.

[ He waves the hand not holding alcohol. It is what it is. ]

[evocation]

Yeah, it's... kind of hard, right?

[She reaches her upper limit of awkwardness and wiggles backward to press her back into the couch cushions.]

Um, whose turn is it?

[hardwearing]

[ Wash just nods, swirling the liquid in his glass. He's definitely feeling looser but not uncoordinated yet -- probably at the point where he should ease up on the drinking. ]

...not sure. Yours, I think.

[evocation]

Never have I ever, uh... Gotten so drunk I blacked out.

[hardwearing]

[ ... Wash drinks. ]

I feel like drinking for that one is ironic.

Never have I ever seen a horse.

[evocation]

[Annnd she drinks.]

You're lucky. Horses suck. Never have I ever worn a crazy suit of space armor.

[hardwearing]

What do you mean horses suck?

[ He drinks, holding up his empty hand and flexing his fingers. Watching the armor plates shift. ]

If it'd fit you, I'd let you try it. You might like it.

[evocation]

[She's definitely starting to feel all of that alcohol. This is going to be bad.]

Uh... I had to ride one once for a job and I totally fell off. And I'd try it on if you weren't like three feet taller than me.

[hardwearing]

I'm like a foot taller than you -- the armor adds a little.

[ Speaking of... Wash sets his glass down on the coffee table and (a bit hesitantly) starts taking off his weapons so he can get out of his armor. He's crashing here, right? Something tells him Kyna won't let him sleep in it. ]

[evocation]

That's what I said.

[She grins when he starts taking the armor off.]

Oh, hey, I thought I'd have to bully you out of it or something. Can I see part of it?

[hardwearing]

And I figured you would... so I'm just gonna cave ahead of time before I get too drunk to work the clasps.

[ He didn't actually intend on drinking this much, and being both uncoordinated and out of armor is a no good very bad terrible plan but.

Fuck it.

Her question just gets a shrug in response. It's not much to look at, just holding a single piece. Wash passes a gauntlet over and it's very heavy, padded a little on the inside. ]

[evocation]

[She turns it over in her hands, humming thoughtfully.]

It is pretty cool. Is it heavy?
