Intro Log: Faceplanted

What: The intro log for October
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-14th
Warnings: Newbies, spookies, and evil trees!

If it's your first time here, congratulations! You get the lovely, unique sensation of eating dirt as the Door knocks you facefirst into the ground. You'll probably be a little woozy at first, so take your time getting up- meet some folks, introduce yourself, don't be weird about it. Welcome to Hadriel! You're not the only person who just got to taste alien dirt firsthand, though- there are several people in the same predicament as you, so feel free to say hi! Probably shouldn't spend too much time talking though, because the lovely trees that you thought were just scenery are starting to creep ever closer the more you let your guard down.

All around you is a forest of spooky evil trees- it seems to be just a normal sort of forest at first, but the more you take your eyes off of them, the more they shift around you and close in. Or is that just your imagination? If you move too close to one, look out! They're rather determined to pick you up and stick you into the ground so you might take root- and if you resist, well, a severed bud can still serve as a seed, right?

If the trees tear your clothes though, don't worry, there's plenty of extras to be found lying around the arena if you don't mind them being a bit dirty. Lying on the ground and sometimes hanging off of these tree branches are some free shirts, yours for the taking! You know, if you'd be caught dead with one...

But hey, after you've met new friends and found a new aesthetic, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Honestly? I don't. I think he's completely insane and would happily kill me over and over again as many times as the gods here would resurrect me. But.

[ He stares down into his glass, remembering. ]

There are people here who believe in him. So I'll keep trying.

[ He doesn't elaborate, just swirls the liquid in his glass. ]

We'll see. He does seem to have plenty of friends here.

Well. I'll be your friend? And I bet other people will, too.

It didn't take, he just gave us a speech about how he'd never stop trying to kill us. And there was no fucking time to deal with that or all four of us were going to die, so I killed him.

[ There's no particular emotion in Wash's voice. He'd done what he had to do. It hadn't been personal. ]

But here, there's time.

Sometimes. . . sometimes, that's all you can do.

Bad things happen to the people I care about. And to me. It's not a good time, and I've got nothing to offer you. That's the best case. Worse, Sharkface comes after you too.

Well, the worst case isn't gonna work with me because [takes a breath] I'm already dead. And who said you had to offer me anything?

[ Wash raises an eyebrow. And then he reaches out with a still-armored hand, pinching her arm. Pretty hard. ]

Just proving a point.You might be dead at home but here you can be hurt.

I'm dead no matter where I go. That's part of what being a Reaper is.

And maybe I can get hurt, but it still gets better. See? [holds up her arm where the bruise has already faded completely]

Just because it gets better doesn't mean it's okay if it happens in the first place.

Well, no. Some people here are too fucking touchy, they go for violent shit when just talking it out woulda fixed things.

No amount of talking is going to fix us. I'm just worried he might go after people because they're associated with me... so we can't be friends, George.

[toiletseat_girl]

[feels oddly hurt, but can't say why]

...fine. Can we at least be casual acquaintances?

[hardwearing]

[ Wash shrugs, awkward. She probably won't be tortured for that, though. ]

Sure. That's probably safe.

[toiletseat_girl]

Fine. Then your casual acquaintance could use another drink.

[she pours herself another drink]

You need a refil?

[hardwearing]

One more.

[ Then he should probably cut himself off. ]

...look, if you ever see someone in armor like mine, just. Stay away.

Okay. [she pours him a drink]

I'll try. It's a pretty small cave.

It's big enough, if you don't already know him.

Then, you just carve out a place of your own. And I'll bet that even some of those who do know this other guy won't be so quick to judge. That's a good thing about this place, people aren't so judge-y.

--what the fuck, someone set you on fire?! Are you okay, do you need to go to the clinic? Or I could help, I work at the clinic and know what to do about burns.

I went straight to the clinic after it happened, this kid Will healed me. I'm fine now. But that doesn't change that it happened.
