If it's your first time here, congratulations! You get the lovely, unique sensation of eating dirt as the Door knocks you facefirst into the ground. You'll probably be a little woozy at first, so take your time getting up- meet some folks, introduce yourself, don't be weird about it. Welcome to Hadriel! You're not the only person who just got to taste alien dirt firsthand, though- there are several people in the same predicament as you, so feel free to say hi! Probably shouldn't spend too much time talking though, because the lovely trees that you thought were just scenery are starting to creep ever closer the more you let your guard down.
All around you is a forest of spooky evil trees- it seems to be just a normal sort of forest at first, but the more you take your eyes off of them, the more they shift around you and close in. Or is that just your imagination? If you move too close to one, look out! They're rather determined to pick you up and stick you into the ground so you might take root- and if you resist, well, a severed bud can still serve as a seed, right?
If the trees tear your clothes though, don't worry, there's plenty of extras to be found lying around the arena if you don't mind them being a bit dirty. Lying on the ground and sometimes hanging off of these tree branches are some free shirts, yours for the taking! You know, if you'd be caught dead with one...
But hey, after you've met new friends and found a new aesthetic, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

I'm in your debt. [He turns his attention back to Raidou. He can ask about the Nue later; it ought to be the least of his concerns right now.] We should flee this place -- there's too many to fight them all.
no subject
[Raidou points to where he and Nue had just come from. The trees were closing in, but there was still a path that had been cleared. Nue lopes off that way, clawing the way clear again as he ran. Branches reached for them, but Raidou was quick enough to catch them before they could grab a hold of him.]
Things will be clear once we're outside the coliseum. I can explain then.
no subject
Right. Allow me to help our escape. Goemon!
[He summons his Persona, which casts Masukujaka on the pair of them as well as Nue, increasing both their evasion and accuracy. Dodging the trees and getting away quickly would be much easier, with the spell in effect.]
no subject
Raidou recognizes that spell. This has got to be one of those Personas, then; this guy was even calling his out like Akira did.
He has no problem leading them to the nearest exit, either. He'll give them a moment to catch their breath, since it gives Raidou time to think of how to explain to this a newbie. He hasn't had to do that yet.]
So that was the usual greeting of running for your life. Welcome to Hadriel.
no subject
Exhaling, he offers Raidou a wry smile.]
Thank you for the kind welcome. Does this kind of thing happen often?
no subject
[Raidou keeps his eye on that exit, just in case.]
The trees will mostly stick inside the coliseum, so we should be okay. There's a lot to explain, but... [He reaches into a pocket and takes out his smartphone.] Do you know what one of these are?
no subject
It's a phone. Is there something special about it?
no subject
There's a document on here that will explain things more thoroughly than I probably can. It will also put you in touch with everyone else here, and the, ah, "beings" in charge. [He doesn't like calling them gods.]
The short version is, this is an underground town we're all unwillingly brought to, and can't leave. Every month, people are brought in just like you are, along with some new variety of creatures. This time it was the trees.
no subject
And what do these beings want with us? Do they want to see us struggle against whatever creatures they pit against us, or is that only one part of our being brought here?
no subject
There's no way out, yet. And there is another race of beings that are coming after all of us, to top things off. They're called the Null, and the Null refers to the beings here as "parasites". Better than "gods" as they tend to get called. In my opinion, anyway.
no subject
[Human or god -- anything that leeches off others isn't worth respect, in Yusuke's opinion.]
But what are the Null? Are they a threat? What are their goals, beyond their distaste for these "parasites"?
no subject
I know it's a lot to take in but I think it's important to know.
[He looks over Yusuke. That mask, that demon he used...]
The summoned creature you had earlier - is that known as a "persona"?
no subject
[It's a lot of information to take in, but Yusuke gets the general gist of what's going on. He'd rather know now than have any nasty surprises thrown his way later. To the question, he nods.]
That's right. He is Goemon, my other self who gives me the strength to fight. What about your Nue companion -- is that a Shadow?
no subject
He's a demon who works with me. I had several before I got here, but I arrived in Hadriel with only two.
[From under his cloak, Raidou removes a small silver tube from a bandoleer on his chest. He gives Nue a nod, and then the tube begins to glow green. There's a bright flash, and Nue is gone. Raidou holds up the tube, still faintly glowing, before putting it away.]
That's how they come with me.
[He's basically a demonic pokemon hunter.]
no subject
[He's never heard Akira refer to his Personas as demons, and he's definitely seen him use a mask just like that Nue. How curious.
Maybe the tubes behave in a similar way to Joker's mask...? He'll have to mention this to Akira later.]
I think my Persona and your demon are not so different. But how do you know about Personas to begin with?
no subject
[Raidou is quiet for a moment, wondering if it's right to give out people's names. The chances are they might not know each other. But what if they do and they're enemies? Well... Everyone's names are listed in the contacts list on the phones. It wouldn't be secret for long.]
His name is Akira Kurusu. I'm Raidou Kuzunoha. I've been here for about three months now.
no subject
...I'm Fox. It's nothing personal, but I'll need to speak to Akira myself before I can give you my real name. Do you know where I might find him?
no subject
...Ah. Not at this very moment, no. But, you can call him. Check your pockets for a phone.
no subject
When did this get here? How odd.
[He turns it on and checks through the apps for the Nav, or something that might resemble it. No joy, though.]
no subject
You know how they work, then?
[Yusuke seemed more confused by how it got there rather than what it was. But Raidou sure had no idea how it worked when he arrived.]
no subject
[And in fact, he might've just tried calling Akira on his regular phone, had Raidou not pointed out this one. Not that there would be any reception here, but... worth a try, right?]
no subject
[Yusuke's normal phone won't be any good, but somehow this new one is. Thanks, god magic.]
Hadriel can be a bit boring when there's nothing strange happening. There isn't much in the way of entertainment, but people are trying to build new things, and clean up after a fire last month. It's best to keep busy.
[He's still trying to figure out how to do that himself.]
no subject
[Yusuke taps his chin thoughtfully, looking around. This can definitely serve as new inspiration for himself and his art, he's sure.
He looks back at Raidou.] I'm going to go search for Akira, and take some time to explore the city. Thank you for all your help.
no subject
[Says the kid who's been here three months and still hasn't made a network post. He's not the chatty type.]
There is a bar, and there's talks of building a cafe. The library is pretty much useless, and a lot of people work at the clinic.
no subject
[He's underage, though, which means no bar for him, even if he was interested in such things. On the other hand...]
For what reason is the library useless? I presume because none of the texts are in Japanese?
