If it's your first time here, congratulations! You get the lovely, unique sensation of eating dirt as the Door knocks you facefirst into the ground. You'll probably be a little woozy at first, so take your time getting up- meet some folks, introduce yourself, don't be weird about it. Welcome to Hadriel! You're not the only person who just got to taste alien dirt firsthand, though- there are several people in the same predicament as you, so feel free to say hi! Probably shouldn't spend too much time talking though, because the lovely trees that you thought were just scenery are starting to creep ever closer the more you let your guard down.
All around you is a forest of spooky evil trees- it seems to be just a normal sort of forest at first, but the more you take your eyes off of them, the more they shift around you and close in. Or is that just your imagination? If you move too close to one, look out! They're rather determined to pick you up and stick you into the ground so you might take root- and if you resist, well, a severed bud can still serve as a seed, right?
If the trees tear your clothes though, don't worry, there's plenty of extras to be found lying around the arena if you don't mind them being a bit dirty. Lying on the ground and sometimes hanging off of these tree branches are some free shirts, yours for the taking! You know, if you'd be caught dead with one...
But hey, after you've met new friends and found a new aesthetic, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
sorry for the delay! heath issues sidelined me a bit
OH.
Well, France won;'t stop fussing back because instead he's staring for a moment before laughing.]
Incroyable. The last face I expected to see! And what do you mean what am I doing here? I was kidnapped cruelly and thrown in a cave with monsters and terrible food!
[Oh. There's the fussing.] You were abducted too?
no worries!
He digs his smartphone from his pocket and checks the date.]
Newbie day already? Shit... I totally lost track of time this month. You just got here? I've been the only one here since Russia left ages ago! [The only nation, that is. Not that he shed any tears over Russia disappearing.]
no subject
[France actually looks aghast here.] ...did we really not notice you gone for nine months?
[Wow. That's a little sad somehow. (No one has clued France into how this place warps time he just assumes that they all forgot about Prussia for the better part of a year.]
That's right though. I just arrived here, I-- [Oh yeah no it is fine that Russia has already come and gone. Especially the gone part. Residual shudder.]
no subject
No one noticed?
[He looks momentarily horrified. No one?! Sure, he spends a lot of time hiding away playing Call of Duty and watching movies but come on...
That's when he remembers that time can be a little funny here. For example, the Russia that was here was coming from the 17th or 18th century. He kept calling Prussia "Brandenburg", after all.
That's okay. He's going to use this to his advantage. Somehow.]
Well while the rest of you have been off acting like I'm dead, I've been here making a big name for myself.
no subject
[Surely. Someone. Though now that France thinks about it, when was the last time he spoke to Prussia? Oops.
Well, no time like the present to make up for lost time!]
...a big name?
[DO TELL, PRUSSIA. France is all ears here.]
no subject
And... I bring lots of supplies to the clinic. [Because they're patching him up all the time.] AND... I won this huge paintball contest we had! They even gave me a trophy with my name on it. [So did several other people.] Yeah, so slackin' for me. If I went home now anyway, this place would be lost without me!
no subject
[France is skeptical. Only because he knows Prussia. ...hell he even likes Prussia. But he does not believe Prussia.]
So you've no interest in finding your way back out of his infernal cave? Aren't you homesick?
[France is. Already.]
no subject
[This is actually something he does that probably actually does help.]
Huh? Of course I want outta this place! It's a hellhole. But it's not that easy. A lotta people here, they somehow end up here after they're dead back home. So we can't just send everyone back 'n be done with it. We have to make this place livable first. Which means not relying on the gods for stuff anymore. Which means getting our own food and supplies which is... complicated when you're underground and moving all the time. But I'll figure it out! I... just need more time.
[Sure, he can do it. He can do anything, right?]
no subject
Actually, that's quite noble.
[Though this is news to him here, that part.] People here are dead people? But... I am not dead? Are you dead? Not everyone can be dead...
[R...right? Maybe. OH GOD. IS HE DEAD? HAS FRANCE TRULY FALLEN?
No, okay no way. Deep breath.] Is there no way for the dead to leave this place, even if not to their own worlds, if we could escape, if they are alive here, could they not be alive somewhere else?
no subject
I--- Maybe? This whole multi-dimensional travelling thing is new to me too, ya know. That might work. We got a lot to do before we can get to that point anyway. Like figure out how the Door thing works in the first place. Which is a puzzle I'm leavin' to all the magicy nerds around here. I'm busy keeping the place safe so they got time to do that in the first place.
no subject
[Way too much life! France shakes his head, frowning.]
Multidimensional travel is a bit beyond me as well, I fear. So perhaps I can find something else worthwhile to do while I am here. Any suggestions?
[Be kind, Prussia.]
no subject
Yeah, good luck with that. In between newbies showing up and whatever weird thing the gods are gonna do to us, there's nothing to do. No TV, no video games, not even books.
no subject
[Perfect. Yes. France will see what he can do to try to brighten people's days. No television or video, well, there were centuries without those things.
Perhaps some art! And some music. Surely if anyone can help bring those things to such a barren place it's him! Right??
Well that's what he's decided.]
Is there wine at least? That could be a foundation, of a sort.
no subject
Oh right, booze.]
Oh, if there's anything here, it's alcohol. Thank God for that. There's a bar - what everyone calls the speakeasy. I can't vouch for the wine, but the beer is okay. Better than no beer, that's for sure.
