Event Log: Dreamwalker the Second

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Dreamwalker part 2 event
Where: In your dreams
When: October 14th-20th (the second log will go up on Oct 23rd, please keep the two weeks of the event separate!)
Warnings: All different kinds of dreams falling under the umbrella of Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope.

This time, the weird stuff doesn't happen when you're awake- as a matter of fact, your waking hours are the normal ones. That's because you're forced to sleep by some unknown entity, getting more and more exhausted by the moment as night falls. Better make sure you're always around a soft pillow.

Once asleep, it doesn't get any less weird- your dreams will be influenced by one of the four gods that make up the first week. Something to make you smile, something to make you angry- or something that reminds you of your deepest regret or most vulnerable hope, they're all things that you're dreaming about now for some reason, no matter how hard you may try to pull away from them.

To make matters more complicated, there are others intruding on your dreams who definitely don't belong there, and while they may seem like manifestations at first, it becomes clear that these others are actually the consciousness of other members of Hadriel, getting some top quality exposure to your angriest, happiest, most sorrowful moments. Hope it doesn't get awkward when you see them tomorrow...

► This log covers October 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in dreams you don't die in real life, but if you somehow die in real life anyway, please let us know here.

Atem observes the monster coming out of her and, well, he's both repulsed and amazed by it. Why does a seemingly innocent woman like that has such a terrible monster inside of her, what the hell did she do? The question is not only that, but if she's capable of doing so again.

But he sees her crying and trying to get away from it, he's seen that reaction before from people unaware of the evil they can do. Either she truly thought she's innocent or that she could simply hide these horrible truths from the world. They always come to the light...

Hurry up, Seto.

The man in blues nods at him, he raises the golden rod in his possession at the monster and howls.

Evil Ka! Dark spirit of chaos! Begone--and enter the holy stone!

The rod shines, just as the rest of the artifacts had, the light surrounds the monster and it is pushed forcefully into a stone slab in a side of the room that had been previously prepared for this sole purpose. An engraving of the spirit monster appears on it and then everything comes to an and, all that can be heard are the sobs of the woman.

Bring her before me.

Atem finally speaks. The six priests and his Vizier look at him, as if they weren't believing what they are hearing. They will not go against his wishes, however. The guards that brought her in, lift her by her arms and walk her towards the throne, then force her to kneel before Atem.

What did you do?

[Abigail wipes at her eyes when the monster disappears. It doesn't do any good; the tears are still falling. She doesn't resist as she's made to kneel. She's spent time begging her father to stop, pleading with the F.B.I to leave her alone, that actual kneeling doesn't seem much worse. She shakes her head, not caring that it makes her hair slip out of place, - making it easier for the scars, from having her ear cut off, to be seen.]

I didn't do anything.

[She points as best she can towards the man that had the key.]

He made that thing appear. Not me.

[She then clasps her hands together.]

You must have seen I had no control over it. Please. Let me go.

Stop lying to me!

The young King finally snaps at her, with fire in his eyes as he looks down at her, even the room seems to reflect his anger, his frustration, closing down on them. It's unbelievable for him that she cannot accept the darkness in her heart when it had been painfully obvious she had done something terrible in during life.

Don't act so naive, child. It is the old man beside Atem who speaks now, in a calmer yet firm way.Your Ka, that monster, is a reflection of your the darkness in your soul. Your hatred and your guilt created it. Repent and you may live. The Pharaoh can be merciful, the god of the Afterlife will be not."

[Abigail flinches as his anger seems to unfurl all around her. She's ready to argue, continue to feign innocence as she always does and if that fails - to hurl angry words at him, challenging him and calling him a liar. There's already a rage starting to grow in her own eyes.

Then the other man speaks and she can't deny it. She has so much hate for her father - the way he stole her childhood and made her a killer. And her guilt for all the lives lost is overwhelming. There's only one thing he gets wrong. The look on her eyes changes from of anger to one of defeat.

That ka thing wasn't the monster. I'm the monster. I'm the killer.

[She admits in a whisper. She's shaking. She can't expect mercy when she showed none to her father's victims or her own.]

I don't want to die.

Is she murderer? Is that what is going on here? Atem can feel his stomach drop either in total disappointment or utter disgust, he doesn't know. It is worse than he thought it'd be.

A life for a life, that's what you deserve.

There is strained pause, she doesn't want to die, but does she deserve her life?

Do you even regret it?

(ooc; sorry about the engrish in the prior tag, idk where my mind was.)

[Abigail nods sadly; she knows what she deserves. ]

It's what they tell me in my nightmares. That I should have died instead of all of them.

[It doesn't make her any less afraid. She futility tries to pull her hands out of the chains.]

But it won't change anything. It won't bring them back. It'll just be another life wasted.

[She looks in his eyes, letting him see the guilt she feels.]

I regret all of it! I'm sorry for all of it!

[She had started out quietly, but her voice is getting louder with each word, turning into panicked yelling]

If I could have said no to my dad, I would have! But I didn't want to die then! And I don't want to die now!

Atem looks a little horrified to find out it was not only one, but many lives she took, it fuels his anger a little further.

Justice would be served. Their souls would finally find the rest you took away from them.

Though he might not sound as convinced as he was before, his anger wavers when he hears it is not something she might have done simply because she wished it so.

But one must always pay for their father's sins. He knows it, he's lived through it...

[Abigail shakes her head at that word.]

There was no justice for me, being born to a father who would twist his love for me in such sick ways. There was no justice in forcing a child to find victims for her father in order to survive.

[She looks around the room and back to him.]

And there's no justice here. You have so much here, you can't judge someone who had nothing and think that's fair.

[She gestures to her chains.]

There are no chains on you for wanting to kill me. Will you die for my soul to rest? And then someone else to die for your soul to rest? What kind of justice doesn't let souls rest until everyone is dead? None. There is no such thing as justice. What you are serving is your need to feel powerful.

[She can almost see her father and Hannibal when she looks at him now.]

The Priest in blues tries to approach, opens his mouth but before he even utters a sound, surely an insult to her, Atem has but to look at him for other to stop.

You really think yourself so bold and courageous for telling me your truths? That they will move me somehow? We saw who you truly are. And instead of taking responsibility of your actions, of the lives you took, you blame your father. And perhaps, he was a sinner, but you have dishonored him and become one yourself, you will pay for your own and his offences. You do not deserve any mercy, Abigail.

Why does he know that name...?

It is not going to be me who decides what happens to your tarnished soul, you already made that choice. Pray to your gods, may they hear your cries, you will die tonight.

The Pharaoh gives her one last stare before he makes a mere hand movement. Take her away, it says, nothing else.

[Abigail shakes her head and looks at him with pleading eyes.]

You've only seen parts. There's supposed to a trial. A jury of my peers. And lawyers to explain self defense. And doctors to explain captor bonding and Stockholm syndrome.

You don't know the real me or you'd know how sorry I am, how guilty I feel.

[As soon as he says she'll die, she tries to crawl away. She manages to pull herself along the ground a short distance. Then out of frustration, bends her thumb backwards, trying to break it so she can slip her hand out of the chains and move faster. Finally she stops.]

How are you going to do it? How will I die?

And this, this is the part he hates the most, the begging, the pleas. They all can do better, but what does it matter? The Pharaoh has spoken and he will not change his mind. He can't! It's how it's been written, how things must be done. A life for a life, it's only fair! May the feather of Ma'at consider her good deeds. Highly unlikely. Nothing weighs more on one's soul than the dead weight of a corpse.

It shall be a merciful death. That's all you need to know.

Atem's Vizier speaks up before the guards that brought her in drag her away from the Pharaoh's view. The trial is over and so may this nightmare.
