What: The event log for the Dreamwalker part 2 event
Where: In your dreams
When: October 14th-20th (the second log will go up on Oct 23rd, please keep the two weeks of the event separate!)
Warnings: All different kinds of dreams falling under the umbrella of Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope.
This time, the weird stuff doesn't happen when you're awake- as a matter of fact, your waking hours are the normal ones. That's because you're forced to sleep by some unknown entity, getting more and more exhausted by the moment as night falls. Better make sure you're always around a soft pillow.
Once asleep, it doesn't get any less weird- your dreams will be influenced by one of the four gods that make up the first week. Something to make you smile, something to make you angry- or something that reminds you of your deepest regret or most vulnerable hope, they're all things that you're dreaming about now for some reason, no matter how hard you may try to pull away from them.
To make matters more complicated, there are others intruding on your dreams who definitely don't belong there, and while they may seem like manifestations at first, it becomes clear that these others are actually the consciousness of other members of Hadriel, getting some top quality exposure to your angriest, happiest, most sorrowful moments. Hope it doesn't get awkward when you see them tomorrow...► This log covers October 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in dreams you don't die in real life, but if you somehow die in real life anyway, please let us know here.

Lup, on the other hand, sees an opportunity where it's given, and points Angus towards the edge of camp, tugging Taako along. As soon as he's close enough, they fall into step in front of him, essentially using the disguised form as a body blocker for them as they continue to make their getaway. Angus can now also clearly see that the twins are carrying bags of something they most certainly weren't before.
As soon as they reach the treeline, they both break off into a run, crashing through the underbrush.
But Taako looks back to see if Angus follows.]
no subject
... Waitasecond, where did they go?!
Angus yelps, a distinctly 11-year-old-boy sound that doesn't match his disguise at all, and runs after them into the forest. The disguise dissipates as he stops focusing on it, leaving Angus - who is used to cities and moon bases, not forests - scrambling through the underbrush, stumbling over roots, and getting scratched up by every tree branch and thorny bush within range. ]
H-hey! Hey, wait up! Don't leave--!
no subject
Out of nowhere, the twins split opposite directions, ducking behind opposite trees just long enough for Angus to catch up, when they reappear just as suddenly, blocking his way, arms linked. Lup speaks first, but at this age- and by virtue of trying to look the same for the con they were pulling- it's hard to actually tell.]
Where'd you come from, kid? You tryin' to bring us in?
[Taako pipes up directly after, expression a little more dour.]
Why'd you help us? What do you want?
no subject
What? No! No, I don't--!
[ Okay, okay, no. He can't freak out like this. Angus gets back to his feet, dusting leaves off his jacket and straightening his bowtie. He needs complete sentences, here. He needs to sound less like a scared kid, and more like someone who can handle this and knows what he's doing. ]
... I don't want anything, and I'm not trying to bring you in anywhere. You just... it looked like that guy was gonna hurt you!
[ Ok, he was aiming for composure and landed somewhere between that and freaked-out sincerity, it'll have to do for now! ]
no subject
So? Why do you care?
[Lup pipes up right after.]
People do that stuff all the time. You help, and then we owe you. No dice. People don't just do things for free.
[Taako frees a hand to gesture to his clothes, as well.]
You look rich. And you know magic. You were sent by someone. Who's tryin' to find us?
[Lup picks up as soon as her brother stops, sentences flowing into each other like a conversation they've already decided the ending to.]
Somebody wants something. So spill. What're you really doin', kid?
no subject
Nobody sent me, honest! I'm... I'm not rich, I don't have any money on me, and... I'm lost.
[ That last part comes out a bit lamely, but it's true. He really has no idea where he is. Angus is a painfully earnest kid who usually believes that honesty is the best policy, but that approach doesn't seem to be working in his favour, and he can tell that going 'hey, you're actually my magic teacher from the future' will absolutely not end well for him. ]
... Um, I still have a few spell slots left, I can cast Zone of Truth on myself if that'd make you believe me? I can't go back the way we came, and... do you guys know how to get out of this forest?
no subject
We know how to get out of here. And don't think we owe you 'cuz of that camp. So if you want our help...
[And just like that, Taako's at Angus back, slipping his wand out of his pocket.]
You're gonna put those spell slots to better use and teach us that disguise spell you did back there.
no subject
... oh, crap! Angus whirls around with an indignant cry and snatches at the wand, mentally berating himself for leaving an opening. ]
Hey! Give it--!
[ Okay, okay, no. He can't handle this like the twins are a pair of schoolyard bullies, getting all screechy and indignant like some stupid kid never works. Maybe he'll have better luck if he approaches this logically. ]
I-I can't show you how to do the spell if I don't have my wand! I need that back!
no subject
We do magic all the time without one.
[Taako snickers a bit, keeping around Angus' back to be sure he doesn't bolt.]
Maybe we don't need him to figure it out. Maybe we just take it.
[Lup looks towards Taako, like she's actually considering the prospect, and then shrugs, sliding the wand in her hand and pointing it back towards Angus, her hand on the handle.]
Could blast 'im right now. Pew pew! Out.
[Both twins laugh, a short, sharp noise, before Lup tilts the wand upwards and thrusts the handle towards him.]
Alright, fine. But get on the lesson, chop chop.
no subject
Okay! Okay. Um. Teaching. Right. That’s... that’s a thing that’s happening now.
[ How would Taako handle this? Taako was actually a pretty good teacher when he felt like teaching (and sometimes even when he didn’t), and part of that was because his teaching style had been so different than what Angus was used to - less arcane theory and studying, more actual method and feeling things out. He has a feeling that the twins won’t have the patience for anything dry, which means that it’s time to Fantasy Freaky Friday this shit and imitate Taako’s teaching methods. ]
... Okay! So. That was a level one spell called Disguise Self. It’s sort of like the cantrip Minor Illusion, but...
[ How would Taako put it?]
...More baller. The principles are the same, It’s like putting on a big illusory coat. You, um, you have to be careful though, because you can only disguise yourself as someone the same basic size and shape as yourself, maybe a foot taller or wider, but that’s it.
no subject
At the very least, Angus seems to be right, and the twins look raring to go. Taako speaks up first, bouncing a little bit forward.]
Okay okay okay, so how do we make it? Minor Illusion is like, small stuff, how do you change like... you??
[Lup side-eyes him a little, hands moving to her hips.]
Isn't that a little freaky? Using magic on yourself? What if you mess up and like, get rid'a all your organs?
[Taako smacks at her a bit, taking his eyes off Angus only as long as he has to.]
Shut up, dummy, it's illusion, it's all fake.
[He turns his attention back to Angus, turning his wrist in the universal symbol of 'keep going'.]
no subject
[ Angus crouches down, and starts to scratch stick figures into the dirt with the tip of his wand to illustrate his talking points. ]
Anyway, Disguise Self works the same way as Minor Illusion, but instead of forming an illusion that appears in front of you, you form it around you. Think of it as... putting on a big coat and a pair of Fantasy Groucho Marx glasses, I guess? Figuratively speaking, of course. It's like a really big illusion that you're wearing like a costume.
[ He aims the wand at his chest and casts the spell as clearly and slowly as he can, turning himself into a smaller version of Magnus. His form is a bit wobbly around the edges, but the bulk of it stays steady as he mentally reviews this whole situation. By now, Angus has pretty much ruled out temporal anomalies and mindflayers, and the last thing he can remember is going to sleep in his own bed, which means that whatever's happening now isn't real, and... probably won't have any legit consequences. ]
... If you want, you can temporarily borrow the wand to try out the spell, but you have to give it back, ok? I can help you get wands in the next town.
[ He doesn't realize it, but Angus is giving Taako his best Serious Look, the one that makes him look like a disapproving librarian. It looks hilariously out of place on Magnus's face, and it absolutely doesn't match the squeaky 11-year-old-boy voice coming out of his mouth. ]
no subject
Oh yeah, sir dweebus, we won't take your shit. C'mon, hand it over.
[Lup's the one who makes grabby hands towards him, but they seem actually intent on giving it a shot, as oppose to looking like they're gonna run off with it this time. She speaks up again, hands still outstretched.]
Yeah, if you're gonna buy us new stuff, I'm holding you to that buddy. We don't want your used whatever. Except for right now, yeah?
