Event Log: Dreamwalker the Second

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Dreamwalker part 2 event
Where: In your dreams
When: October 14th-20th (the second log will go up on Oct 23rd, please keep the two weeks of the event separate!)
Warnings: All different kinds of dreams falling under the umbrella of Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope.

This time, the weird stuff doesn't happen when you're awake- as a matter of fact, your waking hours are the normal ones. That's because you're forced to sleep by some unknown entity, getting more and more exhausted by the moment as night falls. Better make sure you're always around a soft pillow.

Once asleep, it doesn't get any less weird- your dreams will be influenced by one of the four gods that make up the first week. Something to make you smile, something to make you angry- or something that reminds you of your deepest regret or most vulnerable hope, they're all things that you're dreaming about now for some reason, no matter how hard you may try to pull away from them.

To make matters more complicated, there are others intruding on your dreams who definitely don't belong there, and while they may seem like manifestations at first, it becomes clear that these others are actually the consciousness of other members of Hadriel, getting some top quality exposure to your angriest, happiest, most sorrowful moments. Hope it doesn't get awkward when you see them tomorrow...

► This log covers October 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in dreams you don't die in real life, but if you somehow die in real life anyway, please let us know here.

Shit-

(
They're not there. And the harder Kate looks, the more the stadium seems to distort, slowly dissolving before both their eyes. Top to bottom, each person slowly fading and-

There's a glimpse of four people, two couples twice her age, proud, smiling faces the last thing etched into her eyes before they're twisted into nothingness, like swirling smoke.
)

... That didn't-

( That can't have happened, and the pain is clear in Kate's voice for once as they're left standing in nothingness, five others standing mute - caramel blonde and redheaded interviewers, the two cameramen, and a woman with thick curly black hair, each as confused as each other. )

Marc. Where's Marc?

( Perhaps it's something to do with the dream, but it's clear who Marc is to Kate just from those words - her brother, the only one she didn't see disappear.

And in the smoke that lingers, the remains of a dream she never got to have, a dot of bright blue, indistinct in the distance.

[the dream gets increasingly creepier and nightmarish as the people just fade away.

she tries to follow Kate's gaze and notices the couples just before they vanish.

the pain in Kate's voice makes George ache for her friend. it sounds like she just had something torn out of her. and George still doesn't know who the other people are, but she gets the idea that they must be important to Kate somehow]

I--I don't know.

[George scans what's left of the crowd, looking for Kate's brother. somehow, she just knows that he has blue hair in contrast to Kate's pink and she catches a glimpse of blue in the distance]

( The group of them band together slowly, and expressions of confusion give way to something more serious. Something darker, expressions of people who've been through too much too fast, where there's no more room for the joy or brightness that was present only moments ago. It all disappears with the stadium, and the air around them feels heavier than it should be, as though it carries the weight of a thousand sins in it.

Kate notices the blue a moment too late, catches the last trails of it disappearing further into the mist.
)

... Were that-?

( And it's the woman with the thick, black hair who speaks, her voice carrying all the certainty of someone who already knows how this will go, and all the remorse of someone who wishes she didn't: )

You'll never catch him. He's gone.

[George watches them and can feel the atmosphere changing into something darker, more oppressive. she shivers a little in response and watches the blue hair fade away. she then fixes her gaze on Kate

after the exchange between Kate and the black haired woman, George goes to Kate's side, hoping to get a better answer]

Who says? Whoever he is, he could still be out there.

( But something in the air says its true. They'll never catch him. The blue reappears somewhere west of where they're standing and fades as soon as Kate starts towards it. )

Dammit-

( The people around them crowd closer, and the dark-haired woman speaks again, this time to George: )

She has to stop. He's never coming back.
toiletseat_girl: (but he underestimates my mind)

[George starts towards it, too, and stops beside Kate]

Kate, it's okay. We'll find him.

[George snaps her head to the side, glaring at the dark-haired woman]

You don't know that. Not for sure.

( And maybe George is right, because that flash of blue is all too close now, facial features coming in clear as he steps within the space that encompasses the group with eyes too dark and lips set in a grim line. )

You could have protected me.

( It's all he says, voice flat and stare drilling down into her. )

I know.

Are you going to fail to save everyone here, too?

( And - just as that dark haired woman said, her eyes fading away into an unseen future - he's gone.

And there's nothing else they can do but let the mist sink into lung and bone, suffocating until Kate's eyes fly open, hands grasping at the covers with an ache resting low and hollow in her chest.
)
