Event Log: End of Arc 2

Who: All characters
What: The event log for the End of Arc 2
Where: All over the city
When: November 25th-December 12th
Warnings: A full-scale battle, including character death, NPC death, and various other ways to suffer

It was bound to happen. The Null warned you, after all, and this has been building for awhile - and now it's here. First comes the initial attack, the agents of the Null attacking Hope's temple. Then, an SOS, warning the city of what's happened: a betrayal, and Hope being injured. Luckily for everyone, thanks to the actions of his guards Hope survives the attack. Unluckily, his attacker, the goddess Delight, escapes and lets the Null in.

Flooding into the cave, the Null will attack anyone who they believe is resisting them. They'll destroy buildings and deploy dangerous crowd control weapons, in addition to their sheer strength and speed. Confusion empties the monsters in the tunnels into the city, to help distract the Null. Some gods fight, others provide safe havens, but everyone is in danger.

After about a week and a half of the attack, Fear summons enough power to teleport the city. This stops any new Null from arriving through the tunnels, but the remaining Null must be hunted down and destroyed, or else they'll signal their location to the rest of their species. The danger will lessen as Null are taken out, but things won't really be safe until Fear moves the city again, so don't get too comfortable.

What will you do? Run and hide? Fight? Help the fighters? Turn on the gods yourself? Whatever you do, it's time to make a decision.

[Komaeda could tell the truth. He could say that he wanted to help Hope in order to defeat despair and uphold hope, even if it meant his own life. However, Ignis does not know him and if he did not understand his goals (most people didn't), it might not work in his favour. Perhaps he could tell a half-truth.

He thinks of a specific name and smiles nonchalantly.]
You kno-

[He is interrupted by one of those electric projectiles coming his way. By luck, it misses him and ends up a metre away from him.

It looks like they both have company.]

[He could have told the truth, and Ignis probably would have understood entirely given the unusual paths that his own life had taken. Neither are to know this, though, and Komaeda's presence serves as the distraction needed for him to not notice that they are about to be under attack.]

By the Six-- [Ignis mutters, stepping aside to shoo the boy into the temple.]

If you're not capable of fighting, get inside.

[Just his luck. They've arrived. Well, one has arrived anyway. It's true that Komaeda is not an experienced fighter. Although he does technically have one weapon on his side. One that might not be good for the Null. Or Ignis.

What is also important though is that he has to protect Hope. The Null moves forward towards Komaeda. Komaeda, still with the weapons, dashes to the temple's entrance and stops.]

Is the god Hope still inside?

[Even as he braces himself to do battle with the oncoming Null, Ignis still manages to shoot the boy a suspicious look.]

You would be best to not try to approach him while armed, or without making your true intentions clear.

[Ignis has no doubt, at this point, that anyone viewed as even the slightest threat would meet fierce resistance. He couldn't say if Hope was still present, though he suspects that he is, and the Guard will not be allowing people to get too close.]

[Komaeda was happy to leave the weapons somewhere. He wanted to prove his allegiance to Hope and that was his first goal.]

Would you like me to leave the weapons here, then?

[Komaeda turned to check. It would be useless if he died here. He realised the Null was coming closer so he started to run inside.....

And then he tripped and fell over. And because his luck is really stupid, the bag of knives he was holding suddenly spring out, blades pointed towards the Null. They're not strong enough to cause huge damage towards it but they do cause it to jump back to try and avoid them.]

[Ignis jumps out of the way, though is quick to realise that the knives were very unlikely to have hit him anyway. He isn't sure if it's monumentally good or bad luck but it is definitely some kind of luck that the Null is distracted.]

No more time for talk.

[Definitely no more time. Ignis flips both of his daggers into his hands and moves swiftly to flank the creature.]

Move, or fight, but decide quickly!

[After a few seconds, Komaeda pushes himself up and turns his head. Oh....it looks like his luck has worked again. Unfortunately, it has also ensured that he has no weapon. Darn. He has a pen knife but he's not sure how it's going to help in this situation.

Meanwhile, the Null takes a few seconds to recover and suddenly shoots out another electricty projectile, right at Ignis. Ignis might want to try to dodge out of the way.]

[Ignis, luckily, is a man very well-trained in battle and a swift mover along with it. He does dodge, leaving the projectile to slam into the wall behind where he was just stood. A soft, irritated sound leaves him, fingers tightening around his weapons.

He's going to have to take this thing down.

But first, he looks over at the boy.
]

Why are you still just standing there?

[As long as he's not either moving or fighting, he's a liability needing protection in this battle.]

Lemme know if this is ok!

[personal profile] hoperulesdespairdrools 2017-12-19 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Maybe this is Ignis' fight. Komaeda decides and starts to head into the temple.

Until another Null flies from above and lands right in front of him blocking his path.]

Ah. Whoops.

[That is a bit of an understatement.]
claritatis: (011 !)

... likewise.

[personal profile] claritatis 2017-12-23 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[This most certainly looks like it should be Ignis' fight, but up until the moment this boy appeared on the scene it hadn't been a fight at all. Komaeda's apparent inability to get out of the way - either through bad luck or something else - forces a frustrated sound from the already far-too-frustrated Ignis and in the next moment the hilt of a dagger is buried in the torso section of the Null in front of the boy.

The creature stiffens, then falls, and Ignis pushes Komaeda hard towards the door of the temple.
]

I have no time for this kind of tomfoolery, get inside if you're to be of no other use to me.
