Event Log: End of Arc 2

Who: All characters
What: The event log for the End of Arc 2
Where: All over the city
When: November 25th-December 12th
Warnings: A full-scale battle, including character death, NPC death, and various other ways to suffer

It was bound to happen. The Null warned you, after all, and this has been building for awhile - and now it's here. First comes the initial attack, the agents of the Null attacking Hope's temple. Then, an SOS, warning the city of what's happened: a betrayal, and Hope being injured. Luckily for everyone, thanks to the actions of his guards Hope survives the attack. Unluckily, his attacker, the goddess Delight, escapes and lets the Null in.

Flooding into the cave, the Null will attack anyone who they believe is resisting them. They'll destroy buildings and deploy dangerous crowd control weapons, in addition to their sheer strength and speed. Confusion empties the monsters in the tunnels into the city, to help distract the Null. Some gods fight, others provide safe havens, but everyone is in danger.

After about a week and a half of the attack, Fear summons enough power to teleport the city. This stops any new Null from arriving through the tunnels, but the remaining Null must be hunted down and destroyed, or else they'll signal their location to the rest of their species. The danger will lessen as Null are taken out, but things won't really be safe until Fear moves the city again, so don't get too comfortable.

What will you do? Run and hide? Fight? Help the fighters? Turn on the gods yourself? Whatever you do, it's time to make a decision.

I don't think I've got enough strength for that.

[But he grins at the thought of it. Still, all he's got is his sword, no magic like that - which is why he's been avoiding direct conflict with the Null when he can. No point in taking on a fight you can't win.]

But I'd certainly love to see it happen. Go right ahead.

[Rhy gestures somewhat theatrically with his free hand, still holding his sword, keeping an eye out for any other Null that might be approaching them. Though it seems like he's in good company, when it comes to fighting.]

Dude, I'm serious, it's so easy. Watch.

[He doesn't drop his stance, spinning the Umbra Staff's handle in his fingers before pointing it back towards the entirely frozen Null. Immediately, three golden bullets erupt from the front, circle the Null for just a moment, and then slam into it's prone form, shattering it into a ton of tiny, fragmented pieces. He lets the staff fall a bit down his arm, catching on his wrist and spinning once before he rests his weight on it pressed into the floor. He's spent, like, a lot of time on that.]

You coulda hit it with just about anything. That was barely a level one spell, homie.

Impressive.

[He does sound quite honestly impressed. He would applaud, if he didn't need to keep his sword at the ready.]

I'm afraid I can't manage any spells at all, level one or not. Level zero? Well, whatever's the easiest, I can't do that, either.

[Rhy manages not to sound regretful or resentful, though he sometimes feels both. There's not much to be done about having no magical talent, except try to cultivate other talents.]

You don't even need a spell to get it, my dude. Got a buddy who uses an axe, he loves to break that sort of shit. 'Ss cathartic. Hell, you probably could'a punched it.

[Not that he's going to turn down the opportunity to look like a badass, though. Especially in front of an attractive dude.]

You've uh, totally got a future in staring at me doing cool stuff though. Keep that up and you might earn a promotion to being a full time asskisser.

I'm not sure punching it would do much but break my hand. Luckily, I've got a sword.

[Which is... something, at least, though generally the Null are too sturdily built for him to be able to do all that much damage. Not that that's stopped him.]

You know, I've always thought my talents were wasted on being royalty. What's the use of having asskissers when you're much better at being one?

See, coulda stabbed it.

[But the mention of royalty causes him to raise and eyebrow, saddling in a little close with a nudge of his elbow.]

Well, that's good news for you, 'cause uh, I'm also up there on the royal line. So if you don't wanna bother, you can be my royal asskisser.

[He's also a royal fucking liar, who is likely incorrectly surmising that Rhy has money he's willing to part with. Or could become willing to part with.]

Oh, are you?

[He's more amused than anything, willing to play along - honestly, it doesn't make much difference to him whether it's a lie or not. Rhy will treat him the same regardless.]

While a tempting offer, I have to say I don't know you well enough at all to properly kiss ass. We'll just have to be allies who come from the same noble blood, I suppose.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

Where are you from?

[Oh, he is prepared to lie his way through this entire interaction and possibly every future one. He's a long lost prince now, so says him, thanks.]

Normally, I could just say from a totally other world and it would be mysterious and cool and, still true? But uh, everyone here has that. 'Ss not cool, these cave liches ruining my vibe.

[Taako snuggles up a little closer, bumping Rhy's hip with his.]

But y'know, you thought that was impressive, you haven't seen the best parts of me yet. Then you can really get down on some of my ass.

I was more asking about your world, but I can't say you're wrong about that.

[He grins, then. Rhy is entirely free of shame, very difficult to embarrass, and fully ready to roll wherever this takes him. He bumps Taako's hip in return.]

Oh, is that so? Your best parts must be pretty impressive, then. I'm ready to have my mind blown.

[Oh, Rhy, do not give him an inch, he'll take a mile and your pants. If he wasn't in a relationship with a man he cared about calling before this, he would already likely be pinned against a wall.]

At the rate you're going bubbleh, you're gonna have a lotta things blown.

[He flips some stray pieces of hair over his shoulder, tucking them nicely behind his ear and back into the braid keeping it in check.]

But uh, from a little place called New Elfington. You've probably never heard of it.

[He doesn't need those pants?? He's happy to give them away.]

Now that's promising. I'm sure I could show you a thing or two, as well.

[Rhy grins. He doesn't mind at all if this stays in the realm of ridiculous flirting, really - he's a pretty easygoing guy, and he's enjoying himself.]

'New Elfington'. You're right, I've never even heard the name. Does everyone there look like you?

[Oh fuck yes.]

Like to see you try. And uh, I mean, if you mean elves, yeah, it's pretty much all elves. Like, it's called New Elfington, that sorta sounds like it explains itself my man.

Oh, come now. Elves are all well and good, but that's not what I was talking about.

[Not that it isn't entertaining when someone doesn't realize he's flirting with them, but he's pretty sure Taako does.]

Are you particularly lovely for an elf, or is that simply a racial characteristic?

[Oh, he absolutely does. He raises a hand to his mouth, running the back end of his nails along his lips in a motion that looks partially thoughtful, partially like a man who knows exactly what he's doing.]

Oh, so trying to see how chaboy stacks up. You're not gonna find anything better than me, babe. 'Mm the full package. Strong, hot as hell, an incredible litany of skills.

[He pauses for a second, and grins.]

Also like, super modest.

You've certainly already demonstrated that modesty bit.

[Rhy isn't particularly one for talking up his own qualities - mostly because when you're the crown prince you generally don't need to, everyone does it for you, but partially because he's just a pretty easygoing sort of guy. But that doesn't mean he doesn't find it entertaining in others.]

Attractive, certainly, and your magic is quite impressive. But I think you'll have to demonstrate these mysterious other skills to me. As proof, you see.

[He grins, licking his lips and drawing the bottom one in when his tongue returns to bite at it. Was the city under attack? Was that happening? That sounds fake.]

Oh yeah? And what are some of your preferred skills?

[He saunters closer, putting a hand flat on Rhy's chest as an excuse to draw himself closer and more up in his face.

... But unfortunately, there's a rather big boom much too close, and he straightens up just a bit to look behind him with a small 'tsh'.]

Are you fuckin' kidding me? Goddamnit.

[He sighs, drawing his staff back up.]

Can't believe these fuckin' robots charging in telling us to save room for Pan like a chaperone at a fantasy middle school dance. Bullshit.

[Taako does look back over his shoulder and wink though.]

Not that you gotta go. If you're lookin' to keep being my backup.

[Sure, there was some kind of attack or something going on. Rhy is pretty sure he remembers that. But if you can't make time for a little serious flirting, then what is even the point of fighting for your life?

Still, that explosion was a bit close.]

I think we'll just have to shelve this discussion for later, when I have a little more time to explain. And possibly demonstrate.

[Rhy smiles, completely shameless, and lifts his sword.]

For now, I suppose we ought to fight for our lives. I'd be happy to continue supporting your excellent magical skills.

[See, Taako was hoping to make time for maybe a little harder flirting. Fucking Null. Cockblock of the century. He cocks his hip, just a little shake of his ass, and swings the Umbra Staff to his shoulder.]

Let's go then, babe. Let's see what that body of yours can do.

[... And maybe Taako will bring out that tentacle spell on the field. Just to, uh, get a read on Rhy's reaction. Yep.]
