What: The event log for the End of Arc 2
Where: All over the city
When: November 25th-December 12th
Warnings: A full-scale battle, including character death, NPC death, and various other ways to suffer

It was bound to happen. The Null warned you, after all, and this has been building for awhile - and now it's here. First comes the initial attack, the agents of the Null attacking Hope's temple. Then, an SOS, warning the city of what's happened: a betrayal, and Hope being injured. Luckily for everyone, thanks to the actions of his guards Hope survives the attack. Unluckily, his attacker, the goddess Delight, escapes and lets the Null in.

Flooding into the cave, the Null will attack anyone who they believe is resisting them. They'll destroy buildings and deploy dangerous crowd control weapons, in addition to their sheer strength and speed. Confusion empties the monsters in the tunnels into the city, to help distract the Null. Some gods fight, others provide safe havens, but everyone is in danger.

After about a week and a half of the attack, Fear summons enough power to teleport the city. This stops any new Null from arriving through the tunnels, but the remaining Null must be hunted down and destroyed, or else they'll signal their location to the rest of their species. The danger will lessen as Null are taken out, but things won't really be safe until Fear moves the city again, so don't get too comfortable.

What will you do? Run and hide? Fight? Help the fighters? Turn on the gods yourself? Whatever you do, it's time to make a decision.

[She winces, cursing under her breath.]

You should get somewhere safe.

I can't. I'm not safe.

[ Besides, he's not letting her die alone. ]

I'm not leaving you.

Hm? [She's almost sure she misheard that.]

Why?

...I'm hungry.

[ She'll probably remember this when she comes back, and he shouldn't be telling her, but fuck it. He's tired, and dealing with it alone right now, and so so so hungry. His eyes are red again. ]

I'm sick, I need a special diet. Hope usually feeds me, but not since the attack. If I lose control I could start an outbreak and that's the last thing we need.

[Jo wishes she could open her eyes and try to figure out what the hell was going on.]

Doesn't sound good. [It's getting harder to speak, but she's determined not to give up. Not yet.]

It's not. But I'm not going to hurt anyone. I'll kill myself first.

[ Unless... she's dying anyway. But how the hell do you ask permission to eat someone? ]

[She takes a few shallow breaths before a deep one and-]

Make it harder for Hope, hm? [She almost sounds amused, but her voice is too faint for any inflection to come out.]

What do you eat? Not food?

Better a little than a lot.

[ He keeps petting her hair, though he suspects it's more soothing for him at this point. ]

Human brains.

[She doesn't quite like it, it's making her miss her mother and remember dying the first time, but she doesn't want to protest. She's too distracted by that admission anyway.]

Brains? [Surely she didn't hear that right.]

[ If he knew, he'd stop. :( ]

Yeah. It's not fun.

[Her mind is moving slow, but eventually she puts it all together. Maybe.

He isn't getting food, and if he bites someone...It can't really work like that, right? What the fuck.]

Can we make a deal?

[ Drake tilts his head curiously. ]

...a deal?

I'm gone.

[She lets out a slow breath, blood finally appearing on her lips.]

Tell Dean, George, Ellie and Pell I was okay and you can have my brain.

...tell them... you were okay?

[ Like that she wasn't in any pain or anything? Because she very obviously is. ]

Lie to 'em.

[They don't need to know how bloody and broken she was.]

...okay. I promise.

[ He knows exactly how she's feeling -- Delight's beating would have killed him similarly, if he wasn't a zombie. No one needs to know how bad it is. He shifts his hand from her hair and wipes the blood off her mouth gently. ]

[It's getting harder and harder to take a breath and she can tell it's almost the end.

She's glad she isn't alone, but damn, this still all sucks.]

Thank you. Just rest now... I hope you come back fast.

[ He likes Jo, and this really does suck. He wishes he were a healer and could have done something, but short of scratching her all he can do is hold her hand. Speak to her softly and make sure she isn't alone. ]

[Jo laughs shortly and then groans, fully resting against him now.

It only takes a few more moments before her heart stops. She looks almost peaceful.]

[ Drake sighs, closing his eyes for a moment before gathering Jo up into his arms and lifting her from the temple steps. He has to do this somewhere more discreet, and where he can leave her body so it won't be disturbed. Who knows how long before it disappears?

It won't be easy cutting into a friend, either, but. She's saving him right now. ]
