It was bound to happen. The Null warned you, after all, and this has been building for awhile - and now it's here. First comes the initial attack, the agents of the Null attacking Hope's temple. Then, an SOS, warning the city of what's happened: a betrayal, and Hope being injured. Luckily for everyone, thanks to the actions of his guards Hope survives the attack. Unluckily, his attacker, the goddess Delight, escapes and lets the Null in.
Flooding into the cave, the Null will attack anyone who they believe is resisting them. They'll destroy buildings and deploy dangerous crowd control weapons, in addition to their sheer strength and speed. Confusion empties the monsters in the tunnels into the city, to help distract the Null. Some gods fight, others provide safe havens, but everyone is in danger.
After about a week and a half of the attack, Fear summons enough power to teleport the city. This stops any new Null from arriving through the tunnels, but the remaining Null must be hunted down and destroyed, or else they'll signal their location to the rest of their species. The danger will lessen as Null are taken out, but things won't really be safe until Fear moves the city again, so don't get too comfortable.
What will you do? Run and hide? Fight? Help the fighters? Turn on the gods yourself? Whatever you do, it's time to make a decision.► This log covers November 25th-December 12th.

But that doesn't mean she can't have a little fun with it, right?
Wade's smiling charmingly her way, so Lup holds out a hand for him to take and meets his grin with one of her, fluttering her dark lashes.] You know what, my man? I think that's exactly what this chick needs. Bee-tee-dubs, that whole curb-stomping the 'bot thing? Totally hot.
no subject
I aim to please, mademoiselle.
His eyes remain on hers; his posture remains in a bow as he extends his other hand behind him, firing one practiced shot through a machine that had chosen that exact moment to try and get the drop on him. Finally he straightens, seemingly unaware of the mangled robot twitching and sparking behind him.]
So! At the risk of bein' too forward, uh... what's with the yeti?
[He indicates Gren with a jerk of his thumb.]
no subject
[Also, yeti? Fucking rude, Wade. It's not winter yet, he doesn't have a fur coat. And he's not from Nepal.]
[Instead of hang around and listen to Wade not recognize him-- which really is no fault of Wade's own, even if Gren's still pissy about it-- Gren turns away from the two of them to pursue more of these robot fuckers. Go ahead and shoot some more robots or whatever to impress Lup, Gren'll just be over here tearing a few limb from limb. It's probably, like, pretty brutal? Or would be if these were squishy and not made of metal.
Be impressed by him, you asshole.]no subject
I'd say you aim to kill, actually. Just judging by that shot.
[Lup laughs when Wade presses his masked lips to her hand, her fingers wiggling in his grip before he's straightening and Gren's running off to smash apart a few more of the Null in response. All of this is just too damn good.]
He's a pal! A, uh, real good friend type. The kind that smashes through robots with real finesse and grace. Isn't he fuckin' baller? [Look at her going all wingman on you, Gren. See, Lup can help this!]
no subject
Huh. Judgin' by what little I see of his backdoor, 'baller' ain't the word I woulda used, poor sap. Nice ass, though.
no subject
[Gren's hearing is way too good not to hear both of those comments, and while it's kind of nice to have his ass appreciated? Not really appreciating the criticism of his lack of external genitalia. Fuck you, Wade, his balls aren't a dangling target between his legs.]
[Gren rips the arm off of one of those robots and flings it back. Might want to duck, Casanova.]
no subject
Try not to get too distracted by it, babe. We've got robots to crush.
[Flames leap back into Lup's outstretched palms, her attention returning to the war raging around them. She makes quick work of a trio of Null on her left, before she's whipping flames above her head at another running up at Wade's right. Too bad she doesn't quite see the smallest of the group coming straight at her back with it's laser cutter in hand.]
no subject
Whoa there, big hoss! Think I might've offended his delicate sensibilities or somethin'. Yo, watch that adorable little behind, sister!
[In one fluid motion, Wade takes a knife out of the holster strapped to his thigh and tosses it at the robot approaching Lup with a jerk of his wrist. The knife hits its target in a shower of sparks, pinning it against the wall of a building, where it twitches feebly like a bug in a collection.]
Almost gave ya an ass reduction there, girlie-girl. I'm all for improvin' yourself, but you can't get better than perfect, know what I mean?
[A wink.]
no subject
[Like a goddamn benediction from above, some big, nasty robot is coming in to join the party, so Gren's going to go tango with that. He'll tangle with the Big Nasty, you two can take care of the other things.]
[He really does wish he had that whole immunity to weapons thing at this point, because lasers are definitely not covered. Gren knows this because he has a big gash right across his chest, and the laser cauterizes it as it cuts, so it's big and also smells like burned meat and really, really hurts.]
[No worries, he'll deal with that? Sure.]
no subject
Sure, she's got a boyfriend and is absolutely uninterested in stealing Gren's current beau. But, y'know, it doesn't hurt anyone for the girl to soak up the attention.]
Perfect, huh? [Lup can't help but shoot a look at Gren's retreating form, amusement dancing across her expression.] Nice to know someone in Hadriel finally gets it. This piece of perfection's gone too long without all the attention she deserves, that's for sure.
[With their own group of Null under control, Lup's gaze drifts over to the big one Gren's tangling with.] Hey, don't fuck up, my guy! I don't wanna have to clean up your shit if you bite it.
no subject
[He winces as he watches the big yeti thing take a laser to the chest. The creature lets out a subdued growl of pain that puts Wade in mind of the sound someone makes when they slam their fingers in a door. There's something decidedly human in that sound, and his gaze flicks over to Lup to see how she's handling it. Apparently she's got quite a bit of faith in her not-so-little pet, if her casual reaction is anything to go by.]
Think we should give the big guy a hand? These Matrix rejects ain't exactly fightin' fair.
no subject
[God, he hates these robots. Fucking robots, fucking flirtatious whatever-the-fuck Wade is.]
[The distance between Gren and his backup widens. The Big Nasty is drawing him away, either intentionally or simply a result of the natural flow of combat; he doesn't notice, or possibly just doesn't care. He's a big angry monster, what's the worst that could happen?]
no subject
The one's who aren't fine, though, that's a list that Lup just may end up on very soon.]
Looks like he's got shit covered on his end. [She turns another flirtatious grin back on Wade, winking.] So, wanna show me just how skilled you are with those big guns of yours? How about a contest? See who can take out more?
[She's already raising a hand full of flame, the fire crackling off of her fingertips, before Lup's off with a laugh, ready to cause a little more mayhem for these 'bots. Unfortunately for her, she's seen all of the Null's weapons by now except for that all-powerful, crowd-control, brain-explodin' one. Apparently the three of them have made just enough of a ruckus for the Null to think it's actually needed, a smaller, unassuming robot waddling in behind the bigger Null with it ready to go off.]
no subject
I aim to please, darlin'. Lemme see what you can do with those magic fingers of yours.
[And with that little bit of innuendo, Wade's off as well, dancing his way across the battlefield to avoid the robots' laser weapons and dealing quite a lot of damage in turn. Likewise, he's so filled with the adrenaline of the moment that he doesn't realize that another, more dangerous player has entered the ring with them.]
no subject
[Which is a thing that's about to change. Gren hasn't been paying much attention to the smaller Null; he'll take a swipe at one or two of them if they're in his way, but his main concerns are the heavier weight classes. So he doesn't really notice the little one making its way in, using its unassuming size to move unnoticed through the fight.]
[He looks up from crushing the processor of one of the Null-- it had been going after Lup, and he'd intercepted it before it got the chance to move into close range-- and sees one of the robots setting down some weird cylindrical thing. Probably not good--]
[A lot of things happen all at once.]
[The device deploys, or at least that's what Gren assumes it does, and emits a sound of such a piercing frequency that he feels it rattle his brain in his skull. It causes pain so sharp and insistent and immediate that he almost collapses from it; even after it ruptures his eardrums and he can't hear it anymore, he can still feel it. Kind of like how you can feel the rumble of a deep bass in your chest, except the rumble is a knife and the bass is more knives and everything is knives.]
[There have been many times in Gren's life when he's made split second decisions, reacting without forethought or foresight or fore-anything. There's no time right now, really, to think through the pain and make anything but a snap assessment. Lup is in the area of effect with him, within arm's reach, and she is fragile, more so than he is. He moves (it hurts), wraps his hand around her delicate ribcage (it hurts), and heaves her away from the Null device (it hurts). He isn't gentle, but better bruised than dead.]
no subject
She's blasting through the Null with ease, whipping fireballs through the air like it's nothing between casual flirting with Wade, when her sharp eyes finally catch sight of the smallest Null kneeling to set something that looks absolutely no good on the ground.]
Oh dag.
[But before the elf can even attempt to make a run for it or throw up a useless shield, the strange device goes off and she's dropping to the floor within seconds, hands flying upwards to cover her overly sensitive ears. It's no good, of course, the piercing shriek goes beyond just hearing, the intensity of the vibration running straight through her slender body, right down deep into her very bones. Suddenly, it's impossible to breathe, she just can't bring herself to draw a breath, the pain is so intense that all she can do is gasp out and hope it's over soon.
Then without even realizing that Gren's gotten his big hand around her, she's flying, tumbling just out of the area of effect, her ears left ringing and her chest aching out sharply in pain, but the piercing shriek gone just as quickly as it had appeared.]
What the fuck, you asshole. My fuckin' ribs-- [But she rolls off of her back and rises slowly, an arm wrapped around herself, when she catches sight of Gren still within the area, her eyes going wide.] Fuck! Shoot that thing!
no subject
It is fortunate, therefore, that Wade's general approach to impossible odds is to shoot his way out. The migraine-inducing sound forces one of his eyes closed, but he still aims nonetheless, unloading his clip upon the strangely blinking device less than a few feet away from Lup's creature. One of those shots must have damaged its internal processors, for the thing gives a hellish grinding noise before collapsing in a shower of sparks.]
no subject
[Even his thoughts aren't coming right, all confused and jumbled and fragmented in his head. Everything hurts, and he is so tired, and it's only base animal instinct right now that drives him away from the thing that hurt him first. He wants to lay down and not get up again.]
[When the Null device finally breaks, so does he. His limbs buckle, he drops to the earth like dead weight and lays there, taking in horrible ragged breaths. His muscles twitch spasmodically from the misfires of dying neurons.]
no subject
Wade manages to destroy the device with a few well aimed shots and Lup's already rushing forward to Gren the second he drops to the ground, her pace quick despite the shake in her step.]
Hey! Hey! [She drops at the man's side, near his head, a tiny hand flying to Gren's arm, giving him a shake. The elf doesn't need medical training to know that he'd remained in the radius of that shrieking noise for just too long. She'd barely been in it's range for more than a few seconds and she still felt like her insides were jelly.] Don't you dare fuckin' die on me, you asshole! I swear to--
[Lup's head whips around, finding Wade before she's shouting for him, the hand against Gren's arm flying upwards to his face, cupping what she assumes is his cheek.] You still kickin' over there?
no subject
Odin's hairy ballsack, man! Haven't had that much ear rape since I stumbled into an Avril Lavigne concert.
You doin' okay there, sweetheart? How's your big'un? He still breathing?
