As far too many others have in the past, you wake up on the sandy ground of the colosseum, the stone ceiling of the cave stretching high overhead. But this is probably the first time this has happened to you - and even if it isn't, things are even more chaotic than usual right now. You've come at a weird time, friend.
The first thing you might see when you wake up is a salamander, or maybe a lot of salamanders. These amphibious creatures may be kind of cute, they're also incredibly flammable. Anything that brushes up against them has a very good chance of lighting on fire, so keep your distance, and make sure all your stuff keeps its distance too. Oh, and maybe keep them from crawling into the city to light that on fire, too. And in case that isn't enough warmth for you, you can also find a collection of different socks scattered around the arena. So that's... nice.
Of course, you've come at a remarkably bad time. A whole army of evil AI robot creatures recently attacked the city, and all you newcomers have arrived just as the attack is winding down. Does that mean you're not in too much danger? Of course not! There are still Null running around, and while they will ignore you if you ignore them, the second you attack them or deliberately get in their way they'll turn on you too. On top of that, the city itself has been devastated by the attack, with buildings destroyed and people killed. Welcome to Hadriel, let's hope no one tries to use you as a distraction while you're confused and frightened.
Once things calm down, the city's going to be on a different world - but you'll still have a life to live. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers December 10th-12th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

she spots the young girl getting too close to her fight and calls out]
Stay behind me! I'm the one it wants dead, not you.

It's all right, I can help.
[ She draws her knife, leaping forward, not wanting to distract the woman's attention from the fight by having to shield her. ]

Aim for deep in its belly! There's something inside there that makes it stop working!
[in the meantime, Margaery blocks its "hands" from being able to reach the girl using her sword, one hand on the hilt, the other placed on the flat side of the blade, braces herself against the ground, and pushes back against it as hard as she can]

Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately, now all of the Null still here will see you as an enemy and attack. [she eyes the dagger] Perhaps we should go to the armory and see if we can find a better weapon for you?

I can use a sword, or a bow.
I'm so sorry, I never got the notification! :(
We should have those to choose from. Do you prefer a regular bow or a crossbow?
no worries!
[ She sounds a little disappointed as she'd love to play around with a crossbow, but she knows that it's better to stick with what she knows for now so as to better defend herself. ]
Thanks! :)
Yes, that would be smart, to stick with what you know. However, I'd recommend a sword for use against the Null. Granted, it means you have to fight in close quarters against them, but they seem to pierce the Null's metal shell better.

[ She gravitates toward the smaller, lighter swords, picking up a couple to test their balance before putting them back as she feels bad choosing something that's too similar to Needle. ]

[she watches the girl test swords. she's certain by now that she's from the North, but she doesn't know who she is. she knows she'll have to ask eventually and tell her who she is and she's not looking forward to the reaction]
no subject
She eventually settles on a sword with a thicker edge than Needle, something halfway between the fine blade of a water dancer and a lighter version of a broadsword that a squire to a Westerosi knight might carry. ]
It'll need a name. All the best swords have names. But I can think of one later.
[ For now she's excited by the prospect of sticking together with Margaery, both because she's keen to stay close to someone who knows the layout of the city and because it's a novel experience to her to find another woman who knows how to fight. She smiles in return, nodding. ]
I'd like that.

Margaery nods her approval of the blade. it seems a good fit for the girl and long enough to reach the Nulls' CPUs]
There will be plenty of time to think of a name later. For now, survival is key.
[Margaery doesn't go looking for Null to fight. she doesn't have to. they come looking for her. as long as Arya sticks close, she'll have plenty of Null to choose from]
So would I. [gestures to the door] Shall we?
no subject
Are there many of these Null?
no subject
Quite a few, but since the city moved they've been unable to send reinforcements. We're just killing the last of them now.
no subject
What will happen after they're defeated?
no subject
We rebuild. They've already destroyed the clinic, the guard headquarters, and the library. The clinic and the guard headquarters in particular will be essential to rebuild as quickly as possible...
[her voice trails off as she spots a Null in the distance. it apparently sees them as well and heads towards them]
Two on one. Good odds for us, but remember those razors at the ends of their hands.
