Intro Log: Rock This City

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Safer? The closer we get the more there is to lose.

[evocation]

[She couldn't possibly hate this conversation any more if she tried. Kyna's quiet for a second, absorbing that. It's true, but she doesn't know what to do about it. It's incredibly tempting to just change the subject and pretend this issue doesn't exist, but after a moment of wrestling with herself, she forces herself on.]

Are you sure you think it's worth it? You're not going to... I don't know. I'm afraid you're going to change your mind.

[hardwearing]

[ Yeah this conversation sucks. A lot. Wash sighs heavily, his breath stirring her hair. ]

Yeah. It's just fear. I don't let that stop me anymore. [ And if he's honest with himself? He doesn't have it in him to push her away. ] I couldn't do it anyway. See you around here and not want this.

[evocation]

[Okay. Okay, that makes her feel a little better. She wraps her arms around him, fingers clutching at the back of his suit. She's officially clinging.]

I wish this could just be easy.

[hardwearing]

I know. I think we'll settle out, though?

[ He hopes, anyway. That this won't haunt them and things will get easier again. They got past his initial flailing failure, after all. ]

[evocation]

[Kyna nods against him, then pulls away just enough to kiss him on the cheek.]

Yeah. Thanks for not dumping me.

[hardwearing]

[ Pfft. Wash huffs a soft laugh, the corner of his mouth curving up. ]

I'd have to be an idiot.

[evocation]

[The laugh makes her smile a little.]

Maybe. Do you have more freckles?

[hardwearing]

I do... I got some sun. It was uncomfortable.

[evocation]

You went outside without your helmet? Seriously?

[She reaches up to brush her fingers against his cheek.]

It's cute.

[hardwearing]

[ He leans into that, still smiling faintly. ]

Nobody else here has power armor, if I wanted to spar I had to take it off.

[evocation]

Uh huh. So who screwed up your lip?

[hardwearing]

Doesn't matter. You're gonna fix it, right?

[evocation]

Maybe. It kind of makes you look like a badass.

[Of course she will.]

[hardwearing]

I don't already?

[evocation]

[She lets out a noncommittal noise, making a so-so gesture with one hand, then grins.]

[hardwearing]

What, I need more scars?

[evocation]

Not on your pretty face.

[She says it teasingly, digging her necklace out of her pocket as she talks.]

[hardwearing]

[ Pretty? Wash quirks an eyebrow -- it's been a long time since anyone called him that and Kyna's teasing is a lot kinder. ]

Anywhere else is fair game, though?

[evocation]

[She laughs.]

No. If anyone here gives you a scar I'll kick their ass. Stay still.

[And then she uses the necklace to cast the spell. His injuries are relatively superficial, so she has no problem healing him, good as new.]

[hardwearing]

I'm sure you would.

[ Holding still. When it's done he prods his lip with his tongue to check, then gives Kyna a broader smile. And leans in to kiss her properly. Aside from the peck she stole back in the colosseum, they haven't yet. He needs to fix that. ]

[evocation]

[God, she loves seeing him smile, and the kiss is more than overdue. She kisses him back, sinking against him again, her heart fluttering in the best way.]

[hardwearing]

[ Honestly, this is the first thing he should have done when he saw her again and he knows it. It would have cut out all the doubt. He lets it drag on until he needs to breathe, then bumps their noses together. ]

Is it like you remember?

[evocation]

[She laughs at the question breathlessly.]

Better. You've got a lot of time to make up for.

[hardwearing]

I guess I do.

[ And he's been assuming she didn't go home and get another boyfriend or anything, if she wants to pick up where they left off. That would've been awkward... he's not sure how he'd feel about it, knowing she didn't remember him. Just disappointed, probably?

Hmm. ]

Where should I start?
