Intro Log: Rock This City

Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th

This time, it's different.
There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.
Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.
But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.
Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

The Armory would be the place for that. [ She informs the young woman, trying to guess at her age. ] Near Rage's temple, if you've never been there.

Oh, well, there aren't r-really traditional stores--
[Wait. This is a girl. A cute girl. Oh dear. She sputters a bit, phone completely forgotten as she shoves it in her pocket, face growing a bit red.]
You don't have to buy them! Uh, a-at all! They're just free at the armory!

Jeez, [ she says, wide-eyed and tense. ] Sorry, not. A lot of people come here anymore.
[ They're close to Sorrow's temple. Beyond the people that came to collect water, most left it well alone. A lot of the population had decided to flock to Tranquility's pools because it offered some good vibes. Rose is one of the ones that prefer to not have her water come with any kind of influence. ]

kyna midha | open
[Back here again, and somehow Kyna isn't surprised. What's less expected is how her sense of time is all screwed up. It simultaneously feels like she's been gone forever and like she was just here yesterday, and maybe that's because it's clear nothing has changed. It's still suffocatingly hot, they're still in some sort of desert hellscape, and there's still a bunch of bullshit monsters running around.
This time they're some sort of rock elementals, which isn't great. They're moving slowly, at least, but one heads for her and for a terrifying split second she's not sure if her magic will be gone again. It makes her slow, and the lightning bolt she fires off is just a hair too late. She has to drop to the ground to keep from being brained by a rock the thing hurls at her. Still, even though the creature shakes off the spell like it's nothing, and even though using a lightning spell on an earth elemental was an idiotic instinct in hindsight, she's grinning. Her magic is fine, which means she's fine, obviously.]
ii.
[After warding off a few elementals, Kyna finally has a second to breathe. She needs to figure out how long she's been gone and if any of her friends are still here, obviously. And where the hell are Tucker and Harlan?
It's on her way out of the colosseum that she steps on a beanie baby, and when she bends down to scoop it up, finds a little fox. Sly, the nametag reads. Kyna brushes it off and stands, then calls out to whoever's nearby.]
Hey, wanna trade? Wait, did people trade these things?
ii.
The rock elementals are a pain, a surprise, but not a chore to avoid. The one Vergil did run into is in more pieces than it started out with, though with the amount of effort it took to take that thing down Vergil would rather not have to fight his way through a few hundred of those things thank you very much.
Besides, the beanie babies are odd enough that Vergil leans down to scoop one up, glancing over as someone speaks up. Trade? The small stuffed toy? The one he's snagged is Smoochy the Frog™ (though unless it's a prince in disguise Vergil is certain there will be zero smooches for this one) and he gives the smallest of smiles at the question.]
I don't know. Which one do you have?

Brennan | closed
There are no mutated wasps this time, but Brennan knows by now that the things that appear in the colosseum have every intention of hurting the people who wake there. So as a large earth-looking monster slowly makes its way towards her, she gets up and runs out of the arena. She hopes at least some of the others saw her and have followed, but she is not going to wait for them. She is concerned with staying alive, for her family's sake, and because she needs to know if the friends she made here are alive and relatively well.
Outside, it is hot and muggy. She looks around, willing to help anyone out here who might need it-- until she spots Sweets.
It is too much, seeing him again, too amazing and heartcrushing. They lost him three years ago and it still hurts. After what has happened in the last few months alone, there is little that can stop the emotional reaction the sight of him stirs in her: the sting of tears in her eyes, the bittersweet ache in her chest, the desperate urge to run and hug him and never let go -- or at least, hold him for a good long while.
So run she does, calling out his name and going immediately for a hug.
There's a few seconds where all she does is breathe shakily, and then, before she lets herself rationalize away the thought, she says,]
I couldn't save you. I'm so sorry.
no subject
Still, although he'd been holding out the faint, possibly unrealistic hope that Brennan would return, he's not at all expecting to see her or hear her voice. But the hug itself somehow doesn't startle him and he returns it immediately, not quite processing just yet that she really is back and everything that goes with it, at least not until she speaks again.
It's obvious what she means, immediately, and it tells him she must've been gone for some time for her. But the words themselves are a confirmation of something he's been thinking about his entire time in Hadriel, and although he feels like they should be a shock, or at least upsetting, it's just... It's just telling him something he already knew, on some deep level, and all it means is that he can stop wondering.
But that's less important right now than the fact that Brennan is back--everything is less important, really--and he just hugs her tighter for a moment in a brief show of reassurance.]
Don't be; it's okay. It wasn't your fault.
[There was nothing she could've done, and that's something he's also somehow known.]
I'm just... I'm sorry you're back, but I'm really glad too. I missed you.

Aloy | open
The sudden sound of stone grinding against stone behind her makes her whip around, but before she can react, one of the creatures is throwing a well-aimed blow at her head, and Aloy is too close to react. The shimmering force field her armor is emitted takes the brunt of the blow, leaving her uninjured, but she still staggers back, teeth gritted. What the hell is that?
Instinct tells her there's no time to figure it out. She turns on her heel and sprints towards the arches at the edges of the arena, sliding behind cover and practically slamming into someone else's hiding place. Great. Maybe they can give her some answers, at least.]
What are those things?
ii
[So, every time Aloy thinks things have gotten strange enough, they get stranger. It's like the theme of her life now, and all she can think to do is wander the city, brow furrowed. This place is utterly alien to her—buildings, people, all of it.
Then again, Aloy isn't exactly normal looking herself. Her clothing is a mixture of carefully hand stitched leather and hide, offset by cannibalized armor that's clearly much more technologically advanced. She looks like an anachronism made flesh, and she's utterly annoyed. Her voice is blunt when she pulls aside the first unfortunate person she sees, all business.]
Hey, who's in charge here?
one
[ A voice behind Aloy will reveal Cecily, an archer whose gaze is on the monster. It doesn't look good; her arrows aren't doing any damage, and she suspects it'll be the mages who can really get to these beasts. In the meantime, though, she's hear to help any and all newcomers to safety, as she will convince herself to do every so often. ]
I can explain more about what's going on if you'll kindly come with me. Away from those things. [ The Inquisitor nods her head toward the exit of the colosseum, waiting patiently, bow drawn, for Aloy to concede.
The quicker they can escort everyone out and into the town, the better... ]

Speakeasy mingle. | OTA
Or, of course, anyone is free to help themselves to food and refreshments. The music from the jukebox on the stage plays louder than ever, over a flashing dancefloor with gold tinsels and a disco ball hanging overhead.
Lights sparkle like stars hanging over the party scene, giving the room a much more lively feel to it. Clearly a lot of work for one person alone, but with the aid of Rose and Alphys, the usually calm Speakeasy is much more vibrant than before.
Bored? Then dance, or take a place on the stage and sing horribly in front of your drunk friends so they can make fun of you later.
Have a drink at the bar, where Rey is diligent in serving up new brews for the first time in over a month. Those who have paid her house visits over the last few weeks might notice a change in her melancholy disposition -- but for anyone else new and unaware, she is just doing her part in making certain people feel at home, or relax in light of recent events.
It's the least she can do, and a more than needed distraction from what can be considered her new normal now.
[ooc: The third official Hadriel Welcome Dance Night! Consider this an open mingle thread for old and new characters. So tag in, tag out, hit up your friend/partner/Rey if preferred. Enjoy the lights and shinies. Also the timeline for this is pretty loose, so feel free to assume that this is set around the 11th-12th]
Aren and Barkspawn
1. The bar, duh. Aren isn't a big drinker, at least not that she's let on, but there's nothing wrong with having one or two to be social. Barkspawn, her large canine companion, is plopped down on the floor by her, either watching the disco ball in fascinatin or gnawing at his claimed platypus. Anyone, familiar or not, will be met with a smile as the dwarven woman raises her glass.
"Pretty damn festive, isn't it? I've never seen a tavern so sparkly before. It kinda makes my plans for a party by the hot springs seem tame, but I'm not complaining."
2. Dance floor! She can't resist the lure for long; as Barkspawn guards their space, Aren will join in when a new rhythm inspires her to do so. Anyone who looks as though they want to join in but is being shy about it will draw her attention and she'll offer her hand with a grin. C'mon, what harm would there be in one dance or a few?
3. Singing? Maybe it's the drinks, maybe it's finally relaxing after what feels like forever of not being able to let her guard down, but later into the night, she'll either join in some group singing or start her own. Be prepared for a rendition of Andraste's Mabari.

Goro Akechi / OTA
[Today was a particularly bad day to get whisked away to another world.
But then again, it's not really as any other day would have been any better. The sensation is unpleasant, to say the least-- absolutely jarring, really. Waking up on the ground, while unfortunately not a new situation, in these particular circumstances is unfamiliar. Granted, he doesn't even realize the circumstances are far different from what he's anticipating.
A soft noise escapes him as he comes to, dazed for only a moment, before a particular sight before him shocks him into awareness.
A large, anthromorphisized pile of rocks, lifting its leg-like limb as it stares down at him.
He narrowly rolls out of the way, the vibration from the impact a bit jarring, but luckily, he's able to scramble to a stand, and just in time to avoid a swing from its arm.
What?
He backs off, taking the half a second to see about his surroundings, which are just as confusing as the stony monstrosity before him. His gaze flicks back to the monster, and it's advancing on him.
He turns away to start running, but there's another one right there, and while he's quick to react, this one does clip his shoulder, and with a startled, pained noise, he's thrown off-balance and nearly to the ground— but a hand manages to catch him before he completely falls over.
Still, it looks like he's struggling and he's definitely not pulling out any weapons, so maybe lend a hand?]
(Out and About)
[On the other hand, you may find him outside, either quietly walking around and taking in the sights, or occasionally stopped with a furrowed brow and a solemn expression and obviously quite deep in thought.
Though, if he notices you, he'll quickly offer up a friendly smile and a nod.]
Good day.
[Or, you may hear him speak up:]
Pardon me, but... [He points in the direction of a particular building.] What is that place?

So he doesn't even spot Akechi until he's addressed, after which the artist all but jumps out of his skin, whirling around and backing up, eyes searching him to check he isn't armed.]

Swift har Parasiel | OTA - Will Match
...toys? [There's...really not a reason for that is there? They look like something Az might have played with when he was still a harling and that brought up all kinds of things he didn't want to think about. He couldn't afford a breakdown right now--or ever, probably. Still, he bends down and picks up a ridiculous creature and stares at it for a few moments trying to figure out what it is, before he sighs and drops it back on the ground, confused.
They're everywhere and he can't even come up with a reason why they would be. He couldn't even imagine that one person had lost so many of them. Was this some human thing? If so, he could see why they hadn't brought it with them when hara took the world from them.
And it doesn't help with the whole surreal feeling of showing up in the first place.]
2. Colosseum again
[At first Swift is convinced that this whole thing is a dream--what else could it be, right? Turning up in an arena still holding a handful of papers from his office and staring at giant rock monsters Which, admittedly, is not the strangest thing he's ever seen happen, but it's still surreal enough that "dream" is the logical first conclusion.
It's not until he has to dodge the third stony fist thrown in his direction as he tries to get out that he starts to wonder whether this might actually be real. And that thought is even more terrifying. He could actually die and he has no way to stop it except hoping that he's just a little faster.
Of course there's one standing right in front of what looks most likely to be an exit. Just his luck. He stares at it for a moment, but he doesn't have long before it notices him. How is he supposed to get out of this one?]
3. Exploring
[The more he explores outside the colosseum, the more confused Swift gets. A city in a desert? He'd almost believe he'd somehow ended up finding Saltrock except that it was too big. And too...strange. Too hot, too, but from what he'd heard of the place that wasn't all that unusual.
He's too afraid to try beyond the borders--he's got nothing to protect him from the heat or whatever might be out there--so he sticks to the city, taking shade where he can find it until he feels like he can manage walking around a little more, trying to get his bearings and only ending up disoriented, looking for anyone who might be able to give him more information and only getting frustrated. People are probably smarter than he is, though, and are staying inside.
He might have to try that next.]

Seel was overjoyed. The adult part of him wanted to be disappointed that Swift was stuck here with him instead of safe at home in Forever, but he also didn't want to be alone. With the sudden absence of Cal, the Wraeththu presence was dwindling.
He stopped right outside the collosseum, and probably should have been more ashamed to admit his reaction to seeing Swift, even as he was surrounded by stuffed animals, was to turn soume. So not the right time.
"Swift."
Seel had probably looked better. The water was functioning again but that didn't mean he was going to stop what he was doing. There were things that needed to be done. He watched him throw the toy back down to the ground and the Consort could guess what he was thinking. The same thing Seel had been avoiding all this time. Now it looked like his time was up.

Asriel Dreemurr | ota
[Getting whisked away to new worlds without warning wasn't exactly new to Asriel, and there was always a danger that came with it each time it happened. ... Usually that danger waited until Asriel could kind of process where he was first.
The moment he opens his eyes, the first thing he sees are giant rock creatures looming over him. He opens his mouth to talk to them, right before he sees one of them raising their fist to bring down on top of him.]
Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!
[He bolts upright, scrambling away from the rock monsters. He is not fighting them, he is running out of here as fast as he can.]
[The city]
[After Asriel escapes the terror of the Colosseum, he's left to explore the city ruins. Nothing looks familiar, he's definitely not on Thisavrou, and nobody he's seen so far looks familiar either. There's a little bit of fear building in his chest, just being left alone with no one he can go to or readily contact.
He's been in that situation before. It didn't go well.
While he wanders aimlessly for a while, stopping to peek into buildings, he stop and talk to anyone he can found. And anyone he does find while find a strange-looking goat monster with a lion-like tail, a scarred, bad eye, and a glowing disk attached to his back. He smiles awkwardly, trying to seem as harmless as possible.]
Uhh... howdy! Can you tell me where I am? And how to get back to Thisavrou?
(The city)
Get away from them! (Hopefully the monster will focus on her now, though that leaves her wondering just what she has planned next. Running seems like the best option.)
Follow me! There are places we can lose him - (Maybe. Hopefully. She holds out her hand for Asriel, blue eyes weary but bright.)

Sansa Stark | OTA
(The ground is blessedly solid, but it seems to shift nonetheless. Her cheek is nestled against the dirt and her Northern dress seems incredibly heavy. Yet her memories flow back as if they are made out of water.
Hadriel.
Her home after Ruby City. Sansa pushes herself onto her elbows and rolls just in time to avoid an attack. She has seen many monsters, but the Earth Elementals are frightening. Even so, she is much happier facing them than Ramsay Bolton.
Who could blame her?
Chest tight as she fights for breath, she struggles to her feet and sheds her outer cloak of furs. Then, after a quick glance around, she lifts her skirts and pulls out the dagger she keeps on her person at all times - unless she is sleeping (and then it is under her pillow). She hasn't a clue what sort of damage it will do to an Elemental, but it's something.)
Stay back! (It's a silly order, she knows. Do those things even have ears?)
II. What can a stuffed animal do for me?
(As cute as the beanie babies are, she doesn't have the heart to sort through them. There are more important matters at hand. Once she is free of the monsters, she brushes her tangled hair out of her face and sets about walking down the main road. She has her furs folded over one arm - nothing should be lost or wasted - and her lips are set in a grim line.
She has changed since she was last here. What else has changed too? Are her belongings gone? What of her friends?
Her family?Sansa feels breathless again and clutches the dark material covering her chest.Breathe. Breathe.
The mantra means nothing; it helps nothing. She enters one of the temples for some shade and collapses into a seat within.)
You must see. You can't put it off.
II
There's relief laced in Fingon's voice as he catches sight of her. Her sword had been hanging in Elrond's house since her disappearance some days before, but her own whereabouts had been a worrying mystery. They had been beginning to fear the worst- but perhaps it had been worrying for nothing?
"Where have you been?" He rushes to meet her and pull her into an embrace.

[Her first thought--immediate and a little insane--is that everything has restarted, again, that she and her friends have escaped The Hunger, again, and this must be some new world and new plane, and that maybe--maybe--everything she's been living for the last ten years has been some kind of dream.
Her next thought--better, less ridiculous, but no more helpful--is that when the door opened on her private sanctum and she had turned around to see whatever was about to enter, she hadn't found the hall leading back to her office, but instead had been sucked into a new place entirely. A place she doesn't recognize. This place.
She's on the ground, on her hands and knees, staring at the dirt. Under one of her hands is the Bulwark Staff, so that at least is a good sign. As she sits up she finds herself in a large but enclosed space. It's hot here, and bright, and for a second eerily quiet. But only for a second--because of course. Then, there is a noise behind her, the sound of heavy steps, so heavy they shake the ground around her a little. She sighs to herself.]
There's a big thing behind me. Yes? Yes.
[She turns and, towering over her, looking down as if it sees her, crunching it's way inexorably toward her squishy breakable body, is a big stone man. A rock guy? A gravel....bro? Ok, she's thinking insane thoughts again. No time for that. Time to act, or this could get hairy quite fast. She gets to her feet as quick as she can and points her staff at the monster.]
Alright, let's say I'm not into getting crushed today. Hm? Could you work with me on that?
>>TWO<<
[After all the big stone monsters are finally gone, things are quiet again, and she finally has time to really look around. She seems to be in some kind of arena, open air and likely with at least one exit. Somewhere to go, surely where she can find answers. Somehow.
The thought is a little exhausting, and before she can decide which way to turn, she realizes that strewn about between the piles of rubble left behind by her attackers are some...stuffed animals? Small and brightly colored and everywhere. She truly has no idea what to make of that, and would probably have stepped right past them all in search of something more useful, except...
Except. About three feet from her is a little, shiny, multicolored...voidfish. It's probably not really a voidfish. A jellyfish maybe, except that it's a rainbow of colors and it's shiny little tentacles are splayed all around in the dirt and--
She sits down next to it without thinking and picks it up. It's little tag says 'Goochy' which. Wow. Just a ridiculous name. Nothing at all like Fisher. Still, she holds the little voidfish to her chest and looks around her. She tries not think about where she is or how she got here, just for a moment, and she especially does not think about what was happening directly before she got here. Her friends, just starting to remember everything she'd done to them, looking at her with such confusion and fear.
She just needs a minute. Just one minute here where it's quiet and then she'll get up and go find out what's happening.]

two :>
And then, of course, things slide off. Magnus disappears- but it's fine. He's probably just gone for a little bit, like he was before. He'll meet him at the Coliseum, same as always, jokes will be thrown, they'll go home.
Except... it's not like that. Except Magnus isn't here, and he's been here once or twice already, and--
And finally, he sees her. Clutching a plush toy and just standing like it's nothing.
She looks like he remembers, now, from those last moments he was home, the moment they locked eyes as he pressed the Umbra Staff into his chest, those last moments of thinking it was all he had left. It's been... well, a while since then now. Six months, if he actually sat down to count. And he's seen her and lost her, yelled and fought and failed to fix anything. And she's just... back. She just gets to come back.
He doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know what to feel. She's here and she-- she knows this time. He can fight and she can hurt and she can understand, she can...
Taako stops. What does he want from this? Does he want to hurt her? Maybe. But does he want to make her hurt? Maybe that fire's gone from him now.
Finally, finally, he moves, planting the tip of the Umbra Staff into the ground with a crunch of sand and soil, leaning on it and picking at his nails with his thumb. He's not looking at her, but his voice carries fine, and his intent is pointed. Who else could he be talking to?]
Ooooooof course. Of course you'd end up back here.

prompto argentum / ota
( they've faced down a lumbering catoblepas and a turtle the size of a mountain yet lived to tell the tale; evading a group of very aggressive but relatively slow rock things should be easy.
it should be, but prompto didn't have an increasingly panicked infant chocobo cradled in his arms the last time he was fighting to stay alive. his revolver's tucked into the back of his belt, out of reach for now, and the only thing the gunner can do is run.
with his attention divided between the constant flurrying of tiny wings and ominous thuds from the mass of pissed off rock people — the hell's their beef, anyway? — prompto's having a hard enough time dodging the attacks as it is. the shockwave from every blow always lands a hair's breadth too close for comfort, and he's barely looking ahead so much as he's glancing down at the chocobo to make sure she hasn't died from shock and then peeking over his shoulder to keep his one good eye on his pursuers.
small wonder, then, that prompto ends up barreling right into a stranger at full speed. ) S—sorry!
ii. exploring » feel free to jump in at any point in this btw
( the blond has a moment to wonder briefly if this is simply another stage of ortech's experiments after wayward pines before realising that the chocobo has gone worryingly still and quiet; she's alive, but all that excitement probably hasn't done her much good if the shivering is any indication.
finding a spot to sit not too far away from where he exited the amphitheatre is easy enough, and prompto takes the opportunity to catch his breath. the presence of not one but two familiar shapes in his pockets results in him unearthing a pair of smartphones, one of which he's never seen before. the information available on the latter is far more than what prompto is mentally prepared for, although he retains enough sense to alternate between boggling at everything he's reading and checking on the chocobo to make sure she's okay, occasionally stroking at the downy feathers on her back in what he hopes is enough to soothe.
exploration of the city comes later, after he's learnt that ortech might not actually have anything to do with this new development after all — an mutagen-caused apocalypse was what leveled the world, last he knew, and ortech didn't seem too focused on anything of the supernatural sort — and prompto figures the best thing to do is take a look at the place for himself. the shops mentioned in the guide are the first place he makes for, having arrived without much on hand at all, but it's strange seeing stores open without any keepers to tend to them just like in so many of those disaster movies. )
Um. ( prompto starts tentatively, shifting the weight of the chocobo in his hold, and approaches one of the many unfamiliar faces he sees. ) Can we really take stuff we need without paying or anything?

Ignis still looks slightly ruffled from the coliseum (as a member of the Guard, he was naturally there to help protect the new arrivals) with a few scuffs of dirt on his clothes and several strands of hair escaping over his forehead, but more than that he appears thoroughly startled as he focuses in on Prompto and clears the shop floor in several quick strides, planting a hand on the blond man's shoulder.]

This month though, it doesn't look like she's going to be of much use to anyone.
Sweat plasters her fringe to her face as she ducks and weaves between Elementals, (there are already several beanie babies in her bag, don't fucking judge) and she looks absolutely exhausted. It might have something to do with the fact that even in this unending heat, she wears long sleeves and jeans.
She sways and stumbles with her gun in hand, dangerously determined to help out.]

Evangeline Greene | OTA
[When she wakes it's to the taste of dirt in her mouth and a feeling of unease. Something that she doesn't particularly like. The world she came from seems worse than this, but that didn't mean that she was safe. How could it?
Moving to get up she notices the pile of live rocks that seem about to come tumbling, running... whatever it wanted to be called, towards her. Her immediate response is to push her hands into the dirt floor and cause vines to grow in front of her, slowing the damn thing down.
It would give her enough time to get up and get away from it, at the very least. She has, after all, dealt with worse.]
Exploring
[Once she's managed to get her feet about her and away from whatever that was, she starts exploring the city. Though she finds interesting little animals, beanie babies, at her feet. She's not sure if they're there for a purpose but it doesn't mean that she doesn't collect a few. Something to take her mind off of everything. The Game and what had just happened.
Her exploring takes her towards the storefront and she decides that she might as well see what they have in store. If anything, she needed to make another bugout bag just in case something happened in this city. Clothes and other assorted supplies to add to her arsenal.]
Exploring
There's a jacket over there. [She nods toward the shelves on the far wall.] If it's this hot durin' the day, it's likely to get awful cold once night hits.

Ravus Nox Fleuret | OTA
[Squaring up to a bunch of earth monsters seems straightforward enough for Ravus; hardly daunting when he and his army had slain the God of Earth itself. In fact, the sight of them, and of this arena itself, is a strange sort of relief. There's so much heat and light, and not a daemon to be seen. Nothing like the icy wastes of large swathes of Niflheim. Nothing like the dark, demon-infested capital of Gralea. There are still living and breathing people here, and he, it seems, appears to be one of them.
Even if these elementals seem intent on changing that. He ducks under the swinging arm of one of them, twisting up his blade and finding a crack in the creature's rock plates. It reels back, and he tries to finish it off, raising his prosthetic arm to fire a purple bolt of magitek lightning--
...Which glances off the elemental, who is entirely unaffected, save a few scorchmarks. It swings for him again and he brings up the flat of his blade to block the punch, widening his stance to avoid getting crushed, more or less able to match it in strength thanks to his prosthetic.
Gritting his teeth, he shoots a glare to someone he can feel watching him nearby.]
If you have the strength to finish this creature off, do so. If you lack it, take the opportunity to run.
II. CITY
[Ravus had roamed the city to get his bearings, had read a little of his situation on the phone he'd found on his person, and a little of his initial euphoria and relief had worn off to give way to weary resignation. He finds one of the temples -- this one is, he thinks, Fear's -- and finds little by way of any further answers, but plenty of shade from the oppressive twin suns.]
Gods once again. Haven't they taken enough from me?
[He finds a corner to sit, runs his hands through his white hair, checking his phone tiredly for any more information he can glean. He feels exhausted.]

[Ignis is nothing if not resourceful. He imagines he'd at least make some use of them; Ravus intends to do the same. Even if there is no Chosen King here the gods might be willing to lend their strength to, they might still be reasoned with in some way or another.
He has other equally pressing questions, however, so without waiting for an answer--]

Futaba Sakura | OTA
[Considering that she had been dragged into a completely different world, Futaba would have considered that she wasn't doing too badly. She hadn't panicked yet, and that in and of itself was a miracle when she found herself outside of her room when it wasn't something she, or the others, had planned. Considering the last thing she could recall before finding herself in a Colosseum had been sitting in a van with several other teenagers, she was rather impressed at her lack of a breakdown.
And then rocks started attacking. The whole phrase of "rocks fall, everyone dies" had a very ominous meaning to it now. She could feel the familiar pulse of her Persona--a presence that shouldn't be possible but provided some comfort despite her worry that it would be useless. She was purely defense and strategy, what good could buffs and healing spells due against a sentient pile of rocks trying to smash her to bits?
She shrieked, barely dodging a swing from the beast as she rolled to the side. Someone save her.]
Two // When I'm haunted by your ancient history
[By some manner of grace, she was alive. Whatever power had seen to her survival had her thanks--and if they ever chose to claim it, she'd be more than willing to give such thanks personally. For now though, she as trying to find her barrings in this strange city. She had even managed to, on her way around and avoiding more elemental beings, snag a small toy. Why she thought to grab it while fleeing for her life, she'll never know, but she was holding it close to her chest, taking comfort from the small stuffed animal as she wandered the city.
She's nervous, not recognizing anyone, but she needed answers. So when she finally steels her nerves, she reaches out to the first person she can before she can back out of doing it at all.]

As it turned out, one of the apparent drawbacks to switching sides to the good guys happened to be that just leaving got a hell of a lot harder when there were people around who still needed help. She heard a shriek, saw a small body rolling out of the path of one of the things in a whirl of red hair and panic, and was in its path trying to drive it back with a blow from her lance before she had time to consider it. It wasn't enough; it put a little space between the rock monster and the girl, but just seemed to aggravate it.

noctis | ota
[ These things are a massive pain in his ass, slow but sturdy and packing one hell of a punch -- and they just keep coming, like there's some sort of warped rock elemental factory churning these guys out just for fun. Noctis is a dervish of swords and violence, adept and deadly as he takes them down with no small amount of effort.
They take longer, impervious as they are to just about all kinds of magic -- yeah, he tried -- and he's just about to violently, forcefully knock the block off the one he'd been wrestling with for the past couple of minutes when he spots someone nearby, right about to stray into an elemental's sights. ]
Hey! Look out!
beanie babies;
[ All right, so. The debacle with angry, homicidal rock monsters concluded, Noctis actually is given over to paying careful attention to the array of plushies that's been scattered through the colosseum -- like a toy factory exploded somewhere and it rained down plushies only very recently. There are plushies of every make and color, and Noctis steps past them all, decides that he's too old and too cool for nonsense like this (let the kids pick them up, whatever), until he almost steps on one just beyond the exit.
Oh. A garishly adorable, multi-colored fish beanie baby, and suddenly the prince's lofty intentions are moot. Checking to see that no one's looking, he picks it up to look it over, gently squeezing the plushie to feel the beans shifting inside.
Well, it isn't too bad, right?
(Feel free to bump into this failure of a fish fancier.) ]
lake;
[ It doesn't take him long before he finds this spot, the small lake located near the center of this strange new city. There is a lot of get used about this place, but Noctis is nothing if not adaptable, and this fine afternoon finds the prince standing by the shore of the lake, looking down fondly at the shifting shapes underneath the placid water.
His fingers twitch, itching to pull out his fishing rod just to see what he'll get in this place -- would it be some gaunt monstrosity, or a delicacy? Between giant killer crocodiles and rock monsters and a suspect Colosseum, he doesn't quite trust that the livestock here isn't going to actively try to kill him.
Absently, to the person beside him, he asks. ]
D'you think the fish are edible here?
/sparkles/

[Ignis does not immediately respond. It's a question he's given some consideration to, certainly, but not one that he has been able to answer for himself. It's all at once intriguing and entirely infuriating, but the situation here is entirely unlike the political machinations he would have needed to untangle at a glance in Eos.]
They are, in their own way. We're manipulated by them for our emotional responses.
[There's a certain distaste in his voice as he says that.]
But the Door that brings us here is not entirely controlled by them, if they are to be believed, and they do not know how to send us back through it.
[He pauses mid-step, then draws himself fully to a stop with a soft, tense sigh.] Noctis, you will need to be careful here. There will be times when I will not be able to protect you.

[ When one has gone up against the likes of Doomsday, a behemoth of a harbinger of death and destruction -- the magically enchanted rock monsters don't seem like all that impressive of a challenge (read: not so worthy an opponent). Extreme hardiness does not come close to nigh invincibility; rocks can be shattered if enough force is used, but as Diana continues to fight these slow, sturdy, and tremendously violent things, she's discovering and cataloguing new, and even more efficient ways to take them apart.
The glowing end of her lasso closes tight around one monster's torso and arms, and it doesn't take much to swing the thing; sending it crashing into the others, using it as a temporary weapon. The lasso holds fast, binding the monster to the ground even when Diana leaps high, high up into the air, and lands feet first in a move that would have broken bones. Instead, the impact cracks the stone, and she makes quick work of it with her shield, slamming it down with enough force for it to break apart.
Next. She thinks nothing of punching her shield into the face of the nearest rock monster, sweeping its legs from under it before jamming the edge of her shield where its eyes are, taking the top of its head clean off. But it's not nearly done, not quite, before she catches movement out of the corner of her eye. A rock monster advancing on another person, fist pulled back to punch. She's there in the space of a heartbeat, planting herself between them both, arms raised to absorb the punch.
And what a punch it is, too -- her bracelets absorb the incredible impact of it, pushing her back just half a step before she snaps to action, the resulting blowback from the bracelets sending the thing flying to smash into the opposite wall of the Colosseum.
Huh. Diana spares the oddly comical scene for a moment, before turning around. ] You all right?
temples; (love or sorrow)
[ Diana likes to think that she knows just about all there is to know about the old gods and the new, even the ones forever lost, the hundreds of pantheons that span throughout the millennia (a positive point of being just over five thousand years old, she supposes; you tend to know a little more about history than the average person). But she's not familiar with these temples, especially the one she's currently stepping into.
Even so, she treads with care, observing the unfamiliar architecture of it before there's an inexplicable stirring in her chest. Sorrow, for all the loved ones she had lost; men and women who had fought alongside her, died for the cause or of old age. Or the warmth of Love, an interesting fondness for just about everything, generic and placid. She's making her way to the nearest figure she sees. ]
Excuse me. You are in charge of this temple?
armory;
[ She finds her way to the armory out of curiosity -- you learn about a place through its choice of weaponry, and as it turns out, Hadriel seems to be a hodgepodge of just about everything. There are a vast array of weapons here, even ones the likes she had never seen before, strangely interesting to simple and efficient, and she stops before a particularly impressive bow with its quiver of arrows. It's been lovingly crafted and carved, and her fingers run over the polished, curved wood. Simple, but one that would pack quite the punch. ]
The person collecting this must be quite the enthusiast.
orchard;
[ The fragrance of fruit is tempting, as is the orchard that she finds herself strolling through. It's beautiful and well-tended, so many of the trees have boughs heavy with fruit, some familiar, some entirely alien to her. That a place beyond her world would have an orchard oddly fascinates, and she reaches for a ripe, red apple. ]
I almost expected this to be the garden of the Hesperides.
armory
She enters just in time to hear Diana speak. Jo laughs and heads over, shrugging a little.]
Rage does like deadly things.
