Intro Log: Rock This City

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Yeah, no. Ephemera just grins.]

I've been accused of that a time or two. Being a professional, I mean.

[His behavior right now probably doesn't qualify, but it's been a long month.]

[A soft, amused sound is held in the back of Nil's throat at that response.]

So have I, but one man's professionalism is often another man's brutality. Subjective observation can be such a fickle thing.

That'd depend on the profession, I think.

[Ephemera tips his head to the side. Interesting guy. Probably a threat. But who isn't, around these parts?]

Which one are you in?

Me?

[The innocent look that flashes briefly over his face doesn't suit him. He lifts his bow a half-inch.]

I'm just a traveller, with a bow, and a concern about the state of the lands I came from. I had a missing partner, but that situation has been resolved.

[Nil doesn't make threats, he takes action. Threats are useless.]

[A traveler, huh? And with someone from back home, if Ephemera's understanding the implications correctly. That could make things interesting.

Ephemera hums, watching the man. He's strange. Probably a threat. The sort of person Ephemera would have either killed or played poker with back home. Here? Things are different. Not so simple.

Truthfully, he prefers it that way.]

Sure you are. Maybe you're even good with that thing.

[Ephemera doubts it, a little, but he's seen strange things since coming to Hadriel. There's a chance a bow could actually do some damage.]

Sorry about the traveling, though. Nobody's been doing much of that lately.

[Nil is a strange kind of threat. That is, he's only really a threat if he judges you to be a certain kind of person, and if you are that kind of person... then Nil becomes the kind of threat you should be constantly checking over your shoulder for.

Ephemera is... fortunately, not that kind of person. Not yet.]

Better for you if you don't have to find out how good I am with this. [Because the best way to find out is being on the receiving end. Not a threat - it doesn't even sound like one - just a statement.]
